“Lack of trust in card always same excuse pin incorrect”

Written on: 29/05/2015 by LukasLucas (1 review written)

On two occasions now in two separate countries I have had trouble with my euro card. Both times rejected this last time I have a print out saying incorrect pin when I have rang the post office customer service line . this is the standard excuse they use every time. I have two receipts saying pin ok card declined so pin cannot be entered incorrect. I also checked the pin and made sure card was ok before I went on holiday this time . I have now closed the account and had to pay £5 to get it… Read Full Review

“Ripped Off Redeeming Unsused Funds!”

Written on: 28/05/2015 by Kenny200 (1 review written)

Use with Caution! I have used the PO Euro Travel Money card in the past in order to save currency conversion charges in shops and restaurants etc and found it useful. After returning, I have tended to leave any unused funds on the card for another Euro trip. So if used that way it has been fine. However, I recently used another PO Travel Money card for a trip to Australia to gain these same benefits. When I returned I had over $700 unused dollars on my card. As I wouldn't be returning to… Read Full Review

“EXPENSIVE!!”

Written on: 28/05/2015 by Henrynp376 (1 review written)

As others have said expensive to use with hidden costs, would avoid if possible. Travel cards are not a bad option if you cant get credit cards but this one is not the one to use. The extra feature of charging to refund any additional money left on the card is an insult… Read Full Review

“What a rip off The Post Office money card”

Written on: 21/05/2015 by 115Beachroad (1 review written)

It cost £11 to open it.I put £750 sterling on it to take to Thailand. Each time I used an ATM there it charged me 5percent plus £3.60 .I had £38.86p left on it when I returned to England.I tried to get this out of an ATM inEngland but no joy.I took it to the post office still no joy. They told me to ring the help line an0844 number. It would have cost a fortune to phone an 0844 number. To close the acc would cost £7.50 .I made a complaint to The Post Office in an E. Mail. They said they would… Read Full Review

Presume you mean they charge you 5 percent on the FX. I've seen this in Thailand. The real rate is 50-1. Cash and travellers cheques in the local booths will be 49.5 or better. The post office money card would be at 47.5. I also heard they charge on purchases. Better to bring a cash or stick to your visa debit or credit card

“Excellent, but download the app”

Written on: 19/05/2015 by Leticia194 (1 review written)

I ordered one of these for our roadtrip around America and was planning on loading all our money onto it. I then got a little wary reading all the reviews and took half cash and loaded a little bit onto the card. To be honest, i wish i had loaded it all on the card. this was great, the only place it didn't work was when we were trying to spend the last few dollars at the airport on the way home. I would recommend downloading the app and using free hotel wifi to check your balance... if the… Read Full Review

You told us nothing that describes value for money. Only you can get money out on it. Was the FX rate particularly attractive. Did it have a set up cost. Why didn't you use your own visa debit card or a travellers cheque?

“Stranded”

Written on: 14/05/2015 by JonasWren355 (1 review written)

Please don't use a post office travel card!!! It definitely isn't the safest way to take your money abroad. Whilst in Barcelona my daughter attempted to withdraw her money, the card was accepted at the machine and ejected, only no cash appeared. After many many phone calls, trips to the bank they refused to give her a refund, explaining they would have to investigate further!! So as she was only on a four day trip she had to borrow money from her friends. She returned home, attempted lots… Read Full Review

“Drove me up the wall........”

Written on: 09/05/2015 by Casey7 (1 review written)

Easy to put money onto the card, but just wait until you try and get money out of an ATM or log on to your account online - it's an absolute night mare with three levels of security before you even use your PIN to withdraw cash. Overly complicated to use and with hidden costs which meant that I would have been better sticking to my debit card all along as the costs in terms of charges and/or commission were a bit lower… Read Full Review

“funds available but card refused”

Written on: 02/05/2015 by pzDalrymple53 (1 review written)

Took card on recent visit to USA. Card was refused on several occasions despite funds available - apparently there is a limit to number of transactions allowed - which I was not make aware of and can find no trace of this on website - stay well clear of this card. The worst thing is I have returned with 300$ on card as I could not use it and am being offered a ridiculous exchange rate to redeem this in sterling… Read Full Review

“Took 2 months to change address”

Written on: 25/04/2015 by Brittany9 (1 review written)

