Thank you, MyCarCheck…… I’m £ 12,500 plus out of pocket… the insurance they offer does pay out for cloned cars that are stolen (I’m not sure why anyone would clone a vehicle otherwise and try to sell it).. You give them 4 stars and then coming to conclusion everybody else is here above!! As other very customer sensitive type of businesses (ie. banks, finanance, insurance ) companies are quite strictly observed by watchdogs so it SHOULD start to this company letting you believe easily that you are covered and bla bla bla. Ive lost 9K beacuase of their LOOPHOLES - IMO read misleading innocent people. They should be prosecuted same as people who we pay money for stolen cars leaving us sometimes only with half-life debts.

I work for a salvage dealer, we sell damaged vehicles and stolen recovered vehicles. The amount of calls we get complaining that our vehicles are not clear is highly annoying as the national database HPI is the only legitimate service you should be using. MCC have the wrong info on a lot of vehicles, if you are desperate to be sure, you should use HPI as this is linked to the DVLA! (read more)
Written on: 13/10/2010
There are some inaccuracies in your review:

1) HPI has a licence to receive DVLA data as do Experian (Autocheck.co.uk), CDL (mycarcheck.com) and a couple of others. All of these providers will receive the same information. HPI is no more linked to DVLA than the others.

2) HPI might have been providing data checks for longer than the others but that doesn't make them the 'national database'. They are a private company and provide services in the same way as Experian and CDL.

3) The stolen recovered marker is available to all data check providers, however HPI and Experian choose not to display it. It is a legitimate marker placed on a vehicle by an insurance company and we feel that this should be passed on to our customers. It is then up to the customer to decide whether this influences their purchasing decision.

4) You did not state whether the 'wrong' information you refer to is only the stolen recovered markers. If so, given that it is a legitimate marker this cannot be considered 'wrong'. If not please contact us and we can investigate anything you believe to be incorrect.

Many customers that write negative reviews about MCC are doing so because we have not provided a refund after they have carried out a vehicle check. Mostly all of the refunds requested are for information we do not have & do not advertise on the site. There's an ancient Arabic proverb, \"arrogance replaces wisdom\". As a business manager, you should place some serious consideration on customer retention. If I ran this company I would return you to the customer service desk to remind you that without customers, you would have no job.
Not refunding people for their own errors or failures is fair enough, but telling them they are idiots is not.
You are the 'Manager of Business', with comments like that, all you will achieve for your company is to manage to lose business.
There are other companies out there who will be very pleased with your efforts to provide them more custom.

Once I'd deciphered the review, I was annoyed by the "get a life" comment. By definition, this reviewer seems to believe his opinion is more worthy than all the other contributors. Frankly the sum of money is immaterial whereas the accuracy is all important. I'd also be suspicious the car was clocked 150000 miles. Even the most dubious motor trader would be wary about clocking that amount! Makes you wonder who the reviewer's employers are.......

Yes, I would confirm other comments - you do NOT get a finance search for your £3.95. Which is a shame, as that is the only reason I used them.. other information was returned quickly though.
It's a shame they aren't clearer on the finance search, as it does leave you feeling a bit short-changed. I really hope it isn't a deliberate ploy to boost revenue and to drive traffic to their 0844 support number. But I have my doubts.

Just because a vehicle has been written off at some stage does not mean it is a death trap, a vehicle could be written off simply because it needs some panels respraying, it all depends on the price of the repair.
