First it was a struggle to install. I had to get technical support to assist because it kept on getting hung up. Then just a few short months later, the configuration changed and now I am helpless in changing anything because the path changed. I contact Avira and they tell me I will have to pay for them to fix this problem. This is ridiculous. When do you stop paying? (read more)

I had no problems with McAfee until a friend insisted avira was the best ever and I had to put it on my laptop to make sure it didn't get viruses. Since it's been on my laptop I've had popups and now I've a serious virus and it's going to cause bucks to fix my laptop. Not happy. (read more)

i have used it for almost three years and it work's excelent , the interface isn't very pretty quite austere compared to others i have tested several antivirus products covering the free to the paid versions and every one of them has it's flaws it doesn't use a lot of resources and on obsolete pentium III systems it work 's great (read more)

I've used the free version of Avira for a couple of years until they gave me a KEY to upgrade to internet security which encompasses a Avira firewall. Their firewall can't be deactivated for good, it has to be deactivated every time you start the PC. If you don't deactivate it you will get a BLUESCREEN whenever you hibernate or even sometimes when suspending. Windows restarts from scratch and you loose all your work. After contacting Avira they seemed to reduce it but the problem is still... (read more)

I would nobody recommend this virusscanner, its TERRIBLE. My oncle and his wife where using this virusscanner and on a day they saw a password was changed (something about there bank). So i said i will check your computer and i downloaded kaspersky on it, and it saw the virus very quick and i removed it with kaspersky. People don't get this virusscanner! (read more)

Hi, my name is Stephany and I tell you I was sold thirty minutes after installing the trial Internet security. Aside from the original sound alerting to an intrusion attempt, it also warns me of third party attempts hiding under different names! My home screen starts up within seconds, something that took up to fhree minutes, if not more, prior to installing the trial. And when the trial is over, the $70 to recieve the paid version will be WELL WORTH IT; Because, quite honestly, in all the antivirus software I have dealt with, and there have been plenty, this one is a WINNER hands down. Im sold; WELL DONE, AVIRA!

Do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES download Avira "Antivirus" It is worse than any virus. I have been using AVG happily for 3 years then for some reason Windows "recommended" I get new Antivirus protection so by their recommendation I went for Avira, BIG MISTAKE, I have spent the last 4 hours trying to get rid of it my computer is now infected with viruses and I can no longer do a System Restore[Avira must disable that to let the viruses in] I now seriously think I will have to dump this... Don't quite know what is going on here. I've downloaded Avira as a trial and whilst a bit clunky ,it got rid of the tail end of a n MBR Rootkit Trojan tdss which nobody else could do! My Laptop has speeded up considerably as a result....

I believe you were duped into downloading a Trojan horse. I have been using Antivir for years now and recommend it to everyone. Aside from the once-a-day popup if you are a free user, it has performed very well. Much better than mcafee or norton.

What utter rubbish this person is saying about Avira Free Antivirus. I have been useing this software for a coupe of years now and I have welcomed it for its natural protection on my desktop computer. It has saved my O/S many times from viruses & malware, and I use it on my Laptop for the good of safety and peace of mind. Thank you Avira & all that work for you. I have been using free Avira antivirus software quite for a while and don't have anything bad to say about it. It was working alright. Just what I found strange was that sometimes from time to time when I did a system scan it sometimes find a little virus which I could easily could get rid of by using Avira. It made me wonder 'shouldn't antivirus prevent the viruses appearance in the system?'. Apart from that antivirus was satisfying considering that its a fee software.

The thing is that Avira lets you leave the virus or troyan as is on the drive. Virus stays undeleted, unblocked, fully operable, while the other programs remove it without even asking! This is a great option! Concerning some files it doesn't see... well, which one is ideal?! Avira is "silent" and much faster than any similar product! (read more)

If you want the virus left in place, simply configure the 'other programs' to do so. Not sure why you would want to intentionally leave your computer infected though.

I signed up for a free copy of Avira which at the time I was happy with. All seemed to be working well until a virus hit and knocked out the functionality of Avira completely. I therefore had to download a different anti-virus package to clear the virus and never went back. From my experience of Avira the scans are thorough but it might not be able to deal with the virus once it finds it. (read more)

It's simply the best Antivirus with the best detections rate.
It has got some false positives but the program let you choose what to do.
Just adjust the settings to medium security level and the FP will be gone.
I never had promblems with FP, Avira is tested by you tube and detected much more virusses then Kaspersky and other AV programs.
Very light on resources as well, together with PC tools firewall plus, the ultimate combo....runs like a charm.

But when you do all the downloads and scans, find something odd and run ESET's free download tool and find 2 Trojans and a Worm, its not good enough! I'm furious. It works first time every time out of the box.
It finds many threats the others miss!
Regular updates that work every time.
If you want worry free AV then go with this.

I had a few problems with the inital installation, tried to contact Avira and they asked me to call their customer support helpline. These were all in Europe ie Germany. Funny isn't it, when you see many anti virus ratings Avira is never the top, would this be because there isn't any profit in selling it... I and many other people use it so why is it left out of the comparisons charts while many people swear by it.
I use the Premium version and found no problems at all, prior to reformatted my hard drive I uninstalled it and tried three others.... they all came up clean n' green so Avira just gotta be doing something, mind you I use Firefox and never allow...

I find that Avira AntiVirus have certainly outdone a lot of the AntiViruses already exisitng in the Market. Personally I use their completely free version but what I want to say is exactly what I like about Avira.

I have been using Avira on 3 PCs (2 Premium, 1 free version) for 4 or 5 years now and with the exception of the PC that has the free version, it has caught every virus/worm/trojan that has attempted an invasion. actually is can be deactivated, go to add/remove items, or where ever you go to uninstall a program, and click avira, on the top instead of uninstall click change, go through the install steps as when you installed avira, but do the custom route, when you get to the components you want, de-select the firewall, continue as normal, and when its all done, the fire walls gone, then just turn on windows firewall.
