My husband fell ill hours before we were due to fly home from Tunisia - I called Tesco immediately and they could not have been more understanding or helpful. They promptly guaranteed my husbands treatment as well as my accommodation at the clinic we were staying in.

They called me almost daily to check on our progress and were always reassuring and polite. On our discharge from the clinic after 5 days we were booked on the next available flight home and experienced no problems in spite of the bookings being made remotely. We even got to stay in our original accommodation the night before we flew. I would use them again for our travel insurance and while I can sympathise with other's negative experiences we found them to be professional, helpful and attentive.

Do not touch Tesco Travel Insurance. You will not be able to make a claim. Had a completely ligitimate case but they refused to pay based upon interpretation of words in the contract. I will definately get my money back from small claims court as we have such a strong case. It seems like they refuse almost all claims and make the consumer take further action either via FSO or small claims court. This reduces the amount they have to pay out as most people, once their claim is rejected, wil ...

I had a truely horrendous experience with Tesco Travel Insurance. We had to cancel our holiday at the last minute as I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly. My Doctor advised me not to travel as we were due to go to Africa in an area where I would need to take maleria tablets. I range Tesco and was told that I could not claim under the terms of their policy.

I suffered an early miscarriage a week later. After the shock had worn off, I rang up to inform them of this and was told that I still co ...

I purchased Tesco annual travel insurance in March 2008 and booked August 2008 for my daughters wedding in Mauritius for Sept 2009. In December 2008 we found out my dad had cancer. I have just come to renew my annual insurance with Tesco and have been told that if I have to cancel I will not be covered as this is a new policy, I would need to have booked and travelled before the insurance ran out. I would not recommend annual insurance as we are now not covered if my dad becomes really ill eve ...

I took out a travel insurance policy with tesco earlier in the year, which covered delayed baggage. I flew with Ryanair to germany, and , my bag was delayed. The bag was then found and I received it 36hours later, 12 hours after the required time for a small £100 compensation payment from my insurance policy [not enough to resupply me with what I needed for the time, but anyway].I have now had several calls with tesco, correspondence which involved emails I had to print and send (no custo ...

.today i am told that the claim has been refused....

I was told that as my suitcase had been out of sight then I had no claim. I could only claim whilst it was in my sight. Who is going to take stuff from the case while you have it in your sight!

I was booked to go to America last July, unfortunatly the day before my flight, my mother sadly passed away. After the inital shock my husband tried to claim from Tesco Travel Insurance on my behalf the flight, which was I though covered by my policy. I was told to forward a copy of the death certificate, which I did, and was then informed that they needed permission to access my mothers doctors records! They said that if she was ill prior to me booking a flight then the policy was null and void ...

Summary: Making a claim from Tesco Travel Insurance was like getting in the boxing ring with Mike Tyson, it felt like Tesco made every effort to duck and dive out of any payment.

My experience was very difficult, very slow and made me regret taking out a cheap policy.

From the start of claim it took 5 months to receive a payout. I had about 15 phone conversations and multiple letters toing and throing over nit picking queries from Tesco. Final payout was around half of the original claim, ...

I ordered Tesco Travel Insurance for a recent trip to Canada.
It was all a bit last minute so ordered only the day before. I was told I would receive a confirmation email confirming the policy but this never arrived.
Upon arriving back in Heathrow my flight was cancelled due to snow. I was on Standby for the rest of the day until the Airline said I would have to get the first flight in the morning. I quickly reviewed the policy document on the Tesco Website and was comfortable this would cover t ...

Made a travel claim after being mugged in Tenerife and the whole process took five months of sending receipts, quotes , letters and telephone calls. A total and utter disgrace too much to write down i would be here all day. I would advise anyone against taking out a policy with Tesco, i choose them as they were one of the more expensive quotes and therefore expected a good policy. How wrong I was. I will never use Tesco insurance for anything again no matter how cheap.

Not a great deal of money involved, but an annoying lack of comprehension. We were traveling with a ferry company departing from Dover at 8a.m. After 3/4 hour the ferry stopped at sea. The captain announced that their had been an engine failure. We bobbed about for several hours before being told we would have to return to Dover! At 3PM we were back in Dover with no ferry until the following day. We stayed at a b&b until the following day. When I tried to make a claim I was told that if the bo ...

We had to cancel our holiday two days before we were due to go to Turkey July 2007, due to my husband being rushed into hospital, where one of the male nurses told us if we had gone away he would have lost his leg due to a severe infection. They were very sympathetic and said that they would send the paperwork on for us to fill in.
Since then we have had nothing but a roundabout.
After many forms and phone calls, we finally seemed to be getting somewhere after we spoke to a woman in December 2 ...

My wife and I took out a Tesco Annual Travel Insurance policy in May of last year, knowing that we would be going on approx. 3 holidays through the following year. On 30th November we were due to go on a 7 day Caribbean cruise with my sister &brother in law, having paid the remaining £2500 balance of the cruise during the latter part of September. Unfortunately, my sister in law, became very ill and after suddenly being admitted to hospital passed away 3 weeks later, only a week before o ...

We spoke to the bank covering our home contents insurance, Lloyds and had a much more mature and reasonable reaction from someone who maybe understood that being robbed can also be emotionally upsetting; and also that informing the Italian police from 40, 000 feet presented some difficulties.
I would very much keep clear of Tesco in future and would recommend them to no one.

Not worth the paper it was written on. We tried to make a claim and found that no valuable items are covered unless they are with you. If they are locked in the boot of your car they are not covered. If they are locked in your apartment they are not covered. We also had two coats stolen, combined value £220.00. They were both over a year old. Tesco told us that they would only be covered if we had proof of ownership!

They do everything, under the sun, not to give you what you claim.
It is too expensive, they offer very poor service and have an unhelpful claim centre.
The biggest mistake is to buy travel insurance in a hurry without reading the reviews.
My luggage was broken and dented within a week of calling to claim, they said you should have a report from the airport as soon as you arrived to UK, then they said you should have claimed within 24 hours.
After a long flight and waiting at two airports, ...
