Unfortunately we had to cancel our family holiday due to an illness and ongoing medical tests on a close family member. We notified Tesco Travel insurance just over 2 weeks before we were due to travel that there was a possibility of cancellation but didn't actually cancel until the day before we should have gone. As the claim was due to a medical condition, the GP had to complete the declaration. The information he provided was very basic. I included a timeline showing all appointments,... (read more)

There isn't a single insurance policy on this site that never gets any negative reviews, because there's always someone who has a poor experience (often, it seems, because they've failed to listen to or read the important details of the policy). Don't let the negative reviews put you off; Tesco Travel Insurance is good. It's not the cheapest travel insurance out there, but it's still good quality for money. The three cover levels and other options on the policy allow you to tailor your quote... (read more)

Well dont try to use your Tesco Rewards Coupons when buying TTI as they will never give you them. They promise to do so, and keep promoting this product saying you can use these things but beware they never give you the retuns forms so you never get the promised deduction. I have been waiting for 3 months for these illusive coupons, I have written to two complaints depts and the CEO. NOTHING. It is amazing that that these products are traded on the open market when they just will not give... (read more)

- Everyone I spoke to over the phone (particularly the young man who originally offered the quote) was friendly, helpful and thorough.
- The price was competitive: within the range of other quotes I'd been given.
- The information I was given over the phone, by email and by post was clear and packed full of detail, giving me plenty of opportunity to make sure the policy was right for me.
- They paid out on my claim, and reasonably quickly too.
- There ARE cheaper policies out... (read more)

we tried to claim for my 3 day stay in hospital in Malta. We had to deal with both Tesco and the underwriters. Also they have just got new underwriters. They constantly passed the buck. Obviously never read important documents we sumitted and dismissed our claim for not informing them of a mild condition of asthma. The hospital report did not even mention asthma. We will never again do something as important as insurance on a website. This week our renewal notice failed to list asthma as a... (read more)

BE VERY CAREFUL when speaking to TTI on the phone. If they suggest that you convert your single trip to an annual policy, MAKE SURE that they do not suggest that you start the policy on the day of departure, as they did with me. I even asked them at the time, if the T's & C's were the same as the single trip? They said "Yes".
Outcome? When I rang to make sure we were covered for cancellation when my back went before we left, I was told that we were not covered for cancellation until the... (read more)

Tesco travell insurance is absolutely worthless, a complete and utter waste of money. I am still waiting for settlement of a perfectly legit claim from 3 months ago despite several phone calls and letters, it's got to the stage where I am about to contact the Ombudsman and also do all my shopping at Morisons.
Spread the word far and wide to help stop others waisting their hard earned money.

Tesco travel insurance. Claim was settled yesterday for an incident in January 2010. Having been mugged in Barcelona I was pretty fragile in Feb when I made the claim and the advisor I spoke to was totally unsympathetic and spoke to me as if I were the mugger rather than the victim. When I did not send back the claim form as quickly as they would like (there is no official timescale) I was harrassed with letters and phone calls but once I had done this all went very quiet. 7 phone calls and... Unfortunately I was caught up with the Volcanic ash problem so was therefore ENTITLED to £400 from Tesco.
What with 'cheques not arriving', 'not being stopped' etc my claim is still ongoing some 2 months after Tesco informed me it was being processed.
Its clear to me that Tesco make a huge profit due to not paying either suppliers or customers.
Its about time the british public stood up to them. Don't touch this Travel Insurance. It may be cheap but its pathetic. (read more)

My husband fell ill hours before we were due to fly home from Tunisia - I called Tesco immediately and they could not have been more understanding or helpful. They promptly guaranteed my husbands treatment as well as my accommodation at the clinic we were staying in.

Do not touch Tesco Travel Insurance. You will not be able to make a claim. Had a completely ligitimate case but they refused to pay based upon interpretation of words in the contract. I will definately get my money back from small claims court as we have such a strong case. It seems like they refuse almost all claims and make the consumer take further action either via FSO or small claims court. This reduces the amount they have to pay out as most people, once their claim is rejected,... (read more)

I had a truely horrendous experience with Tesco Travel Insurance. We had to cancel our holiday at the last minute as I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly. I flew with Ryanair to germany, and , my bag was delayed. The bag was then found and I received it 36hours later, 12 hours after the required time for a small £100 compensation payment from my insurance policy [not enough to resupply me with what I needed for the time, but anyway].

They do everything, under the sun, not to give you what you claim.
It is too expensive, they offer very poor service and have an unhelpful claim centre.
The biggest mistake is to buy travel insurance in a hurry without reading the reviews.

Don't be fooled by the reasonable price of Tesco Travel Insurance, as it is not worth having the policy when they won't pay out!
