This Co started charging 124.60 Euro for a full tank of fuel in a small car PLUS 60 euro for breakdown cover if you don't take their 20E per day extra insurance(even though I have an annual excess policy which only cosy £36 form a UK provider!!!!!!). So when this overcharging was imposed last Dec I bought my own car in Spain. I unsubscribed from their web site but find I am still receiving unwanted mail from them. This site is easy in that you put in all details of the booking you want to make and they come up with around 7 different quotes from 7 different companies starting with the cheapest. This saves you a lot of time as this part is all done for you. You do need to be careful, though, that each different company may have different terms and conditions and you need to search yourself for hidden costs of the individual companies. I regularly use this site to rent cars from Geneva Airport. I always select an inclusive rate, no extras and a small car. The rental itself worked well, car supplied was good, pickup and drop off quick and easy. The agent offered a car check at drop off which was particularly good as it prevents difficulties later if any differences of opinion on return state of car. Hello,
We are very sorry you encountered problems while making your booking. If I could just take a minute to explain how our site works this may help explain to you how this happened.
We offer the Questor product in two places on the booking process. First of all, on the booking form itself where you have to tick the box to agree to the insurance terms and conditions or un-tick another box to say no to insurance to be able to carry on with the booking. The booking will not go through unless you do one of these two things.
Then once a customer clicks "book now", we present you with another overlay page, which double checks that you did not want insurance, the reason for this is that this is a very important part of car hire and we want to be sure people are aware what they have said no to.
Again this is not preselected, the customer has to tick a box to select this product and agree to the T&Cs of the insurance. Or they click the large box which says "continue without Insurance" if they do not want this product.
At no point at all do we try to sell this product without a customers knowledge. It is not in our interest or that of Questor's to cause distress or take money without customers knowing exactly what they are paying for.
Please rest assured our aim is to provide good value car hire and good customer service. We are disappointed that this experience did not turn out as you expected.

my partner rang this company to hire a car and the nearest place to pick up was an hour away, after being on the phone and them telling us we need to pay a deposit of 250 pounds which was fine but my partner does not have a debit/credit card after saying this on the phone they said that the cash card would be fine so off we went. we got a lift to the airport which is where we was picking it up after getting there they tell us that the card was not acceptable and we couldn't pay the deposit... I have booked via 121carhire and carrentals.co.uk before and have found cartrawler to be nothing but helpful. Their terms and conditions are very clear meaning that even if the car hire company tries to argue (as Thrifty often do) it is all there in black and white. I recently booked a car and paid money for it to be picked at Paddington. No one called me to say I could only pick it at Heathrow Airport. When I called the booking office I was put on hold for long time. No apology was offered. Instead staff were insisting on me cancelling the booking. I couldn't as I was going to a wedding. For example, it should not say 'some local suppliers may differ'. That is not good enough and does NOT satisfy the claims of 'what you see is what you pay'. As you know, Carrentals is the UK's leading car rental price comparison site comparing car hire prices from over 50 suppliers. As a comparison site, we offer customers the ability to search for their car rental needs in one place and then allow them to book directly with the supplier of their choice.
Our customers ultimately book directly with their chosen supplier and the contract is between the customer and direct supplier, not Carrentals.
However, we take customer satisfaction very seriously and should the service from any of the suppliers we work with fall short of customer expectation, we would like to know so that we are able to inform the suppliers in the hope that future customers do not experience such issues.
We are sorry to hear you were not happy with your rental experience but would like to point out that all information relating to the fuel policy and other charges payable locally can be found within the terms and conditions provided by the supplier during the booking process, which customers are required to have read and understood before any booking can be completed.
We are not sure why a local supplier would insist on a customer paying for breakdown cover, however we do know that if a customer is unable to pay the security deposit required on collection, you would be required to pay for the local supplier's own insurance policy. It is clearly stated that a credit card deposit is required within both the terms and conditions as well as on the rental voucher. If you have your own excess insurance policy, this will cover you as the renter and not the suppliers car so they will still require you to pay the deposit.
We are also sorry that your attempts to unsubscribe to our emails have been unsuccesful. We do provide an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter. However, if you have not been able to find this or it has been ineffective for any reason, please contact us again using the contact us form on our website, requesting to be usubscribed and we will action this for you.
If however the emails you are getting are from the supplier you booked with through our site, then you will need to contact them directly requesting to be unsubscribed.
