I'm not sure about these reviews telling us, the Gamo Hunter Sport isn't consistent, or accurate. Maybe they need shooting lessons or something. My buddy and I went and bought ours together and only use the PBA Raptors, and the accuracy couldn't be moe consistent with both rifle. we constantly pop the cap on a 20 ounce drink bottle, from 50 yards, no problem! I love the BSA scope and also the feel of the stock. GREAT rifle!

The Gamo Hunter Sport .177 Combo 3-9x40 air rifle I have has very poor accuracy somwhere around 1.5" at ten yards I can throw a rock that well.I would not have purchased it If I had known about the accuracy problem.Hope you all have better luck with yours

I take back everything nasty I've said about this Gamo Hunter, except for the clumsy trigger and scope mount. I just got my new Beeman 2-piece scope mount and what a difference! 10/10 plastic golf ball at 35+ yards. My pellets of choice are RWS superdome. These by far the most consistant at 35 to 50 yards with 4 different rifles. Amazing how much more impact 4 tenths of a grain can deliver.

Nice looking, light, good shock absorbtion, easy to cock, quiet, good impact. Nice scope, easy finger adjustments. I expected much better consistancy in a $200 rifle. This is a better rifle than the Big Cat but there are still better rifles on the market for less money or slightly more. The screws on the factory installed scope sucked right through the top mounts. Scope mount looks impressive but is simply too short - 3-7/8" for a 5-1/2" tube. The backstop set screw on my exchange rifle shear ...

So far I'm loving this gun. I got it partially sighted in and well, I'm happy so far, with a new scope it'll be great. it shoots a flyer once in a while but at about 25 yards i could consistently hit the top of a small tiki torch in the back yard, so not bad. good enough for pests around the yard right?

I got three squirrels the first four days i went hunting[between 5yds-25yds].i sighted it in a little above 35yds with bullet holes touching horizontal.i tripped and fell and broke my wrist;the whole barrel went into the ground.I cleaned it out still shoots fine, but i haven't yet have seen if it is still accurate( will keep you updated). i have had one shot kills on birds big as quails.Best pellets i have used so far are JSB Exact and Predator Polymag Pellets

I like the stock being wood instead of plastic, i have had another pellet rifle with plastic stock and it cracked while cocking it great gun.
Very accurate 3/4 inch groupings at 50 yards, powerful, supersonic with raptors. There are no bad points.

Well I guess it's back to researching to see what I can get in place of this one, I was looking for a Gamo big cat 1200 because I researched several air/pellet rifles before I headed out to the store and read nothing but good about it but they were out of it so I settled for this Hunter. This gun is actually for my 10 year old son (To shoot under adult supervision of course). People say about certain things "It is very good for the money". But to me a pellet gun that you can't hit anything with ...

The Hunter Sport looks very good, its light, the trigger is nice it's easy to break open, but it is very inaccurate. I don't know if it's the scope or the rifle, I will remove the scope and remount it and try again. If that doesn't work I will be returning it and buying something ells and it won't be a Gamo.

    Totally disappointed Hunter.

Does not group well when my old pump daisy can drive tacks.
Pattern worsens with PBA ammo. Tried lead and is more accurate but still not great.
Would not feel confortable hunting due to poor accuracy.

I bought this gun last week and it hasn't given me any problems. I can shoot squirrels from 35 yards, accurate everytime. I love this gun!

It is a pretty good deal for the money. I use my gun almost everyday it is a cheap, convenient hobby. The hunter sport is a practical way to control unwanted pests around the farm.

This rifle would be a great candidate for a good open sight of some kind. I have found that many of these somewhat inexpensive break open rifles with good open sights are equal or superior in accuracy to the scoped versions. With the natural limitations of humane kills to approx. 25 yards with the 177 pellet, open sights are of no handicap to the shooter. When shooting paper the scopes are only of value to see the shot placement but do not seem to increase the inherent accuracy potential and can ...

The Gamo Hunter Sport .177 Combo 3-9x40 is a nice gun but bad scope as it started to lose its power after 500 shots.

As I read in another review, do not shoot this type of air rifle by resting the forestock on a steady rest as you would a normal rifle. If you wish to use a rest hold the rifle normally and rest your hand on the rest. I thought something was wrong with the weapon at first, 4" group at 35 yards! After I saw the review about not working well off a bench rest I went back and tried again shooting as I suggested above; 3/4" groups at 35 yards. Plenty good for popping local varmints.
