“Try everything to get out of a claim”

We are still in the process of trying to obtain some money from this company for missed departure. Our internal flight in India was delayed causing us to miss our Virgin flight home on the 5th January. We are still trying to claim back the additional £608 each it cost to get home. This company are trying everything to get out of paying. As we are 2 people they want original paperwork for each of us. Difficult when one letter was issued for us both from the airline. Beware of this company!!!!!! Avoid at all costs! Yes, the website is very easy to navigate and prices are decent. But don't get fooled. Once you make a claim, it is very tough to get hold of someone. Person who handles my claim is TERRIBLE!!!! Only responds if she feels like it. And her responses are always "Thank you" and "Sorry". She doesn't even provide you a clear status of your claim. Being such a big company and a big name with international travellers, I thought for sure I would be safe with this lot. I wish I had read these reviews before I gave them my hard earned money. I bought a gold level policy to cover me while I was in India for 3 weeks and the policy schedule had all the items I wanted. Having insured holidays through Insure & Go for many years due to ease of purchase and price, I have now learned a harsh lesson. Cheapest is not the best AND you must read the small print (all of it in their large booklet), in great detail.One of the main considerations is Peace of Mind and after attempting to claim for the first time I now have NO TRUST or PEACE of MIND in INSURE & GO. Took out 'Travelinsurance with 'no excess', BEFORE I was diagnosed with a MEDICAL CONDITION. Now they say that I AM NOT COVERED for my medical condition, breast cancer or I have to pay for a new policy: $500+ with $200 excess or $700+ with no excess. Left holiday early because of a death of close family member made a claim and they charged us £100 excess per person (including our two poor devastated children) so we got our money - or pennies back minus £400! My daughter had her bag stoelen while on holiday with us in November 2014. It contained some money and her iphone along with a few other personal effects. We have been repeatedly asked to send in documtents and supply details in a process that has so far taken 8 weeks. Today we received a cheque for £163. Our claim was for nearer £380. We made a claim in September 2014 following been robbed in our apartment on holiday. We put in a claim for money we had stolen and an expensive wallet. We had a police report and supplied all details that were requested from us ..(we were asked to send in bank statements etc more than 3 times) we finally received a settlement cheque in January 2015 for £71 our claim was for £420 . I sent them everything they asked for as well, bank statements, paypal statements, police reports, hospital reports (i had malaria)
they used their small print and T&C to wriggle out of any payment

Where do this people say they are an award winning insurer, who gave them this title ?

I am a frequent world traveller and in thirty years of being so this is the first time I have ever had to make a claim. I took out the policy in may this year, the first time that I have used Insure and go. I took ill in the Middle East in July which necessitated a hospital visit and ongoing medication. I have absolutely no complaints, I was treated with fairness and compassion and they settled quickly without any fuss. I had malaria, was in a coma for 3 days and hospital for over 2 weeks, they rejected my claim

I'm sorry to hear that...but I can only go off my own experience. Unfortunately I didnt recieve the same level of service from my home insurers after a claim, took a year to get £300 off them. I hope that you are on the road to recovery and eventually get some settlement. Lynn.

I had to make a claim after a fall, the first time I have ever used any medical travel insurance the company I was told would contact me sent to the wrong place, after nearly 3 hours marked as urgent I was told that I could not be treated and finally sent to a hopital. Great treated well, got all clear, it looked worse than it was. When I got home the fun began, filled in forms sent all info required. I became very unwell on a cruise ship mid-July and after being treated on the ships medical ward, I was taken to the noumea hospital for further testing. Upon returning home (21st July) I sent all my documents and proof that I had paid over $1000 in medical bills. Australia post tracking said it all arrived to insure and go on the 23rd July. Insure and Go only seem to have good reviews from people who did not place a claim. I used the annual black policy. During my holiday to South America I suffered a foot injury and I was mugged. Despite forwarding the police report, bank letters showing the cancellation of my cards, mobile cancellations, receipts of items and, if I did not have the receipts which most people do not, I forwarded proof of ownership i.e: manuals, chargers, iTunes account etc. Insure and Go will only reimburse me… Read Full Review

I've had four or five annual policies from I&G. I went for the Platinum cover with Worldwide and Winter Sports included. The whole process of going online, comparing the packages and purchasing are very good, but the problems I encountered were as a result of needing to claim, which was complicated, not user friendly, time intensive and I&G simply not understanding the basics of my claim. 1. The was an adviser who did everything OK to start with, but just wanted to get me on a plane after major surgery.... Did not answer my questions with regards to why I had to fly home after surgery.... I would avoid and take insure out with a reputable insurance company such as AXA or Allianz.
