Good Points: Courtesy of the on-line help personnel.

Bad Points: Annoying point is on-hold time (35 min) prior to connecting to a service tech. The really Bad Point: after compiling with all return requirements finding out it will take over a month to evaluate the defective camera and determine what action Polaroid will pursue. That is: replace or repair.

General comments: This is not a direct indictment of a particular product but rather an indictment of the Polaroid warranty and service procedure/policy.
1st, The defective product: A Polaroid DSC t737 Digital Camera purchased for the wife for Christmas. The photos the camera took were extremely blurred as though rapidly moved even though I had mounted it on a tripod. After sending Polaroid Service centre e-mailed photos taken by the camera they confirmed the camera was defective and issued an RMA along with a lengthy "how to return" e-mail document.
Next I packaged and returned the camera on 14Dec and included all receipts, RMA numbers etc.
Being relatively patient I waited to receive some type of communication confirming receipt by Polaroid. When 3Jan arrived without any communication I called the Polaroid Warranty Center and was (politely) told they indeed had received the camera on 15Dec but would not be able to evaluate the camera for at least the next 2 to 3 weeks because of a backlog of work.
People - what is there to evaluate(?) - the camera was defective and agreed to be defective by your own staff. Replace it! If there is a root cause analysis to be done to improve reliability great, but not at the customers' expense. The other thought that crossed my mind was how big a back log? Are Polaroid products massively defective to swamp a repair organization or is the problem they have to ship all products back to the true manufacturers in China? Regardless - this will be the last time I buy any Polaroid product and I clearly discourage anyone from dealing with this company if there is any potential issue with a warranty.
