    Good Points: The Autodesk 3ds Max 8.0 is the most powerful and versatile 3d modeling system in the world. It is the program of choice for online developers in any virtual world environment.


    Bad Points: They do not appear to properly label their academic versions or inform you at any point until actually installed and registered. They can't always unregister software, but in the same breath say it should be bought from an "authorized reseller." The learning curve is extremely steep. Customer service is sketchy at best. Price is compatible with corporations only.


    General comments: I don;t recommend anyone register or activate this Autodesk 3ds Max 8.0 software until after you run it for the first time. It is not until that point that you will be told if it is an academic version or not. If you have registered it before getting that information you are stuck with it. Autodesk will not help that issue period. Aside from that the academic version is time limited to one year and not legal to create online content with under their Terms and Conditions of service. I can't in all honesty rate them higher due to these limitations.
