“A blank canvas”

Written on: 18/07/2012

I've got a 2009 Denim Black Street Bob, it's a cool bike right out of the box. It's a ride to be seen on, and gets loads of attention, ask any girl, they are dying to jump on the back. Of course that means you have to buy the dual seat, and thats where it all begins. The Street Bob is well priced for 'big iron' but what you get is fairly basic. A stripped down Fat Bob which is already a stripped down Dyna. So you will need to budget for some extras to make it the bike it should have been.... (read more)

“excellent motorcycle but expensive”

Written on: 04/12/2011 by kfshman (1 review written)

smooth, comfortable, strong engine and nice to ride easy to control and easier than my last 883 HD Iron. The price is high for what you get if it was cheaper i think it will dominate its class with other brands. i didn't like the fact that i paid that much for a basic HD accessories. i don't regret buying this bike also.. I'm happy i did. spoked wheels means tubes in the tires which is more dangerous because of sudden loss of air why can't Harley follow the BMW way of spoked sealed... (read more)

After having quite a nice bunch of bikes during the last 38 years, in 2009 I bought my first HD (Sportster 883), but the Harley I really wished to have was the Dyna Super Glide Custom - very rare or inexistant in Portugal where I live. Last year I found a low mileage 2008 Street Bob, traded the Sportster and converted it - Super Glide handlebar, rear footpegs, dual seat + sissy bar... I love that engine (smooth and powerful enough). So far I have no complaints about build quality - only... (read more)

Written on: 25/06/2010

I agree with owner's comments regarding build quality on my Street Bob; garaged over the first winter (albeit a damp garage) the motorcylce suffered corrosion on the majority of the chrome parts, particularly the wheel rims and pitting of the forks (as stated by other owners)! Consequently the fork seal has to be replaced after only 800 miles. I have yet to confront my dealer but I would imagine the resoponse would be that my warranty has run out and I will have to pay for the repair!

I fell in love with the Harley black denim 2010 Street Bob the moment I saw it. I sat on it in the store and it just fit my 5' 11" and 175 lb frame. It brought me back into riding after 30 years. That path ran through a four day safety course required for the M class license in Texas, so it was no spur of the moment thing. The bike is quick, nimble for a cruiser, and plenty fast, though warm at a stop. Unfortunate that Harley made a corporate decision not to make a separate set of bikes... (read more)

Written on: 29/01/2010

Let me start by saying I love my Street Bob but have been dissappointed by the build quality for the following reasons. After 5000 ( mainly dry) miles the forks were pitted. After 7000 miles I noticed the paint on the swingarm was bubbling and the plastic window where the idiot lights reside was cracking and the bezels that hold the indicators were corroding. Also the rear fender was corroding and paint was lifting. All the above was replaced under warranty with no arguments by my dealer. ... (read more)

HD blew it in 2009 by bead blasting the lower cases. Why mess with a winner? The Dyna Street Bobo bike rides great, has enough go to stay with a bagger CVO, and the gas milage is around 48 m/gallon. I put on the heavy breather and after market shorty pipes, dyno'd and have been very pleased with the performance. I would like to see HD issue a blackened set of rims as an option over the spoke rims for looks and ease of maintenance. I would like to have bought the windshield/packer bar as a... (read more)

Written on: 21/07/2009

My 08 FXDB Harley Davidson was a good ride right off the showroom floor. But like most HD owners you will probably want to customize it. Adding forward controls gives a better riding position (Highly recommended). I found the stock 96 cubic inch engine and pipes to lack sound. I added Rush performance slip ons with the screaming eagle racing super tuner. This wasn't cheap, but it made this bike one loud beast with performance to back it up. Easiest bike to clean I ever owned. (read more)

Purchased my Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob - FXDB after owning a Honda Shadow for 3 years. AT 5'-6" tall I was worried about not being comfortable on this bike however, installing Progressive shocks gave me the additional one inch that I needed. I also added V&H black shorties, a stage one pack and I had some of the chrome powder coated black. This is an awesome bike! It's a lot of fun to ride and for me, the mid controls are perfect! I suggest adding an after market oil cooler since the... (read more)

Clean form and function. Dependable and easy to maintain. Great price on the 09 models. I don't care too much for the silver powder coated casing. Stock pipes just don't do it. I found mid controls leave for a cramped ride. After installing new pipes, forward controls, stage one, the Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob scooter is too much fun to even come in for dinner. The Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob - FXDB is a great bike and I would buy it again if I had to do it over. Fun ride with plenty of power and handles great! Turns lots of heads especially with the black vance and heins shorty exhaust I added. IMO, black pipes and mods look much better on this bike then chrome does. ..... I didn't buy the HD alarm but I did buy the extended warranty. Otherwise, everything was stock when I purchased the bike. (read more)

