I have used various anti viruses and I find this the best free one going. I would recommend it to anybody. Very easy to install and no bad points.

Easy to install, seems to work well. Caught two items on my computer that hadn't caused a problem yet, but would have.
The price was good, and I loved that I could get up to three years of subscription coverage at a time.

If someone ask me to recommend an free antivirus product, the first on my list would be Avira AntiVir. Excellent antivirus for a beginer user or even a more experienced one. For a beginer it could be like a plug and play product, install it and forget it. It will provide you the security you need.

Not ram hungry like others. Nice user interface, not very often but sometimes stops guarding. May be due to the update? It seems to detect better than kaspersky in my experience therefore I well recommend Avira Antivirus

Seems to use very little ram. Very fast scanner. Doesn't appear to conflict with Comodo firewall. Runs very smoothly.
On the whole, its a very good package and does what it says on the can. I have had no problems with this package. Well recommend AviraAntiVirus.

I used avg on all my home computers but decided to go different with my latest so I decided to try avira couldn't be more satisfied very efficient and user friendly. Well recommend Avira AntiVir Antivirus.

Download the new version 8 from Softpedia. Its worth downloading. They have revamped the User Interface and it looks professional. I have been using Avira Antivr for a longtime. For a free software, its more than I could ask for... Well recommended.

This anti virus never lets me down it cleans my pc from other virus never detected by avg or other free anti virus softwares. React instantly if a flash drive was inserted on my usb drive infected with virus. So I think I settle for avira this time.

Good virus detection. Avira was able to detect viruses infecting my computer that AVG and PC Tools Anti-Virus did not detect. Now my computer is virus free.
In general, this is a good AV software, given that this is free.

Excellent free antivirus, better than most paid ones. Fast, has heuristic, use little RAM... Some people comment about update problem but I do not have it. Everything works like a charm! And didn't have a virus problem. Well recommend Avira AntiVir.

I've also used Norton ' s, MacAfee, nod32, Kaspersky, AVG and Avast.Till now I ' ve found something that I ' m actually happy with, and that ' s Avira Antivirus.I would recommend this product more than others, in detecting and deleting virus/Trojans/ ect.....rather than just quarantine the Trojans..

Avira AntiVir Antivirus is easy to use, heavy with CPU. It has on time updates and catches viruses quickly. The only bad point I can find with this is the splash screen in start-up.

I have used most AV's over the years most recently a paid version of Norton Anti Virus but that was so resources hungry and obtrusive it slowed things down quite noticeably even on my very modern and RAM rich computer. I tried AVG for a short while though that lacked stability it seemed to me. Avira seems so undemanding on both resources and your patience. Avira AntiVir Antivirus protects your computer from the virus and it is to my knowledge the best Antivirus, even though it is free. I have used AVAST, AVG, COMMANDOS,etc. I thank AVIRA for this gesture. The speed could be increased while scanning. I think that there should be some 'healing the file' option.

I have used many different anti virus products over the years, including AVG, Avast, Anti Vir, NOD32, Norton, Kaspersky and McAfee.I can safely say AntiVir classic is by far the best free antivirus available. It's detection rates are better than some paid antivirus' like Norton and it completely thrashes both Avast and AVG as far as detection rates go. I would recommend getting this anti virus, It finds and fixes more things then any version of Norton and it also takes up much less background memory while still scanning all the time.