Do not get. Awkward to use, as it is not clear what the limit is on how much you can take out of the ATM, and there is a charge of 2 Euro every time. And if you change address it will be a nightmare to get this done. Your emails and phone calls involve different people every time, who don't keep proper notes; they require a string of documents to prove that you have moved. Dreadful service. Don't go anywhere near it. Thomas Cook's card seems a better option, and there i may go once i get my… Read Full Review

“Mostly Useless”

Written on: 03/04/2015 by NicolasCoppola64 (1 review written)

This card has caused me numerous problems whilst living in the US. A lot of places don't accept it as payment and a lot of ATMs decline it. Online payment compatibility is very limited and additionally you cannot move money out of this account into a different one which is very infuriating unless you request for them to send the money to you via post which takes 15 days. They also have the nerve to add $2.50 in ATM fees every time a withdrawal is made which usually means you need to withdraw… Read Full Review

“Hopless registration process”

Written on: 29/03/2015 by Smart194 (1 review written)

I bought a Post Office Money card yesterday for my trip to South Africa tomorrow. I loaded it with £100.00 The registration process online is hopeless and contrantly locks you out despite keying in the correct information. Don't apply for this card, use your debit card or another form of payment on holiday. I've withdrawn my £100.00 cash from the machine, at least t allowed me to do that without a hitch… Read Full Review

“cheat”

Written on: 19/03/2015 by Brewervt33 (1 review written)

I studied The information very carefully before buying this and nowhere read anything about the 2euro cash withdrawal charge. Yes it's in the booklet you are later sent. This is therefore an unenforceable contract term! Don't get this card. Shame on you Post Office… Read Full Review

“Waste of time”

Written on: 14/03/2015

My wife's card was declined on numerous occasions when we telephoned we were assured that the problem was fixed only to have it refused. Total waste of time and their complaints dept just make up excuses. Ruined our holiday as we couldn't access the cash. Ended up having the balance repaid to our current a/c and lost even more money on that. Don't touch it! … Read Full Review

Malkym's Comment

Written on: 15/04/2015

I had exactly the same problem in New Zealand and indeed I was reassured that by withdrawing a small amount at an ATM it would reset the pin and be ok. It wasn't and to make matters worse the card was compromised. Ended up making numerous e mails and calls back to the UK ( more cost) and eventually having the true balance returned to my current a/c and ended up using debit/credit cards. Nightmare - don't touch it with a barge pole !!

“this card will cost you lots of money”

Written on: 06/03/2015 by MARKSINGLETON (1 review written)

was sold this card in a post office for Canadian dollar, promised it would only cost $2.50 in an ATM in Canada for each transaction. we were in canada for nearly 2 weeks when I put my card in an atm and it informed me I had insufficient funds, I checked my bank details when I could get wifi and discovered that for each transaction I had been charged for a conversion fee and a transaction fee, a total of $35.00 each time. we made many calls from cananda to the uk to try and resolve this problem… Read Full Review

“belt and braces security”

Written on: 17/02/2015 by Marlie304 (1 review written)

The theoretical function is good if it worked. An excess of zeal on the part of the developers of this Card to the point where it's too much of a nuisance to use. I am abroad and the useless card won't even function. Then comes the security to get into the account. access code, password, user name. After all that the card still won't function. Typical of the public sector… Read Full Review

My Girlfriend and I travelled to Australia last year for a 6 week journey.. to be safe we split the money up between several accounts and 2 Post Office Travel Money Cards ( $100 AUD ) on each.. this was as a back up just in case we had no internet coverage and could not do online banking and transfers .. we tried to use the m both on several occasions and it was just a waste of time as no cash machines recognised them.. we gave up after trying for ages over the time we needed it most.. they… Read Full Review

“Travel Money Card - Refund of Balance”

Written on: 05/02/2015 by dlYork41 (1 review written)

In October 2010, I requested a refund of the outstanding £37 credit on my card. The PO representative on the phone assured me that the refund would be in the post. Nothing happened. No phone call, letter or email. I complained by email, receiving an automated response stating that I would hear from you within seven days. Nothing. Time elapsed. I began chasing this again in November 2014, writing to the address at Temple Quay, Bristol. Again nothing. I am now sending a further letter… Read Full Review
