Good Points: Esoteric thought and practise. Well thought out interesting series can be of interest to everyone
Bad Points: Nothing exoteric
General comments: Introduction~~
Chi is your life force you can not walk one step with out it. You can build it up in your body but what can you do with this power? One thing you can do is hold back gangs of people trying to push you over alone with out help.
Chris Crudelli is your tour guide on this trip through the world of esoteric wisdom. He meets various martial artists from the East all with different forms of this power the power of Chi of esoteric wisdom. I have been in fights using these arts so know how useful they are as a reaction becomes a conditioned response. When at school a boy jumped on my back at school. I threw him over my shoulder. No one wanted to fight me at school again after wards. Another time I was set upon by a gang of three men for talking to their girl friend taking blow after blow to the face I felt nothing so they eventually went away. Another thing I have done is put my hand into a pan of boiling water and felt nothing like I lived in the Mean Streets of New York. All these are examples of esoteric wisdom and if you think they were good examples Chris has even better examples in this astonishing series of DVD's of the TV show' shown most nights on BBC3.
As our culture is exoteric we miss out on all this wonderful wisdom demonstrated here by the Masters of the Arts themselves. As Chris speaks Chinese it is not the usual narration but one that shows just how everyday the power of Chi is. Chris even gets nuns to break planks of wood after only a little training in the power of esoteric thought in one episode.
The Show~~
Its appearance is on BBC 3, a digital service on free view. Now you can watch this series on a DVD comprising of 12 episodes.
The series looks into martial arts secrets, styles, masters and for self-defence. Chris Crudelli is the man whom has studied martial arts for over 30 years and runs his own martial art school in Birmingham. He is also a master of esoteric energy which involves the movement of chi (the body's internal force and energy flow). He lived in China for many years and demonstrates knowledge as formidable as it is convincing.
Chris goes to China, Japan, Korea and the Philippines, amongst other countries, to discover martial arts practices and cultures. He meets masters of stick fighting, Knife fighting, Karate, Samurai, he even analyses philosophy behind the movements and their mindsets.
Chi can also be used to avoid harm from Swords, spears even broken glass. The energy is channelled into certain parts of the body even a spear cannot pierce flesh if conditioned bodies, have reached a superhuman state.
Protection and self defence techniques are also a part of the program. Chris goes around England to show simple techniques, to defend your self with without a lot of fighting/martial arts experience. Defence against throat grabs, car jacking, knifes, and baseball bats. Chris goes on to help teachers, estate agents, hairdressers protection against attack molestation and robberies.
Conclusion~~
The series of 12 episodes I have found to be very enlightening to me. Learning what was unknown to me about these other cultures is very interesting even if it is all alien to me. It gave me knowledge on how to defend myself in case I am attacked at any time. The show also shows how accomplished healers could help us if we try alternative medicine. The use of traditional medicines to cure any injury is fascinating and in total opposition to our own Western medical practices. So in order to learn to defend your self, explore new cultures and learn about martial arts, this is the best programme I have seen on the subject. The techniques really work well it is a good education as well as entertaining delve into martial arts. Martial arts are not only about fighting but life about promotion of a fit body and a sound mind
