Good Points: Impeccable yet relaxed service Sensational degustation list with wines to match
Bad Points: Can be very hard to get a table Too many cheeses on the degustation list
General comments: The Court House Hotel is a little gem hidden away in the fast developing North Melbourne Errol Street precinct. Once a pub, now a gastronomic delight. Simple surroundings that remind you of a cross between an English country pub and a french dining hall. Service was prompt and never did the service staff make us feel rushed despite how busy they were on the night. This would be a great setting for a romantic date or quiet dinner with friends.
Now to the food, As I salivate with flashbacks to the surprisingly good menu offerings. We decided to forgo the amazing degustation menu due to the copious amounts of cheese included and picked from the main menu with a plan to share.
During starters it was clear each of our group was reluctant to share their entrees given the explosion of tastes we were experiencing. The oysters were to die for. The seared scallops beautifully presented. The winning dish most certainly had to be the oxtail and its accompanying mish mash of purees and vegetables - brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts.
Desserts left us in cardio hell, very rich, creamy and sumptuous.
This dinning hall really must be experienced. At first it seems simple, yet extraordinary mix of flavours and presentation flair certainly place this little gem in my top 10 and well above the offerings of Bistro, Donovan's, Stokehouse or Cecconi's
Enjoy!!!
