Good Points: Beautiful setting for hotel beside Lake Derwentwater. Room well appointed and spotlessly clean as was the bathroom.
Bad Points: The food and the restaurant staff. We were hurried through a 5 course meal in half an hour when no-one else required a table. The meal was cold and the menu limited. When I told a member of staff that I had not enjoyed my dinner when she enquired, she said 'better luck tomorrow night.' I told her that I would not be back but she was not interested. At breakfast I chose my breakfast items for a cooked breakfast. I received 5 items which I did not order and did not receive 4 which I had ordered. I got scrambled eggs insted of poached and when I told the waiter he leaned over and looked at my plate and said well its scrambled now, and walked off! The next morning I had the buffet continental breakfast which I could serve myself. So much easier!
General comments: All in all I found the restaurant and staff therein a major let down for such a beautiful hotel. Moreover I left word of this complaint on a customer comment card and nearly seven weeks later, the hotel has not acknowledged this. I do not normally make complaints but this service or lack of it certainly warranted a comment.
