Had our backpack stolen in Barcelona with 5 passports, money, car key, laptop, camera, phone, electronics and other belongings. Emergency passports cost about 105 pounds each, car key 235 pounds, etc, so it was a lot of money. Was worried that some policies say they only cover passports and money if carried on your person or in locked accommodation or safe. My son was taken ill and admitted to hospital on a family holiday to the USA. One brief phone call (3 minutes or so) was all that was required and the people on the emergency line sorted out everything with the hospital for us. Wanted a quote for my son who is going away with college. It says you get 20% off with your club card so i thought id do 2 separate quotes, one with my club card and one without. I got a quote of £13.99 with my card and then a quote of £14.49 without it....now im not a genius here but im sure that's not a 20% difference that Tesco states that you get. Took out travel insurance for a family holiday and chose the everyday cover. Unfortuntately lost my spectacles with a big wave in the sea. Although my policy states personal belongs covered apparently I'm not.!, Total rip off. Bunch of pirates. Decided to bin my club card and shop at Morrisons from now on. AVOID TESCO TRAVEL INSURANCE AT ALL COSTS! Wife and I due to go on holiday, we insured starting day of flight (NB NEVER do that!). A few hours before my mother was taken ill and into hospital. Later, I was told that Mum was gravely ill, and I decided not to go (wife went). 10 days later, Mum died. I would not recommend it to anybody, very poor customer support , 3 times phoned them , still did not receive the policy, supposed to travel tomorrow , but has only insurance policy number , never received the paperwork neither by email, post or text. They told me that they have sent it to me twice, but nobody could provide me with a tracking number. Hotmail email - they told me does not work. What about text? Unfortunately we had to cancel our family holiday due to an illness and ongoing medical tests on a close family member. We notified Tesco Travel insurance just over 2 weeks before we were due to travel that there was a possibility of cancellation but didn't actually cancel until the day before we should have gone. There isn't a single insurance policy on this site that never gets any negative reviews, because there's always someone who has a poor experience (often, it seems, because they've failed to listen to or read the important details of the policy). Don't let the negative reviews put you off; Tesco Travel Insurance is good. It's not the cheapest travel insurance out there, but it's still good quality for money. Well dont try to use your Tesco Rewards Coupons when buying TTI as they will never give you them. They promise to do so, and keep promoting this product saying you can use these things but beware they never give you the retuns forms so you never get the promised deduction. - Everyone I spoke to over the phone (particularly the young man who originally offered the quote) was friendly, helpful and thorough.
- The price was competitive: within the range of other quotes I'd been given.
- The information I was given over the phone, by email and by post was clear and packed full of detail, giving me plenty of opportunity to make sure the policy was right for me.
- They paid out on my claim, and reasonably quickly too.

we tried to claim for my 3 day stay in hospital in Malta. We had to deal with both Tesco and the underwriters. Also they have just got new underwriters. They constantly passed the buck. Obviously never read important documents we sumitted and dismissed our claim for not informing them of a mild condition of asthma. The hospital report did not even mention asthma. BE VERY CAREFUL when speaking to TTI on the phone. If they suggest that you convert your single trip to an annual policy, MAKE SURE that they do not suggest that you start the policy on the day of departure, as they did with me. I even asked them at the time, if the T's & C's were the same as the single trip? They said "Yes".

Tesco travell insurance is absolutely worthless, a complete and utter waste of money. I am still waiting for settlement of a perfectly legit claim from 3 months ago despite several phone calls and letters, it's got to the stage where I am about to contact the Ombudsman and also do all my shopping at Morisons.

Tesco travel insurance. Claim was settled yesterday for an incident in January 2010. Having been mugged in Barcelona I was pretty fragile in Feb when I made the claim and the advisor I spoke to was totally unsympathetic and spoke to me as if I were the mugger rather than the victim. Unfortunately I was caught up with the Volcanic ash problem so was therefore ENTITLED to £400 from Tesco.
What with 'cheques not arriving', 'not being stopped' etc my claim is still ongoing some 2 months after Tesco informed me it was being processed.
Its clear to me that Tesco make a huge profit due to not paying either suppliers or customers.

My husband fell ill hours before we were due to fly home from Tunisia - I called Tesco immediately and they could not have been more understanding or helpful. They promptly guaranteed my husbands treatment as well as my accommodation at the clinic we were staying in.
