Good Points: Speed camera data via gps.Small.Good battery life.

Bad Points: Unable to get new mapping data, no one, not even RA supply it!

General comments: Contrary to other posts, my RA Navigator 7000 updates using Vista without a problem, Use windows mobile device center 6.1! Download free from Microsoft.I use my RA often and it is fine, biggest shame is that you cannot get up to date mapping even from RA. POIs are pre-loaded and you cannot add from POI data sites i.e. Travelodge and so forth. I looks like Tom Tom's domination will wipe out the opposition much like Apples ipod has done with mp3!

Road Angel are surely going to stop producing GPS navigation systems due to them not being able to compete. Dealers have even allegedly claimed that they can't do anything about the issues I had and refused a refund. So no more development on the Navigator 9000 and the mapping/routing company they dealt with has gone out of business. My advice is go buy a Tom Tom.

Just been informed I can no longer download as we have change computers and Road Angel is not compatible with Windows Vista.
No one told us and they are still stopping the direct debit money
Been told I can buy a new one which will work with vista, will never buy one again.

This is my third Road Angel I have upgraded each time a new model has come out and therefore get a small discount known as a loyalty bonus
My cradle broke some weeks ago I phoned the help line and had a replacement within 4 days who can give better after sales service than that.
I have found this company to be top class evertime I have phoned them for help.
Have no fears regarding this companies Sat Navs.

The staff on the Road Angel helpline are very helpful, but they cannot overcome the basic problem that the machine cannot be updated with Vista equipped PCs, and the item is therefore totally useless. You cannot subscribe using Vista, and if you don't subscribe it stops working.

If you do not have access to a computer running an older version of Windows then pay extra and get a more up to date model.
Blackspot (Road Angel) have tried and failed to get a patch to make the Navigator compatible with Vista and have said they have no further plans to rectify the situation.

I paid £499.99 for my Road Angel 9000 Navigator. When it arrived it appeared to be a 2nd user unit, it was scratched and had a broken windscreen mount. The mount was replaced with another cracked one! I paid an annual subscription up front, but the "live" updates are poor at best. It has now been back for repair due to a power and subscription issue, they pretty much confirmed my view regarding its original state. When I sent it off for repair, the components were individually wrapped and ...

Like the other reviewer, I bought my Road Angel navigator less than 2 years ago. It started freezing all the time & I sent it back for repairs only to be told it was uneconomic to repair but I could pay a "special price" for an upgrade. Has anyone, I wonder, had their unit repaired once it has passed the year's warranty mark?

Contacted Road Angel, awaiting updated version of the map to be sent to me on a Secure Digital card. Hopefully new map works a little better.

I bought my Road Angel Navigator 18 months ago for £499.00. Just before Xmas I tried to locate the Sat Nav on the window mount and something broke inside. I sent the unit back for repair to be told it was uneconomical to repair and that they could supply me with a new one for £300+. 18 months use at £499.00 for an obviously poorly designed Sat Nav is totally unacceptable. I will never buy any Road Angel item again. What a complete waste of money.

I got a sorted, working unit despite RA & their un-helpful desk. Reliability does appear to be an issue looking at other car forums, which is a shame as the concept is good. In one of my many conversations with RA they reminded me it was a "budget unit"... which as other systems have come down in price is no longer an excuse.
In summary, make sure your unit "mechanically works", give the software time to work between functions... zzz... & v2 sd card upgrade is a must!!!
    & yes... after all my m ...

Abysmal. I changed from my TomTom3 to the Blackspot Road Angel Navigator 6000 with the hope that I'd be getting a better system. Oh boy, was I sadly mistaken! The unit and build seem sound enough and setup was easy, taking only minutes to get "hot". I then thought that, knowing my way home 100% already, I'd give it a test - big mistake.

Spend your money and buy one or don't, either way I will give you one bit of advice....do not buy this, I'm cursing the day I did.

When my Blackspot Road Angel Navigator works, it works. Best pickup is if you don't move your vehicle until signal is picked up. It's very good for safety cameras and I like the cradle mount.

The customer service is excellent, very very helpful. My unit has been changed twice. The company gives first rate service, I just wish their product did as well.

In the few weeks I've been using Blackspot Road Angel Navigator, I've come across a lot a errors in the maps, many leading to being sent in the wrong direction. Biggest problem seems to be roundabouts. This unit seems to think many of them are just junctions, and then gives you totally wrong directions. Also had the map on the unit have the blue line you follow go in 2 directions at once when it got confused. Nightmare.

Im in the process of taking mine back to Halfords, but I need to have ...
