    Good Points: Styling, chrome, sound.

Bad Points: Reliability, not the most comfortable bike for long distance.

General comments: Owned a 1200 sportster for 3 yrs and 19,000 miles. Had to replace the head gasket's twice and the clutch basket retaining nut came off during a 5 hr ride. Nice looking bike handled well but a little weak on reliability for my preference.

I'm a newer rider who is short, so the size of this Harley Davidson 883 low Sportster 883 cc bike is perfect. It fits me like a glove. I've had experienced riders tell me that the 883cc engine is not powerful enough and that I shouldn't waste my time with it and I should get something with more power. That's not the case for alot of riders. I've learned that every rider has their own preferences. If it feels right, it probably is. The engine has plenty of kick and when riding with a group, ...

The Sportster was a great bike if not for oil leaks and bulbs blowing... and 2nd gear broke from new 50 miles away. 2 weeks repaired. Hotel stay. broke.
if not since 1957 when launched. As a bike had many admiresers. Or looks a lots. But I would park it if not ride it.
Just to look cool...fuel eco was great 110. Reserve was 10 miles at 30 mph. it ' s a BIKE. Pity its still primary cases. As to gears its 21st century...not 20th.gone.
    But cheap bike.

The Harley Davidson SPortster needs better brakes also would bennifit from a more varieable suspension
factory fitted brakes are a total waste of time'they just do not work' the handlebars are too short, and the seat uncomfortable, the factory fitted tires are also unfriendly.
not enough umph throughout all the gears, found it to be very flat at high speeds! Nothing left to give.....

I wanted a Harley Davidson all my life but school, wife, kids, life kept me in Ford Pintos and such. Now, in my 40s (late) I finally get to ride one, bought new and glossy, and experience the dream. Keep you anime creations, I'll ride a Harley from here on out.

A good all round 'old skool' motorcycle. If your not in a hurry and want to enjoy the scenery AND look cool you can do no better.

Acquiring a Harley Davidson motorcycle fulfils a life ambition for me.
I test rode an XL883C - the test bike was fitted with Screaming Eagles and was (for me) a tad too loud. After all I don't really want to wake the neighbours up at 7:00a.m. (no really I don't!)
I liked the 883C straight away. Comfortable, quick enough, handles well even around town. The 17 litre tank was a keen point for me as I don't want to keep stopping for petrol every 100 miles.
I also rode an XL1200L. Loads of power of ...

It is so far removed from the bikes I have owned in the past, I had often thought about getting a sportster. I never liked the more elaborate type of Harley, then my wife took me along to the cinema several months back to see "wild hogs" and that was that. I am really enjoying having my sporty, I have put a few chrome flavoured bits on and done the stage 1 thing, I changed the saddle to a gel filled dual affair(king and queen style) so much more comfy. I think I'll stick with Harleys now and wil ...

As a beginner street biker and being of short stature (5'5), I was searching for a bike that I can stand flat footed at stop lights and stop signs and the 883L fit the bill. Purchased used, with 940 miles on it with 3 months of the factory warranty remaining and factory security system for a little over $6K and I was out-the-door. Found the bike easy to handle and easy on the eyes and great around town scooter, and more than capable for short highway hops.

The Harley Davidson 883 low Sportster 883 cc is an easy laid back ride. Glad I bought it.
Difficult to indicate as indicator button is hard to reach particularly if you are on the verge of opening it out (the throttle that is). Had backache since use so seat needs changing. Metal prongs coming down from the footpegs catch on roundabouts so have taken off and no problems since.
Good providing the new seat when I get it stops my back aching.

Have owned over thirty motorcycles, just not all at once. I ride year-around in the Midwest. Have over 6,000 miles on my Harley Davidson 883 low Sportster 883 cc, with no maintenance whatsoever besides oil changes. It starts when the weather is cold, or when the weather is hot. The motorcycle has valve noise, just as any air-cooled engine. Even with the rubber mounted engine, there is vibration at certain speeds, depending upon load, rpm, etc. That being said, I miss the vibration of the o ...
