    Took the travel card to the Southern States of the US (Texas) and thankfully I took a credit card and cash as well. I struggled to find shops and restaurants who could accept the card. Most propieters had not seen a travel money card before and where at times perplexed. The local ATM's were a little better once you managed to use them correctly with the card.

    In a nutshell a good idea but not used enough on the ground to be a reliable travel tool.

    For my purposes (avoiding fees on RyanAir) - Post Office Travel Money Card is EXCELLENT and has worked every time.
    Others may have had technical problems but I think a lot of these reviews have not read the conditions, instructions and limitations of the card.

    I have had no problems using the Post Office Travel Money Euro card as a Visa Electron card to buy tickets on Ryanair without being charged fees! (Its a great card- just not for travelling purposes). If you are going to a familiar place- it saves the hassle of cash.

    AVOID AVOID AVOID. Absolutely useless i took the Post Office Travel Money Card out 2-3 months before i went away activated it gave it a pin number and topped it up with cash and was totally unable to use it when i went abroad!

    When I last put more money into my euro travel card it was not available to use for over four days.After 48 hours I contacted customer services to be told nothing could be done,after four days again told I would just have to wait until it became available,as you can imagine I had had enough and phoned again a bit less polite and it was sorted in seconds. Do I trust the Post Office Travel Money card, no way take cash.

    Getting the Post Office Travel Money Card is the worst thing we ever did! Because the computer system is undergoing essential maintenance on the busiest weekend of the holiday season with no backup, we are unable to activate our card. This means the first 2 days of our trip we will not have access to any money. We now have to activate the card abroad at our expense. Apparently it is impossible to refund the money we've added to the card. We can't cancel the holiday and now need to see if some ...

    This is awful and customer service concerning the card is terrible. They know virtually nothing about it in post office branches and staff on the 'helpline' or rude and unhelpful. DO NOT get a Post Office travel money card.

    I have had a number of these post office travel cards and I could not recommend the Post Office card. I had it refused on a number of occasions abraod despite there being sufficient funds on it. If you are going to use this card make sure you take currency with you as well.

    Can't get access to the money on the Post Office Travel Money card due to a technical fault. Going away tomorrow morning and don't have any access to my Euros. DO NOT get this travel money card, honestly it has ruined my holiday already and I haven't even left yet.

    The Post Office Travel Money Card is secure and safe, all problems in previous review are due to not reading terms and conditions!!

    I would never use the Post Office Tranvel Cards again.

    I travelled to the Netherlands with my partner. We put all our savings put on to the travel and when we arrived in Amsterdam we were told that there had been a technical hitch and our money would not be available to 48 hours.

    We managed to speak to the lady we were renting out boathouse from and she agreed to wait until the money had gone through to our card before paying the deposit, however, after the 48 hours was up there was still no ...

    Post Office Travel Money Card is really easy to use - just like using my debit card. Readily accepted in Paris, Disneyland Paris in both cash machines and to pay for train tickets. I even managed to use in a small tabac in the South of France with no problems.
    We used also in Germany and Bruges. Saves me getting charged astronomical fees by my bank. I also like the fact that its more secure - as my friend's card was cloned in Spain a couple of years ago.

    My daughter is doing 6 months in the far east. Every time she uses the card it costs £2. Fair enough. What I did not know was that it costs two quid both ends , ie £4. On top of charging £7.50 to top it up with £500. In my opinion it's overcharged for what it is. She tried her ordinary bank card in China, it worked and her charge was £1.50 all in. So now she uses her bank card and has ditched her Post Office Travel Money Card.

    You go into the Post Office, present your passport plus proof of your address and immediately you are given your Travel Money Card, you transfer money from your bank account on to it and that is that, so far so good, it was easy, however when you return from holiday and still have Euros on the card getting the money back is like going through a mystical maze where you always end up at a brick wall.     The Post Office Travel Money Card has been a NIGHTMARE! - When puchased at the post office the staff I spoke to only knew half the story.

    I purchased the card with £400 loaded onto it. When I had used much of this, I asked my parents to transfer more funds onto the card. This has to be done by visiting a post office and cannot be done over the phone by a third party. (Inconvenient and slow)

    Disappointed with the service... I came back from holiday with paper Euro's which I wanted to "Pay in" to my Euro account. I was told I had to convert my euro's into sterling at a cost to myself, then, convert the stirling back into Euro's at my cost again before it could be added to my account in euro's! (Which I had in the first place). In addition to this they wanted to charge me a further 3 euro's for the making a deposit!

    I got stuck and wanted petrol, but could not use the Post Office Travel Money Card even though the card had enough money on it. Luckily I had a PAYPAL prepay card also loaded.
    It is not easy to load it or to determine the balance on the card.
    The card suppliers need to be thinking about online administration for the card, to allow 24 hour immediate loading of the card. The current over-the-phone loading takes 48 hours, which is useless in emergences.

    If I had any lingering faith in the Post Office, I have now completely lost it. This Travel Money Card is disastrously poorly designed and supported - I wish now I had simply changed my money and put it in a money belt. What is really galling is that there are pre-paid credit cards, available from the newsagent around the corner, that would have turned out to be preferable to this card (it's not even 'chip and pin' - and I'm wonderiing now how reliable the information the cashier gave me about " ...

    My daughter got one of these recently. She went abroad with it, and unfortunately without her bank card. A few days later a letter arrived for her. With her permission, I opened it. It was asking for more ID for credit checks. Card could not be loaded with money until done.
