“Shocking service ”

Written on: 07/04/2016 by lxDonnelly160 (1 review written)

The post office has debited over $600 from our account in error, we have attempted to contact their customer service on numerous occasions without success. I am so angry right now, they have actually stolen out money and are making us jump through hoops to get it back. Avoid anything to do with post office money, bunch of amateurs… Read Full Review

“Get a differnt card, not this one!! NO STARS!”

Written on: 01/04/2016 by dr-john49 (1 review written)

When you return from abroad, the time it takes to receive back any unspent currency is ridiculous. They quote fifteen days, but this is not speeled out to you when you get the card! I returned from holiday on 13 March and tried to get my money back on 14 March and I am still waiting!!! I contacted PO and said the wait was inappropriate and was told its in the terms and conditions so it was up to me to read these. That is a bit difficult as you do not get these until after you get the card!!… Read Full Review

“Never Again ”

Written on: 26/02/2016 by Judah221 (1 review written)

I did not use half the amount loaded on the card. Tried to redeem it at my local PO on return but told I would have to ring to obtain a letter from travel money card. After 2 weeks no letter had been received so chased them to be told the process takes three weeks. In the age of electronic banking this is ridiculous after all they were able to accept my payment on to the card in three days so why does the process not work in reverse or better still facilitate local PO branches so they are able… Read Full Review

I agree that this is ridiculous. I returned from holiday on 13 March and tried to get my money back on 14 March and I am still waiting!!! I contacted PO and said the wait was inappropriate and was told its in the terms and conditions so it was up to me to read these. That is a bit difficult as you do not get these until after you get the card!! Also, I had a Eurochange Multicurrency Cash passport. I went tp a branch and got my money back immediately. Why does the Post Office need to take so long?

“Post Office Travel Card - AVOID”

Written on: 30/01/2016 by timothy222 (1 review written)

Their customer service when things go wrong is terrible. I had to chase them multiple times to get money returned to me that was owed, and they still have only paid back half of the money 2 months later. AVOID… Read Full Review

“Complicated, difficult to get it registered”

Written on: 29/01/2016 by ToddGutierrez (1 review written)

I found this very complicated to get it registered with all the passwords etc. Upon coming back from holiday with a balance unspent what a ridiculous carry on to try and get money back. Took a week to get a letter with a password on - went to post office with passport - queued for one hour - eventually got the money back at a very bad buy back rate. Would never ever bother with all the hassle again… Read Full Review

“Using post office travel card in New Zealand”

Written on: 25/01/2016

It is very hard to find a machine in New Zealand that doesn't charge you an extra $3.50 to withdraw cash and I was also disappointed with the fact that the post office charge you $7 to close the account and their exchange rate is very poor… Read Full Review

“No no no!!!!”

Written on: 21/01/2016 by DanielleHubbard (1 review written)

I got back from holiday and received a letter from the post office to say I owed them $500. I didn't understand why as you pre pay a certain amount that you want to spend and when it's gone it's gone. When I phoned up the man explained there had been a glitch in the system that was giving a false reading of more money in the account than there was. Obviously we had no idea as were on holiday just spending our money. Now their wanting it back. The whole point of this card is for situations like… Read Full Review

“DON'T GET ONE!!!”

Written on: 07/01/2016 by Tara311 (1 review written)

Had problems loading money onto this card. It accepted my password of lower and upper case letters when setting up, but only recognised lower case letters when logging on. After my holiday it took over 2 months to get my £600 balance back off the card. Numerous phone calls later, a document that didn't turn up in the post, a promise of an email that would take 15 working days to sent but I still never got, and a threat of writing to financial ombudsman I finally got my money. Customer service… Read Full Review

“Very uncompetitive exchange rates”

Written on: 22/12/2015 by GWilson2015 (1 review written)

I used four prepaid cards - US$, Can$, NZ$ and Aus$. I have to admit that I never experienced the card being rejected by shops or restaurants. However, I was dismayed to find that withdrawing cash on the cards always resulted in a charge by the ATM company as well as the fee that the Post Office charged - a double whammy every time. I found the top up rates were not competitive with other sources. I was totally incredulous when I heard the rates that were to be used to refund the remaining… Read Full Review

“Appalling!”

