    Delay after delay...Halifax kept asking for further and more information following my mother's death. Yet another form arrived three months after the event and still no satisfaction. Now they want a hospital consultant's report on my mother's death - and all this because I am claiming for an emergency return trip and cancelled holiday. What a farce...when it comes to renewal we shall be heading somewhere else.

    I have been insured with Halifax Travel Insurance since February 2008. My renewal has just arrived. Halifax have changed underwriters from St. Andrews Insurance plc to First Assist. I declared a pre-existing medical condition to Halifax for my current cover -ischaemic heart disease ( a heart attack 7 years ago) - and they were able to insure me for an extra £70.
    When I declared the same condition for my renewal the new underwriters were unwilling to insure me for any heart condition.

    Excellent communication even abroad. I haven't found any bad points. They are cheap and excellent customer service. When I needed to use them abroad they refunded my telephone calls and called me every day to see how I was. My refund of medical charges only took 5 days to arrive
