On the www.mycarcheck.com website they clearly state the following:
"For only £3.95 we help you to avoid the loss associated with buying a vehicle that may be:
    Subject to Outstanding Finance"
They give the impression that for the transaction fee you will be supplied with details of outstanding finance on a vehicle. This statement is actually totally misleading, be careful as you are being decieved. They do not supply this information. But by the time you have made your order in good faith you will realise this is a scam.
Included as part of the same list are details that they do supply, but not the HPI. So it really is a blatant form of deception.
I wonder if Quentin Willson and Auto Express know they are part of this pretence?

Recently purchased a 2006 registered car and used the £8.95 service which supposedly included a mileage check. Report which came back was absolutely useless. The mileage reported back was from Decemeber of 2006!! (approx 10K miles). The mileage of the vehicle (current) is 95K miles. What use is this?
I wanted to ensure that the current mileage reading is true and that the report would show the readings supplied by the vehicle's first MOT in January of this year (2009). The report also show ...

Do not use!! Paid £9.95 to ensure mileage was included in 'report' and it wasn't available! Go to gov site www.motinfo.gov.uk for free. I'm going to complain to advertising standards authority too.

Don't waste your money - use the RAC instead!!

My Car Check claim to check for outstanding finance is useless - they only give a guarantee if you get the seller to sign an undertaking - which is worthless!

Despite advertising HPI reports My car check dont even check for outstanding finance. Their site is misleading, they are breaking the rules for Google pay per click too. The finance protection form they provide is totally useless.

As mentioned I paid £9.95 but came up with a problem on the registration plate so I phoned the 'My Car Check' number & again was charged £5 with no warning of this on the site & without authorising another credit card transaction. Be warned!

What on the face of it seems like a good value alternative to the well known names turns out to be untrue. I feel I have been tricked out of my money bye my car check. I applied on line for the £3.95 cover but found I was charged £8.95. When I phoned the premium support line to query it they said I hadn't unchecked the "check milage box" which is an additional £5. I am very careful when filling online forms to check or uncheck the data protection boxes so I am surprised to find ...

£3.95 at My Car Check appeared a good price, but in reality gives little information. The check will advise if anything is untoward and then you have a premium rate number to call to find out the info you have just paid to get in the first place. Then you get stung with additional charges on top of that.
I'd never use this service again. Use RAC instead. At £9.99 with no hidden extras.

I have worked in the motortrade for many years and considering that most car check companies get there info from the same place then i would much rather spend £3.95 with mycarcheck than give £20 to hpi just because they are the brand name. There's no finance check but they do have a finance guarentee instead.

Fast and easy to use> The woman I got on the phone was more than helpful will use again. Fantastic customer service. Excellent value for money.
£3.95 Find out if the car has been stolen written off good value for money.

The only good thing about My Car Check is that they answered the phone quickly when I called to complain.

Expect to be billed for more than they say. The cold predictability of being overcharged grows weary.
