Good Points: Good size. Not too small to use (like most phones now on the market). Struggled a little to find a case to fit, but now have a nice krussell!! Linux- there are some open-source componenets of the OS, and there are alternative firmwares available so it is quite configurable, if you know what you are doing (a bit expert, though). front screen provides useful info. easy to switch profiles (use the up/down buttons on theside of the phone). Voice recogition is briliant- no training required and it works very well. Automatic flash/light on camera, including video is a very cool feature.
Bad Points: on BT version, wifi is locked so you can only connect to a BT router. New firmware apparently solves this, and it is not a problem with the Orange version (which was for France, I think). Can be difficult to find a case. Side buttons can get knocked accidentally if not locked, causing profile changes or prompts for voice commands.
General comments: The Motorola A910 is the perfect phone for me, but might not suit everybody. If you want wifi, linux/ java hackability and tangibility (i.e. it is not too fiddly to use) in a clamshell, this is a great phone. If you want more features (for quite a bit more money), have a look at the OpenMoko. I would have liked an OpenMoko, but could not justify the expense at this stage of its development, so the A910 was a bargain alternative (I paid just under £40!).
