Don't want to waste any more of my holiday, but just to say that it's expensive and time consuming to try to sort things out by mobile phone when it goes wrong, and customer services are too slow to respond to emails when you're stuck abroad - 24 hours is a long time when the card won't work so you're forced to ring… Read Full Review

“Worst Don't buy”

I ordered some travel money online and was asked to collect in local branch. I got my email receipt to collect the money from the named post office. Our local branch unable to process or give me that money. They tried to contact their office and couldn't reach them even after 55 min(waiting call). The money has taken from my account. “Wouldn't even recommend to someone I don't like!!”

I had major problems with these cards in Australia and New Zealand last year the amount of times I couldn't use them or even upload extra funds was unbelievable. I spent so much time and money contacting customer services in the UK I thought things had changed this year I was assured that there would not be any problems yet I haven't even stepped on the plane yet for my holiday and I am already experiencing difficulties. Couldn't agree more with this review. The same thing happened to us in the states in May of this year. Customer service was appalling no help whatsoever they told me to go spend and try to pay for it with the card, and the phone call cost me a fortune.
At the end of the day what they seem to forget is this was OUR money not theirs. Anyone considering using the post office currency card should seriously make sure they have a backup bank card or credit card or they could be in trouble.

They know how to ruin a good holiday

The post office has debited over $600 from our account in error, we have attempted to contact their customer service on numerous occasions without success. “Get a differnt card, not this one!! NO STARS!”

When you return from abroad, the time it takes to receive back any unspent currency is ridiculous. They quote fifteen days, but this is not speeled out to you when you get the card! I returned from holiday on 13 March and tried to get my money back on 14 March and I am still waiting!!! I contacted PO and said the wait was inappropriate and was told its in the terms and conditions so it was up to me to read these. I wish I had read this before getting a post office card. They take your money in cash very easily, but are not so good at returning your cash at the end of the holiday.

10 to 14 days to get your money back in a cheque form but if you're unlucky the cheque doesn't turn up and guess what..they quote another 10 days to cancel the missing cheque and another 5 to 10 working days to get another cheque sent out.

I will never ever use one of these cards again. I'm still waiting for my £790....

Sorry to hear this. I had to wait ages too, but I did not have the missing cheque problem. I had no problem getting money back from TravelMoney. They gave me it straight away.

I did not use half the amount loaded on the card. Tried to redeem it at my local PO on return but told I would have to ring to obtain a letter from travel money card. After 2 weeks no letter had been received so chased them to be told the process takes three weeks. In the age of electronic banking this is ridiculous after all they were able to accept my payment on to the card in three days so why does the process not work in reverse or better still facilitate local PO branches so they are able… Read Full Review

I agree that this is ridiculous. I returned from holiday on 13 March and tried to get my money back on 14 March and I am still waiting!!! That is a bit difficult as you do not get these until after you get the card!! Also, I had a Eurochange Multicurrency Cash passport. I went tp a branch and got my money back immediately. Why does the Post Office need to take so long?

“Complicated, difficult to get it registered”

I found this very complicated to get it registered with all the passwords etc. Upon coming back from holiday with a balance unspent what a ridiculous carry on to try and get money back. Took a week to get a letter with a password on - went to post office with passport - queued for one hour - eventually got the money back at a very bad buy back rate. I got back from holiday and received a letter from the post office to say I owed them $500. I didn't understand why as you pre pay a certain amount that you want to spend and when it's gone it's gone. “DON'T GET ONE!!!”

Had problems loading money onto this card. It accepted my password of lower and upper case letters when setting up, but only recognised lower case letters when logging on. After my holiday it took over 2 months to get my £600 balance back off the card. “Very uncompetitive exchange rates”

I used four prepaid cards - US$, Can$, NZ$ and Aus$. I have to admit that I never experienced the card being rejected by shops or restaurants. There is NO concept of customer service, the IT is useless as it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to re-load money as the on-line system is useless.
