I was first amazed when I saw windows vista on a computer exhibit since it looks so "fluid" just like Mac OS. But soon, after running to some problems and crashes, I discovered that still has many flaws.
What I don't like about it is the irritating pop-up window when you're trying to open a program. It keeps on popping like a virus. If I have a hammer I would smash it.
I guess they made some revisions with windows 7.. let's see if it improve.

I'd used Windows XP for many years and absolutely loved it (5 stars). I bought a new low-end laptop 4 months ago with Vista pre-installed, and my experience has been much worse.
What I like about it, is it still has all the function of XP - it's still a sophisticated OS. It was also very easy to get the wireless access working (easier than XP).
Its weakness is the performance. On my laptop, Vista consumed most of the memory just to run, which meant it ran very slowly indeed. XP would have run ...- Read AEC's review (151 words)

I marked a score of 5 for value for money because it came with my laptop.
Vista has a generally bad reputation. I'm not a total software/OS whiz, but I can tell you that Vista is great once you get used to it, and the fact that it asks you before it does ANYTHING with the exception of shutting down. Hit that button by accident, and it's gone.
It's prettier than XP, and I like Vista better now. I still use both because we have XP at school and Vista on both my laptop and the main PC, downtairs.

I got Microsoft Windows Vista as part of an OEM Laptop, good spec but they put vista basic. Firefox kept grinding to a halt and apparently firefox and vista dont get on, at least not until 3.5 came out. Vista trys to hard and ends up being frustrating. It pops to many alerts and stops processing when it shouldn't and it is very memory hungry. I blasted the hard drive and bought XP. It has many years being developed and patched and now its the comeplete OS system (unlex your a unix/linux dude) Sh ...- Read phaserfang's review (118 words)

Vista is the next best thing happened to the mankind since the landing on the moon. I had problems when I installed it soon after the release, but M/S bent backward to give me technical advice. I have two XPs but never use them because they are outdated.
I have four Vistas, in the house, one laptop & three home brew, one 64 bit & three 32 bit.
I will not change them for anything in this world & I mean that.

Much more intuitive than windows xp
Much more attractive than windows xp (the translucent appearance of windows is very cool)
A lot more sophistication in look and feel than xp
Lastly but most importantly - very very stable, it has not crashed even once in the 4 months that I have used it.- Read pramodpaluri's review (55 words)

I have had Windows Vista home premium for about a year now, I think it was a little confusing to start with but that's because it is a whole new thing. Some software doesn't work on windows vista but in time all the new software will be compatible with it. I thought you couldn't have XP games on vista but found out you can, by right clicking the shortcut, properties, compatibility tab and tick run as windows XP (service pack 2). It looks the bee's knees with the transparent effect and switch bet ...- Read markiepoos's review (242 words)

A great update to XP, which looks old and boring. This is what convinced me to jump from macs to PCs, and is what has kept windows in the game for me. For those of you with security issues, try to buy anti-spyware software, it might help. Very fast performance on a good system and certainly worth the money!- Read Whittaker420's review (69 words)

Upgraded from xp as I had severe problems and could not get fixed, sorry I ever bought Vista now as it seems I can't use any xp programmes with it was very expensive for me, my advice is to anyone thinking of upgrading if I can stick with the xp version. I will personally have to fork out at least two to three hundred more pounds it seems if not more for new material and also a new printer as this thing refuses to accept it in my experience.- Read ronbever's review (107 words)

I never thought I would write a review of Windows Vista, but....
I've been putting off an 'upgrade' to Vista for quite a while. In fact, Vista Home Premium only lasted a week before XP went back on. Each manufacturer has to provide its own drivers, so is that Microsoft's' fault?
I've just upgraded my cpu to a intel Q6600, with 8 Gb mem and 2 Tb of storage. Do you remember when a 4Gb hard drive was huge?
Point is, I think I was a little harsh on Vista. With a decent setup it really is quite good ...- Read Rick Terminal's review (186 words)

This is very good to xp... yes xp works with anything we know.. but vista will mature.. and when a windows gets old its time to change it... yes some people don't like it and have problems.. but not all pc's are the same... you have to take it account the age off you pc and the age off you software that runs in it.. but thumps up for the hard work in it.. xp had problems when that first come out...- Read Guest's review (142 words)

Listing all its inadequacies would be as tedious as using it.
If you are currently using XP and you have it set-up the way you like, don't change to Vista. There is no option to have any XP look or feel, with extra bells and whistles, as you might expect.- Read samtulis's review (65 words)

Vista should never have been released in the state that it is in. Manufacturers should have the courage to say no to Vista and insist on XP installations. MS should be ashamed of itself for releasing a beta as a finished product.- Read jparker3119's review (84 words)

I would buy any new versions of Microsoft Windows Vista as well even recommend this to a friend as it is really nice and really easy to use. I like the easy user interface on the OS and overall just think its brilliant. I like windows vista for such reasons:
- The look of the OS, such has the theme design as well as the designs of the icons which are really nice
- The flip 3d is really cool and presented nicely
- How easy it is to install onto the computer so much easier and faster then windo ...- Read moderndayworld's review (213 words and 1 comment)

Windows XP, released 2000/1, was a huge hit. It has been Microsoft's biggest hit of an OS. Microsoft had even bigger hopes for Windows Vista, stating that the "Wow" of the technological world would begin with this new installment of Windows...but Microsoft has been passionately wrong.
In the view of many, Windows Vista was a big mistake. I think that is has been released too early, actually needing far more development to make it worth while.
I won't state all of the obvious good and bad f ...- Read kiyawhite's review (451 words and 2 comments)

If anyone is thinking of getting a new computer with the new software (Windows Vista) then think before you buy as Vista is harder to use and it will not let you install Nero 5,6,7 and any other software it will let you install Nero Ultra Edition but this is not out yet to buy as I look for it on the net but I did download the demo and it is working but I have not burned any thing off it yet. So try and stay with XP as this will let you install any software that you will need to use not like Vis ...- Read lawis's review (139 words)
