I have had the 1000 model for 6 years now. It does have a bit of a strong trigger pull, but any serious shooter can get used to this. My 1000 model has about 100 rabbits and a few squirrels under its belt. The high velocity kills the rabbits instantly. (read more)

I have many an Air Rifle from the age of 7 and this is the best buy I have ever made. I have no problems with recoil, loading, closing and trigger sensitivity. You either can use it or you can't. Bushnell scope completes the entire package (read more)

Good value and well made for less than $100, but accuracy is lost by an excessively heavy trigger pull. There is absolutely no way you can pull the trigger without compensating for the movement of the stock on your target.
As retired military with Expert marksmanship I would challenge anyone who wants to purchase this air rifle, attempt to squeeze the trigger in the store (if allowed in your state) and not have the site pull off target.

This air rifle is horrible in its kickback, it has a terribly heavy pull on the trigger and accuracy is lost in all that. I think it is nothing but trash rifle made in Turkey.
Get a Gamo, or even a Crosman or Daisy. They far supercede this trash airgun, I do not recommend this Turkish trash to anyone. It is worth no more than $20 the most.

I have had several break barrel and under lever air rifles, this is very hard to cock and is even harder to close, no one will tell me what is wrong with it or how to fix it, it is just $120 thrown away! (read more)

I bought my Winchester air rifle model 1000X (calibre .177) last year. I use pellet from Diabolo Baracuda. Excellent combination. I can easily hit the centre bottom of a cocacola can at a distance of 20 metres. Easy to handle and accurate. (read more)

I've had this Winchester model 1000 gun for quite a while and am very pleased with it. Those of you who say that it has a heavy trigger pull need to grow a set take your time and the gun is very accurate once sighted in (read more)

I never had an air gun before...when i bought this one but to tell you the truth I love it...you have to sight the gun correctly. Also you need good basic skills to hit anything...hey look at Top Shot the show...they have to use all kinds of weapons to win...sometimes its really all to skill...lol good times...

The Winchester model 1000 with Winchester scope is made of steel and easy to cock. Jumps very badly when fired. No groups. Heavy. Very heavy trigger pull. Clunky safety. Can't get it to group. It is not a true air rifle. What it is, is a piston driven ram rifle. When you pull the trigger this heavy ram piston pump that you just cocked flys forward to push the pellet our the barrell at 1000 fps. It has a reverse recoil that is bad news for accuracy. I got mine cheap but I would... (read more)

I have been shooting for the past 75 years. I have a model 94 winchester 30-30 with over 100 deer to its credit. I bought this model 1000 to dispatch a few squirrels, etc. At the overwhelming distance of 40 feet I can manage a group of about 2.5 inches. Needless to say,I am not favorably impressed, as I can do as well with my slingshot. (read more)

I can not get the rifle to shoot consistently to the same spot and even had to max out the sights to get close to my target at 25 yards. I would never buy another and am now looking for a quality rifle (not based on price). (read more)

Bad gun. Broke after about 1000 shots. This was right after I was getting used to it's feel. The iron sights are accurate at about 30 yards but any after they aren't any good. I used this gun for hunting squirrels and it was powerful enough to kill them with one shot but would often just acupuncture them and go right out the other side. I thought I'd got a good deal on it though, I bought it from walmart for 100. Came out of the package looking nice, no scratches or anything. (read more)

It is hard to believe that a manufacturer would put out a gun with this excessive trigger pull and that the person I talked with seemed not to care one iota that I thought that the trigger pull was excessive, The attitude seemed to be "sorry but that's the way the Winchester was made and we can't do anything about it". Also they said I was the first complaint they had received, which I found hard to believe. (read more)

The Scope mounts are pathetic. It constantly becomes loose. This gun has way to much recoil for this type mount. I will return the gun and try another model.

I totally agree with this critique of the Win. 1000. Don't waste your money on this air rifle no matter how "economical" the cost. It is inaccurate due to the 10+ lb. trigger pull. I put a scope on it and got no better results. I put the scope on my old Crosman 2100 "Classic" (ten pump BB/pellet) rifle, got sighted in and have destroyed English sparrows left an right from 15 - 25 yards! And,the Crosman was just $50.00 without a scope.
If you're serious about getting into air rifle shooting I suggest you skip Daisy and Gamo and go with Crosman,
Benjamin, Sheridan, Beeman, RWS and the like. Stay away from the "bargain" break-barrel high velocity guns like the Winchester. Go to Pyramid Air, Air Rifle Depot, etc. and look over the selection for "serious" air rifles that won't fall apart after a couple of hundren rounds.
