Unless you intend to use every last dollar/euro on your pre-paid card DO NOT obtain one from the post office. Ridiculously poor buy back rate. Loaded card with £400 worth of US dollar, spent equivalent of£10. But only getting back £334 ! Money is not returned directly back to bank account - need a letter first and then queue up att a post office to receive own money back! “Terrible ”

Do not use this product. The post office counter staff failed to load my card with my £700 of cash. I ended up stranded in America with an empty card. I rang customer services numerous times, but they didnt know where my money was. They promised to ring me back, but never did. Thank goodness i had my receipt, or I would never have got my money back. It was the worst customer service i have ever experienced. “Lost money”

Loaded the Post Office Travel Money Card in the UK with US$ and it worked fine. I did not spend as much as I thought I would and asked for the money left on the card to be reimbursed. This takes at least 15 working days as they dont start to process until 7 days after your request, which I can understand as there may be transactions outstanding. “Total embarrassment!”

Bought PO Travel card for our stay in New York. Intended to pay our hotel bill but the card was refused. Very embarrassing for us as we were recalled to reception frequently over this. We rang the help-line from New York which was complicated, expensive and of little use. We had intended to top up the card in order to pay restaurants, etc. but daren't risk it. Bought one for my daughter to go travelling in her gap year! We found we were only given partially correct advice at the post office when we purchased the card as a result * The card was initially blocked because she already had a card registered at a previous address. I purchased a card in the post office and they made a mistake with my address. This meant I was unable to top-up my card online or on the phone. The next few days were hell just trying to get the post office to change my address. I spoke to 5 different people and a supervisor, all gave me different information. The card was useless abroad as I could not top it up after they promised they would, the helpline is 0844 number and goes on for so long before you get to an adviser! Had this card last year, topped it up & had absolutely no problems using it. This year however, we only took half our money in cash as we thought it would be safer, towards the last 3 days of our holiday we decided to withdraw the full amount off the card. Went to the bank, put the card in & the machine swallowed it up. Think very carefully before purchasing these cards. Myself and partner purchased 3 cards in Euro's as we thought it was safer than using credit or debit cards abroad. The first time we tried to withdraw money only one card worked so we still ended up using debit cards. On return to the UK i went through the lengthy process of changing the passwords but still one card would not work. Having used this card a couple of times in Portugal I tried to use it in Belgium, couldn't use it at petrol station as they aren't online. I have asked to have the balance refunded, to do this I have to wait 15 days before I get a letter which I have to take to a Post Office with ID to receive cash refund. Come on PO join the 21st Century, why can't you refund back to the registered debit card I used to top it up in the first place! “What a frustrating waste of time”

I've had a travel money card for several years but only used it for one trip, and then only using it to withdraw cash from at ATM with no problems. Just before my most recent trip I decided to use it again, also this time in conjunction with the Android app. After repeatedly contacting customer service for password resets (customer service is first class, answer promptly, very helpful so no complaint there) I got my card working. I went to China for 4 weeks, the exchange rate and fees from my bank were worse than the post office so I chose to have the travel money card plus. Worst idea ever!! After taking Chinese Yuan in cash as well as the card, obviously I needed to withdraw money from, tried twice and the ATM timed out (biggest bank in China) so it's not the ATM that was faulty, as I then managed to withdraw a little bit money. “The worst thing to rely on for your holiday ever. ”

I got one of these for my trip to the US. I was able to load it up at the post office when I first got it, and was able to register the card, yet when I got to the US, I couldn't log in to check my balance or top-up. For the week I as there the log-in page was totally unavailable, and here is no chat facility to speak to someone for free, they expect you to make expensive calls back home just to speak to someone about the problem. Firstly, I was told in store that I could put up to £5000 worth of dollars onto the travel card once registered. This wasn't possible. I had to send off many forms of proof of identity to get the card upgraded which took a week to process. Once it was supposedly upgraded I still couldn't put money onto the card! It was only after many calls to my bank and customer services that I was able to do so. “Unreliable product & poor customer service from Post...”

Do not use this product. Shops, restaurants and vendors in Europe reserve the right not to accept the Post Office Money Card. I loaded money onto one of these after being assured by the Post Office that everywhere in Europe accepts them. "It's just like a credit card" I was told. I was abroad for three weeks. I went into the post office to get Euros for my holiday to Greece. The guy recommended I take out a Post Office Pre Paid credit card as it was "free." I liked the idea of checking my balance and topping it up online while away. I tried accessing my balance online using my ID & password. When taking out card wasn't told it was a basic card and I needed to upgrade it when received. Loaded £600 at time then loaded another £500 no problem. Next day received text message from post office to contact them I rang and was told I could only load maximum of £750 and they would give me the money back that I had gone over by . I have no idea what other people are doing with their PO Euro cards, because ours worked flawlessly whilst abroad for 18 days in France and Spain. I used it I about 20 different places in both countries. We purchased fast food, bought car tyres, toys, paid for meals and hotels.
