I have had an interest in the 9/11 theories and stories since the event and have watched many documentaries and read many books. So when this film came out and was surrounded by so much "hype" as to whether it should be screened or not, like any other curious human being I decided to go and see it.
The film is based on the Flight United 93 flying from Newark to San Francisco with 44 people on board - there were 33 passengers, 7 members of crew and 4 Hijackers.
It was not known to the passengers at the time of the plane takeover what had happened to the Twin Towers and Pentagon until this situation was well under way and they started to call their families.
It is then that a select few of the passengers decide to try and take the plane controls back from the terrorists. The film shows the physical struggle of the passengers, the emotional struggle of the families at home and the frustrations of the ground controllers trying to make sense of this horrifying situation.
This film has been carefully made using fact and sifting theories and makes compelling viewing - it is sad, raw and hard hitting as you know it is real!
It makes you identify with their situation and I found myself wondering what I would have done, how I would have felt in their shoes.
I am glad I watched it and it is very much a personal choice as to whether you do or not but I feel it has been put together well and as the families have been involved in what was put in the film, there is an element of respect for all those that "tried to fight back" and weirdly enough at the end, despite being upset by the film, I strangely felt proud?? I cannot explain that - it is something you may or may not experience yourself if you watch it.