Not had a motorcycle for many years so in April 07 I bought a Harley 883L Sportster and loved it, but kept looking at the Street Bobs, so May 08 I changed the Sportster for the Street Bob, wow what a difference. Sat on a 883L in the motorcycle show last Nov and after riding the Street Bob for could never go back. Not done much to it except Motherwell Solo Rack, and changed the tank badges, looks a lot better. (read more)

I picked this Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob - FXDB up a couple of weeks ago and right off the shop floor I have to say it was really easy to ride. I needed to adjust the bars and controls a bit which took a couple of goes to get it just right but once this was done the bike has been nothing but superb. This is my first cruiser and it has been a pleasant change to get to my destination without the need to "fang" around every corner. I haven't done much city type riding on it (but then... Got my 2009 Street Bob after trading my 1250 Vrod last Saturday. The latest in a long line of bikes and a longish line of Harley's I've owned. I love it. Still wonder if I've lost it by paying more money for mat black paint, I'll wait and see how it weathers and wears. The tank badges are crap and lack style, will wait and retro paint the tank. It is a smile a mile bike and the engine seems much smoother than the 96 Wide Glide I had and the gearing is near perfect. I change my bike every... (read more)

Best Bike I Ever Owned. I love this bike. I sold my 2004 Electra glide Police to buy this and I have absolutely zero regrets. This is so much more fun to ride. I was pleasantly surprised that highway miles on this bike are not that much less comfortable than my Electra glide. The big difference is the "ride-ability". It is perfectly weighted and I love the way you practically sit in the bike rather than on it. The 96 engine is a screamer and I added V&H short slash pipes and a stage 1.... (read more)

Sold my 2005 Sportster to buy this bike. No regrets, even through 100lbs heavier it is much nimbler than the Sporty was. The fuel injection makes a big difference on starts. At first I was a little biased against the Denim. But it easier to keep clean and grows on you. Black powder easier to care for than the chrome. I added a Detachable Harley windshield, and a Sundowner seat. looking for a good set of Engine Bars. The nine inch mini-apes are just the right size. (read more)

I was beguiled by the bigger engine and the styling and following a "love at first ride" test drive part exchanged my Sportster for an FXDB in April 2007, notwithstanding pretty disappointing trade in price and almost "take it or leave it" stance from dealers who seemed to feel they did not have to try too hard. It is a really beautiful looking bike and with a big grunt of an engine, but really easy to ride even dodging in and out of commuters. Low seat height is wonderful for a short arse... (read more)

My Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob - FXDB is an excellent bike. I am not disappointed at all about this bike. Really it's a great bike at a fantastic price. Riding position would be great someone 5'7-5'10. If your taller then that you will feel a little tight. Fixed forward controls and rolling the handle bars forward a bit more. The Dyna Street Bob gives great power from the 96 inch motor and has a very comfortable ride. I removed the tank badges, and with the flat paint job people ask what year it is, thinking it is a restored bobber. The blacked out scheme looks great, and prevents chrome envy, which can be hard on the pocketbook. Great bike for the money, and will serve as a good base to build up as your own, since most accessories are flat black. (read more)

I had my Street Bob now for nearly two years, with no hassles or mechanical issues at all. Have ridden 11,500 miles on it, including a trip across the country from Oregon to New York, then from New York down to Dallas. It's been 100% reliable. It's comfortable, looks good, and has plenty of power. My first Harley and I am really pleased with it. Changed the exhaust to the SE, got a detachable windshield, and put a small rack on the back. I have already put over 5,000 miles on my Dyna Street Bob and it's done perfect. I replaced the mini apes with 16" hangers and chromite cables. Love the new bars. The "from the factory" price is great value in my opinion, but of course you gotta make it your own and give it the touches to make it stand out. Could have bought a Fatboy after all the work I've had done to it, but I'm glad I have my Street Bob! (read more)

About the fuel light. If you turn the key on while the bike is still on the stand, the low fuel light will come on, and stay on, early. If you upright the bike before turning the key to the on position, it's not a problem. This may be why your getting what appears to be an erratic low fuel light.

I found this review helpful because. I just bought a 2008 Street Bob and I've got exactly the same feelings about the placement of the controls. Thought I'd put some highway pegs up front, but might just get the extended controls instead.
