for dell dimension 5150 the amber light sometimes comes up when all drivers mainly the chipset and important drivers from dell website for this desktop are NOT installed. try installing OS and then going online and installing all there updates and drivers for this desktop. you will find there is no problem with it. dont know why dell wouldnt ask you if you did this. but this caused a problem for me and was fixed myself easily. new motherboards would do the trick only untill the pre-installed drivers get corrupt again. and after this you would get the amber light. to avoid this update motherboard drivers. even if you dont install chipset drivers it can do this. i had this problem and was resolved after many attempts to fix. now no problem at all.

I've had the dell 5150 for 3yrs and 4months all of a sudden when i powered down the pc, When I went to turn it on the following down , the fatal orange blinking light, I rang dell and paid £24 for them to diagnose the problem, by removing the following RAM , Video card, Network card and unplugging the cd and hard drive, they then asked me to plug the pc back in and switch it on, still the same light, (that was there diagnostic check! ) I could have done it myself and saved £24!, s ...

Very good service from DELL in fixing my problems
Although we had two breakdowns the DELL engineers were very courteous and quick in getting it fixed.
2 major breakdowns involving new motherboards
    Well recommend Dell Dimension 5150.

I have had the Dell dimension 5150 for a couple of years now and has proved to be a reliable computer. A nice flat monitor screen and nice sound speakers. This computer was a reasonable price. However it does not perform well with computer games as mine only came with 512 mb but i guess can put more on it. Not sure if it sets the standards for quality like some other computers but for the money it was a reasonable buy.

Intially they ran as advertized. We had four Dell Dimension 5150'S. Within one week two flashed orange and would not start up. What a waste of money.

Decent computer all around for lighter gaming, word processing, and web surfingQuiet. Runs somewhat quiet, and the CPU heatsink is sibe wire is very shortMost of the plugs are already soldered in, further reducing the upgradable capabilities of this computer. Well recommend Dell Dimension 5150.

It is a very good computer for the basic user but lacks the ability to be upgraded to get more life out of it.
Runs quite but would recommend to add a fan behind cpu as it runs hot.

I would recommend this computer to anyone who uses basic applications like word, email and light gaming and video. If you want to upgrade or use it for gaming or overclocking I would reconsider.

Tech support is fair as most operators cannot diagnosis problems.

    7/10

Easy to set up, keeps running smoothly even when the memory is on high demand Can be used for many aspects of networking, I well recommend dell Dimension 5150, infact the only bad thing I have to say about this computer system is that the dust collects at front, not a "gamers PC", does get slightly sluggish on networks.

Dell Dimension 5150 is a great computer. I've used it everyday for over two years and it hasn't missed a beat. Does everything well. I've added extra hard disk drive and a fast CD burner which supports CD text and rips CDs quicker. It came with 2GB RAM and a 350GB HD which is more than enough for most.
Only downside is that it came with a lot of 'junk' installed like McAfee security suite which was a pain to uninstall and some second rate CD/DVD burning software. This is a shame as it lets down ...

I would not recommend this computer or Dell to anyone at anytime. The three year in house hassle free Warranty is anything but hassle free. Their techs are not well versed in how to effectively help you.

We have had our Dell Dimension 5150 for approximately 14 months. We bought it straight from Dell and had no problem placing our order over the phone.
Our problems only started when we attempted to switch the computer on one morning and it was as dead as a dodo. Contacting their technical help line was a nightmare. Once through, they were unable to pinpoint the problem, there was also a slight language barrier with whoever dealt with our call. The advisor thought it would probably be the motherb ...

I must point out I live in France although I am English, and my requirement was for a UK language machine but with French guarantee and support.

I was very impressed with Dell France (much more so than Dell UK) who were able to provide me with what I wanted.

Delivery was quick - all arrived in one piece
Dell have good online support and forums through their web site

I have a 3 year on site next day warranty, which is realistically the lifespan of the computer in technology terms, which ...
