“Rubbish”

Written on: 20/07/2017 by JackiePickup (1 review written)

What a pile of rubbish was told by the Post Office this was the best thing to take instead of cash, I filled up the card so we could buy petrol in Europe and was only able to use it twice at an Esso Garage no other garages accepted it. Stay away from it and don't let the Post Office talk you into getting one. Waste of time!!!!!!! I didn't like anything about it, if i could give 0/5 I would… Read Full Review

“Would give 0 stars if I could! ”

Written on: 22/06/2017 by vdSalisbury96 (1 review written)

I was recommended this card in branch when I went to change money for travelling. The woman behind the counter entered my details incorrectly and then said they would email me when I asked if she's like my email address she said oh yeah I skipped that part they'll write to you! Two weeks later I had a letter asking me to send a copy of my passport which I had already done so I emailed them with my passport card number address etc another few days and they said they needed me to send the details… Read Full Review

“Waste of time ”

Written on: 02/06/2017 by Katty_kins (1 review written)

Completely useless card, is not accepted anywhere a MasterCard would be accepted, despite what they tell you. Was declined at random times even though I had suficient funds available. No matter how hard you try you can not log into to see transactions and if you use the app it isn't clear what the transactions are. Terrible, more trouble than it's worth and made my holiday more hassle. I wouldn't bother… Read Full Review

Just returned from 5 weeks in South Africa
I used the Rand card for goods and services and to withdraw cash without any problems.
Logging in on the app must be one of the easiest I have ever used. This gives you access to balance and transaction details.
I like the fact that loading the card gives you immediate access to that amount.
The pending payments are slow to clear so keep all receipts and check balance daily..
Just used it again to pay a deposit online for my next trip and receipt sent within a few hours. Excellent.

“Charged 50 euros for withdrawing 400, do not use this...”

Written on: 01/06/2017 by ThorleyM (1 review written)

I got the post office travel money card for a holiday to Portugal, the main reason that I got it was to protect against bank fees etc... however this has ended up costing me way more in fees than if I'd have just used my bank card. I withdrew 2 lots of 200 euros out of ATM, but when I checked the balance in the app and transactions it showed that it had taken 227 and 222 euros from my balance, therefore charging me 49 euros for the 2 withdrawals! I called customer services and raised a… Read Full Review

Like the above person I have just returned from Portugal and made 2 withdrawls from ATMs of 100 euros each and was charged a total of 25 euros for the "privilege".. Also whilst in the USA, card had US$s loaded and paid $185 for a meal with friends but $195 appeared on account. Queried this with customer services(?) on returning to the UK as at the time of use in US, there was only $188 on the card. They could not give a me an answer apart from me contacting the restaurant. This I declined as it would have cost me more in phone charges than $10. Suggested their payment processor but they declined. NOT IMPRESSED; VERY UNHELPFUL

“Rubbish - do not use”

Written on: 01/06/2017 by 48Powell (1 review written)

My partner and I got 2 separate cards. Although set up for use, for the entire 2 week holiday my card was 'locked' & I could not access my money. My partner's card worked once and then could not be used. The contact number for help was never answered and despite emailing customer services on 13 May, I have only just received a response email. I continue to wait for my money to be refunded… Read Full Review

It is because of the option you are selecting at the ATM. This is not the cards fault it is the ATM that is xonverting it to GBP and back to Thai Baht. Call customer services or read the terms and conditions and they will explain to you what option you have to pick to avoid these charges.

“Don't rely on it.”

Written on: 16/05/2017 by Mopane (1 review written)

Staff at the post office very helpfull setting up two cards but it was not a resounding success in Africa as after several days of use had some 'card declined' 'too many incorrect pin tries' at hotels. Could have been embarrassing. Did not let card out of sight during transactions so do not know why. Lucky we had credit cards and other cash so the belt and braces method is still recommended. That said it iseemed better than some of the other cards on offer and the balance was still there when… Read Full Review

very annoyed that balances from the old card don't go onto new card. You have to re-apply for a new card and produce new ID then put another £50 on to start it up then have to phone to get old balance transferred to new card. What a performance same e-mail address but cannot transfer old balance onto a new card.
Once spent wont be using again.

If you didn't like the rate why did you continue to take out the card and complain? Just use your credit card then

“USELESS and STRESSFUL”

Written on: 12/04/2017 by dolegendre9 (1 review written)

The first POST OFFICE travel money card that I used had its details hacked from a machine and money was drawn from my account, so even though the card was technically not stolen, I had to report it as stolen. Although I tried to view my transactions online, for some reason this was impossible and I could not see how much had been taken from the card. In spite of reporting this and being told that a temporary block would be put on the card, no further explanantions of what would then happen… Read Full Review

“Not suitable for backpacking on a budget”

Written on: 28/03/2017 by Hahnoe171 (1 review written)

Got this card so that I would have my budget for travelling and flights back without having to use my debit card. Went off to Asia with a big smile. Unfortunately most of the places I stayed wouldn't accept card payment, so I had to take money out of ATMs every so often (the maximum I could) - charged at £5 per withdrawal. I then tried to take money from the card at a major bank company, thinking it would be cheaper to take a large amount out in one go, but it wasn't accepted as I needed… Read Full Review

Firstly there is no £5 for taking money out at an ATM it is £1.50. Any additional charge on that was the ATM you chose to take money out of so not the actual cards fault (read the terms and conditions next time). There is a limit to how much you can take from the card each day just like with a regular bank card. If you forget your login details you can use a memorable answer to send yourself out details. Your sister would need to verify her identity as this is a pre paid card that requires security procedures to be carried back out, again lol all explained in the terms and conditions

“TERRIBLE - UNRELIABLE (AND EXPENSIVE)”

Written on: 26/03/2017 by postofficetravelcardsuckssobad (1 review written)

If I could give this ZERO STARS, I would. I have it for a big trip in South America. The main problem is that IT DOES NOT WORK in most retail card payment machines (shops, restaurants, transport, tour agents). It gives an error saying "invalid parameter size". It does not work in about 75% of these places. It's so stressful because you can't rely on being able to pay by card. You have to make sure you have enough cash just in case. And, even though in principle you can withdraw £300… Read Full Review
