“multitrip insurance cancelled after claim - no refund”

Having a multi trip policy with them, we were surprised that when we made a claim, they cancelled the remaining 8 months without refund, which is not an industry standard

“Terrible Customer Service”

Booked travel Insurance for my 88 year old dad to travel to corfu with us this June. he got sick a few weeks before we were due to travel and was unable to go. What a palava trying to get his money back. The first lot of documents came out with the wrong surname on , after going though things on the phone for over 30 minutes giving dates of when he went into hospial dates he was told he was unable to fly, all this and they got all the dates wrong also. Was told to get a letter from the doctor confirming he was unable to fly sent it all off, it came back saying we needed to get a medical report filled out the letter was not acceptable. It has taken 2 month to get to the point that they have now just to get the managers approval to pay his money back. Lost count of how many times I had to ring on his behalf and speak to people over things Saga got wrong on the forms sent to us. If we had known it would be this stressful for us we would never of used Saga wouldnt recommend it to anyone, My advice look at another company to deal with

“Non-EU passport”

I was travelling to France on a non EU passport and therefore had to apply for a Schengen visa. Part of the visa requirement is to have travel insurance and as I have other insurance with SAGA thought that it would be easier to get travel insurance from them -- WRONG. The person answering the telephone and underwriters did not know what a Schengen visa is and it took me so long to explain why I needed insurance for Europe and not just France that I ran out of time and had to buy other insurance to meet the visa application deadline. So effectively I bought two sets of insurance (which I did not need) because SAGA Travel did not know about a Schengen visa. I would like to emphasise that not everyone who travels from the UK has an Eu or UK passport.

“accessing policy documents online”

I just bought Saga insurance online, when they emailed the policy documents their website would not let me access them, crucial as I leave in 2 days and won't be home to collect post before I go. Instead it gave 0845 nos to ring. I rang and complained about lack of website access. Far from apologising, the operator told me that he did not like my attitude...ie that of customer annoyed by the total inconvenience of trying to get what I've paid for. Lives up to its name, turns a simple transaction into a Saga.

I also bought saga insurance online and have had the same problem of not being able to access my documents online , I rang them they said its because I was using an Apple I pad and there systems do not like apple , so I tried using my Microsoft computer , I still could can not down load my documents, I rang again they said they would send them in 5 to 7 days time , but what is the point when I should be able to down load them. After reading all these negative comments I think I will be cancelling the insurance and going else where.
