A complete rip off. Great website but after waiting for over an hour in the queue at Malaga airport they charged over the odds for a non-negotiable tank of fuel at double the forecourt price, plus CDW at 35E. Online booking confirmation stated £112.00 for 7 days inclusive hire but they took £131.00 out of my account. Next time I'd pay the extra upfront and go with a reputable company such as Avis or Hertz.

Booked car on line at Amigo Autos, seemed ok included fully comp insurance . When i arrived to collect car from goldcar had to queue for an hour and then was told that insurance was only third party. After numerous e mails on return given no response to questions asked only to say i had taken out relax insurance to cover tyres.
Only gave 1 star because could not give zero !!

Booked my car on the net for amigo autos...all inclusive..Great...knew there would be a charge for fuel...no problem. Got to Alicante, qeud for 40 minutes, got to the desk, was told that it would also be 35 Euros for CDW ?????? Even though it was already included on my paperwork, I was told that Amigo were wrong to have put CDW included on the paperwork and was shown paragraph 16 of the Goldcar agreement ????? still confused and a little annoyed, I got my credit card back and hired one from anot ...

I wont go into all the details but have had a similar problem to several of you with regards being enticed by cheap costs on the website and then being forced into signing the contract which also included additional insurance although the agreement I had said my price included full insurance.
Yes I signed the form which says I agreed to the terms and conditions as i'd been waiting for an hour and also had around 20 persons behind me who would not have been happy if I started going through all th ...

I wrote a review in April 09 at amigo autos. Since this time I have been sending regular emails to Amigo auros re my complaint. This was one of the replies 3 months on:

we have directly spoken to the representative that talked to you when picking up the car, and she told us that she never said anything about explosions on the engine, but only commmented you on damages to tyres, wheels, etc, that are never covered by CDW. Regarding the '10 chatge, they do ...

We have just returned from a holiday in Gran Canaria, we booked online a car through Amigo Autos because the price was competitive and included insurance and CDW cover, however on arriving in Las Palmas GC the we find the hire sub contacted to Goldcar rental, when we found the office, it was closed and no notification of a return time and no reply from the contact telephone number we waited nearly an hour before the clerk returned, we then discovered that the FULLY COMPREHENSIVE insurance and CD ...

My wife and I hired a car from Goldcar for 3 days from Malaga airport.

On day 2 the car broke down and I called their helpline. This was a recorded message and asked me to leave my number and they would return my call. I received no call that evening so the next morning I called them and managed to speak to someone.
They then arranged for a truck to collect the car from Benahavis. I then spoke to the main office and they informed me that they could not get a new car over to me and that if I to ...

I booked two cars through Amigo Autos who use Goldcar Rental as their local provider at Malaga Airport. Firstly I was charged for a full tank of petrol on each car, amounting to E60 each. They then charged E30 for us having an automatic on top of what we had already paid. What started out as a good rate of E60 for a long weekend on each car, turned into E150 for the automatic and E120 for the manual.

Buyer Beware! Amigo themselves provided a reasonable service over their website but I ended up paying way more than I expected to GoldCar rental at Malaga. And I am in dispute because the Amigo website and documents state that the basic car hire charge includes VAT. Goldcar rental then slapped a second lot of VAT on the total bill which means I ended up paying VAT twice on the basic car hire. As for other reviewers, I also think the tank full of petrol price is heavily inflated (and if you're h ...

Waited in line with for an hour with 20 others at the GOLDCAR desk to be served. Then they charged for extra insurance.
I had I thought paid for full cover but I was told in no uncertain terms that if the engine of the car went "BOOM" then I had to pay all costs. I told them that this was nonsense but they were insistant. I was so fed up by now that I paid. They also overcharged me for the extra driver.
I have sent 2 emails to Amigo Autos but true to form they havent replied.

I was tricked out of £50. April '09, Malaga. booked & paid for car online priorto travel, best value i found. At airport ased for credit card (in spanish), unclear why but gave it presumingofr ID, then presented with receipt for £145Euro. 3 Child seat hire for the week cost me 63Euro (could buy booster seats at 10 euro each) and then 82Euro for fuel. Apparantly i'd signed up for them to fill the tank on my Focus (at more than twice the going rate) and had to brin it back empty. Actu ...

Hired car at Murcia airport. When I reached my destination found that the obligatory car accident kit was missing. When I managed to get
to a local Amigo Autos office the assitant shrugged his shoulders and I had to give a deposit of 30 eu for the kit.Be aware that police stop cars often to check that you have this kit.
    Beware extra charges

Amigo autos is Goldcar Rental. At Malaga airport recently we queued for over 1 hour to reach the desk. We had reserved a car
for the week for 64 euros (good price - eh?). We were then asked to pay 62 euros for the full tank of petrol - about double
the cost of a full tank for a Ford Fiesta. No credit given for any petrol left in the tank!

Bad customer service at Amigo Autos. Hidden extra cost not specified in the final amount. Chosen as it was the only one offering a diesel car but later none was available so had to wait until the afternoon to have one available..... Again bad customer service....

our car got towed by police they helped find it and sort things out very helpful.

Everything considered would use Amigo Autos again always had a clean reliable motor although you have to pay for full tank of fuel no matter how long you stay and also extra costs to insure wheels.

I went through a local tour company to rent a GoldCar via Amigo in Malaga Airport in late Dec 09. Great price and it even included all necessary insurance--much better price than competitors. They also provided a more roomy car at no additional cost. Service was responsive and friendly.
I rented with some trepidation based on the reviews I read before the trip. But my experience was superb. For a total of 117 euros, everything was covered. They even said there was no need to check the car for da ...

Good points, car was clean and in good condition. Still cheaper than competitors at airport. Bad points, Horrendous customer service skills when hiring a car at Alicante airport. Did not have the car we had been allocated. With all the extra charges you are likely to pay double what is printed on the preliminary voucher. They would not take cash. Did I mention the customer service? I was also billed for extra cleaning (£30) as there was a bit of mud on the car, and not notified they were ...

I was worried about using this company after reading some of the reviews. However, no problems at all from Palma. Good price, clean car, Ford Fiesta diesel, only six months old. Will use again.

Easy to find in Alicante airport - thats about all I can say that's good. Overcharged and still waiting for a refund - 5 months later!!
Are only middlemen - cut them out and go direct to the car hire company themselves - if anything goes wrong you have no worries about who you should complain to. Price you think you are paying in my experience was doubled when I picked up the car.
