Sainsburys/First Assist do their very best not to honour a claim. Emails go unanswered and costly reverse-chargers services lines keep you on the line before refusing to even allow you to make a legitimate claim. Avoid like the plague....

I had an nasty inspect bite on holiday, I had to see a doctor, have antibiotics, antihistamin etc., The cost for doctors visit and medication was 78 euros. When i phoned sainsburys insurance to claim they said they could only pay me £11. 00. after taking off the £50 excess. They worked out the euro rate to suit themselves. When we changed our money to euros 23rd June the rate was just over 98 euro to the pound. We used to shop with sainsburys but not any more, its a matter of principal. It is...

My wife traveled to Morocco for a few days with a long standing fried. Her fried lost her passport on the way to the airport, possibly in the hiatus with the threat of riots on the day of their departure. Missed flight, has to re-but tickets. Apparently as we have 'basic' cover clause bla bla says loss of important documents is not covered. Also as she has traveled cant get money back, even though in 14 days cooling of period. Cool? I am incandesant. This is not basic cover, they are spending my...

This has to be the worst insurance on the market, still pursuing a claim for a lost holiday when Heathrow was grounded by snow on 19th Dec, despite an immediate refund of the air ticket by the airline Sainsburys are insisting on a letter from the airline saying that no flights were available in the coming days to support the canceled accommodation claim - for a one week holiday! I'm still trying to get the letter from the airline. The staff are rude and clearly trained to frustrate claims. When...

I got stranded by the French national strike at Bergerac. I received what turned out to be inaccurate information when I phoned them from France. I lived two days like a monk. Fortunately I kept absolutely every ticket/boarding cards, receipts etc as when I claimed (only £80) they delayed constantly and tried every trick to avoid the claim including contradicting some wording on the policy. In the end, they denied me the last £20 as the they didnt take my word that the Ryanair flight...

This has to be the worst insurance cover that I have ever come across. In fact, it is so flawed and unacceptable that I am taking out separate cover with another company to ensure proper cover. In a nutshell, my husband had a skiing accident in March - the initial helpline were most helpful, but on returning to the UK to follow up the claim, they were extremely unhelpful. They use stalling tactics, excuses of lost mail, bizarre clauses and generally hope to wear you down so that you give up. To...

My complaint is with poor customer service from the 24 hr helpline. I fell and suspected that I had broken my wrist. When I rang the Helpline they just said 'go to any hospital' which I did, having to take advice from hotel receptionist. On arrival at the hospital, they said they did not honour travel insurance and that I would have to pay upfront and claim back from the insurers. When I rang the Helpline again, they would not guarantee reimbursement and I should go to another hospital. This I did...

The travel insurance claims department should advise immediately on the feasibility of a claim. As such, I know have a bill that started at $1000, and due to lagging of Sainsbury's Bank, it is now $2500 with interest. I am left with no option but to pay a US medical debt collection agency, even though I have paid 3 years premiums to Sainsbury's AND followed all the rules....