Written on: 04/12/2015 by Ayanna438 (1 review written)

- Wasn't sure if I had remembered my PIN correctly. - Had great difficulty in getting access to the site. - Asked for help (email) to get memorable information etc to unlock - Took over two weeks to get a sensible reply - so many over the top security questions. I had gone and come back before I was able to get access to the site. - Since then I have tried to gain access - the IT system does not even recognise the number of the card, let alone being able to log in with the correct details -… Read Full Review

“Avoid Post Office Travel Money Card”

Written on: 30/11/2015 by osprey888 (1 review written)

Appalling customer service just as others have found for themselves. This travel card caused so much INCONVENIENCE while travelling South America instead of the advertised "Convenience" Spent so much time out of our enjoyable travel trying to get our money out! Most places refused MasterCard recognising Visa only. When we did find an ATM that accepted the card like others have reported we had the problem with a daily limit. The charges have been awful and now have to pay my credit card which I… Read Full Review

“PO Travelcard=Total rubbish !!!!”

Written on: 23/11/2015 by jillygirl (1 review written)

There is NO concept of customer service, the IT is useless as it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to re-load money as the on-line system is useless. It never works - my partner and I have tried lap tops, tablets PC's, different search engines. No joy just get locked out time after time after time. Wastes hours and hours and sends blood pressure soaring...then when you complain they have the audacity to say [smuggly] ''well it's working fine this end'' Der...no ...you've got a massive roll out problem to… Read Full Review

“Rip off and mis-sold”

Written on: 07/11/2015

Went into the post office to buy US dollars and was sold a pre-paid MasterCard. It was explained to me how much safer it is and how easy it is to use. What wasn't explained to me is that 1. Most U.S. ATMs charge an additional rate to withdraw ON TOP of the $2.50 charged by the post office per transaction. 2. To get any outstanding balance refunded takes between 8 and 15 days and you have to call the customer service number. 3. The exchange rate for doing so is very uncompetitive and much… Read Full Review

“Daily limit!”

Written on: 30/10/2015 by Rodney1971 (1 review written)

I'm currently in New York, with my trusty card! Or so I thought:) we were slightly embarrassed last night whilst trying to pay for a meal. Card was rejected, tried twice. Gave up and used my credi card, this defeats the while idea!! Have been reading other reviews and found that for security there is a daily limit spend. Great, not! Totally ridiculous. I'll b withdrawing the balance and using the cash. My advice, don't bother!… Read Full Review

“NOT RELIABLE EMBARRASSING TO USE”

Written on: 21/10/2015 by SurveyorJohn (1 review written)

I liked the idea of a card in Euros that I could use to pay for petrol, restaurants and supermarket goods without the normal commission rates on standard cards. Thought this Post Office card would do the job. I thought it was a British Institution that one could respect. I now find out its run by Clydesdale Bank PLC and nothing to do with the Post Office. (GB). I've now done 3 trips to Europe and my card turned out to be waste of time. Not accepted by a number of outlets, its a MasterCard and… Read Full Review

Personally I don't see why I should have to pay a high rate to exchange my money back to sterling on the grounds I was led to belief this was a good choice.numerous times I had to walk out of shops coffee bars, ice cream parlours and twice restaurants due to the fact they didn't except these cards… Read Full Review

“Don't bother”

Written on: 09/10/2015 by claireevans90 (1 review written)

Exactly the same theme as many of the others. We had over 1000 Canadian dollars left over on our travel money card which post office quoted a price of £475 to buy back, or an exchange of 2.3 dollars to the pound. Funny that nowhere else on the internet had this exchange rate, everywhere else was 1.9 dollars at the most. Will NEVER use the card again. Will NEVER recommend it to anyone I know. They are robbing you so you're better off taking the cash out and taking the risk with all the other… Read Full Review

“Bad advice with Post Office MoneyTravel Cards”

Written on: 20/09/2015 by AKH1003 (1 review written)

If you are going on holiday DO NOT PURCHASE a POST OFFICE MONEY CARD as we did. We had money left on return and the Post Office are trying to rip us off to a tune of over £150. My wife and I purchased 2 travel money cards at Oldfield Brow Post Office, Altrincham on the recommendation of the lady behind the counter when we went in to order cash. A safer option she said. We put £750 on each, purchased some cash in US and Barbadian dollars, and a couple of days later went away on holiday. We… Read Full Review

“Frustrating piece of useless plastic - AVOID”

Written on: 18/09/2015

Had problems registering card initially. Balance wouldn't update on app so had no idea of available balance on holiday. When it came to topping up the balance I couldn't log in to my account. After contacting customer services on MANY occasions, was told they couldn't help me and it would cost me 6 euros to cancel, through no fault of my own. Save yourself the stress before going on holiday and get another card… Read Full Review
