This card is total rubbish as I have had problems from day one of getting it in April ! First of all when I was abroad it did not recognise my PIN number then it locked and I was stuck abroad with no access to the money I had put on it ! I e mailed from abroad to customer services and was sent a computer generated message telling me they would be in touch within 10 days ! Seen a few complaints from people on here who must be using the Post Office Multi-Currency Card wrong in shops and at the ATM. If you use this card or any debit card abroad you should always choose to settle in local currency. The majority of shops or ATMs will give you the first option of settling in sterling DON'T CHOOSE THIS OPTION as the banks charge you a dynamic currency conversion....its not the Post Office charge.The P.O. card has no charges in shops and restaurants and just equivalent… Read Full Review

“Terrible Customer Service”

We have had a TMC for several years and had no problems with it until now. I have not found the fees charged to be expensive nor have I ever had it declined when abroad. My problem is occurred when I have been given a replacement card and have tried to top it up online only to find it impossible. getting a an error message each time from the post office. When using your card at ATM and cash outs it should automatically default to the currency of the country you are in . It does not and you get exchange fees to pay. A £300 daily limit for withdrawals from ATM. More Fees. Only average exchange rates. This card is more trouble than its worth… Read Full Review

Got the card as an emergency source of funds for my son on his trip abroad . Did not use it tried to get the money back off it and was initially told I could not and then I would have to pay commission . Put 225eu on it and got 185eu back . What a pile of rubbish was told by the Post Office this was the best thing to take instead of cash, I filled up the card so we could buy petrol in Europe and was only able to use it twice at an Esso Garage no other garages accepted it. Gotten my card as a new traveler to the U.K., was told I had to supply 1001 documents. They refused to reply to my email or even tell me what exactly they needed from me. I had to keep calling and chasing them and also had to keep sending my documents and every time it came back with a different requirement. I was recommended this card in branch when I went to change money for travelling. The woman behind the counter entered my details incorrectly and then said they would email me when I asked if she's like my email address she said oh yeah I skipped that part they'll write to you! I paid in £50 sterling usage as well as money for euros to make sure it worked ok before I went abroad and was charged £3 for the £50 I put on it. I had thought there was no charge for paying in.Only had to use it once for Euros in Cyprus no problem then though… Read Full Review

Completely useless card, is not accepted anywhere a MasterCard would be accepted, despite what they tell you. Was declined at random times even though I had suficient funds available. No matter how hard you try you can not log into to see transactions and if you use the app it isn't clear what the transactions are. Just returned from 5 weeks in South Africa
I used the Rand card for goods and services and to withdraw cash without any problems.
Logging in on the app must be one of the easiest I have ever used. This gives you access to balance and transaction details.
I like the fact that loading the card gives you immediate access to that amount.
The pending payments are slow to clear so keep all receipts and check balance daily..
Just used it again to pay a deposit online for my next trip and receipt sent within a few hours. Excellent.

I got the post office travel money card for a holiday to Portugal, the main reason that I got it was to protect against bank fees etc... however this has ended up costing me way more in fees than if I'd have just used my bank card. I withdrew 2 lots of 200 euros out of ATM, but when I checked the balance in the app and transactions it showed that it had taken 227 and 222 euros from my balance, therefore charging me 49 euros for the 2 withdrawals! Like the above person I have just returned from Portugal and made 2 withdrawls from ATMs of 100 euros each and was charged a total of 25 euros for the "privilege".. Also whilst in the USA, card had US$s loaded and paid $185 for a meal with friends but $195 appeared on account. Queried this with customer services(?) on returning to the UK as at the time of use in US, there was only $188 on the card. They could not give a me an answer apart from me contacting the restaurant. This I declined as it would have cost me more in phone charges than $10. Suggested their payment processor but they declined. NOT IMPRESSED; VERY UNHELPFUL

My partner and I got 2 separate cards. Although set up for use, for the entire 2 week holiday my card was 'locked' & I could not access my money. If you are having issues finding out your balance the company has a 24 hour customer services telephone line you can call. They will help you with logging in online and provide you with a balance.

I've just experienced the exact same problem with cash withdrawals on this card, disgraceful! I had it to protect against bank fees but ended up hit with really high ones

It is because of the option you are selecting at the ATM. This is not the cards fault it is the ATM that is xonverting it to GBP and back to Thai Baht. Call customer services or read the terms and conditions and they will explain to you what option you have to pick to avoid these charges.

Staff at the post office very helpfull setting up two cards but it was not a resounding success in Africa as after several days of use had some 'card declined' 'too many incorrect pin tries' at hotels. Could have been embarrassing. Did not let card out of sight during transactions so do not know why. Lucky we had credit cards and other cash so the belt and braces method is still recommended. very annoyed that balances from the old card don't go onto new card. You have to re-apply for a new card and produce new ID then put another £50 on to start it up then have to phone to get old balance transferred to new card. What a performance same e-mail address but cannot transfer old balance onto a new card.
Once spent wont be using again.
