Previously I owned a DC 04 and I was very satisfied with it, that lasted me about eight years I think. Then about two years ago I bought the DC14, immediately I noticed that the build quality was not good, the hose was slightly shorter so stair cleaning was difficult. The cleaner tipped over when I slightly pulled on it and this is a big problem as it nearly hit me in the face several times. What good is a cleaner that when pulled doesn't wheel along but tips over. The tools keep coming off... (read more)

This is the worst Dyson model i have ever had. My first was the DC01 which was great, but when it needed replacing it was no longer made, so i opted for the DC04. I was never as happy with the DC04 as the first one, but it was still very good. Then i bought this contraption! I thought with it being shorter and wider, that the problem of it tipping over would have been resolved - but no! Also the suction on the 'chisel' end isn't so good......what are those slits all about!? Don't try... (read more)

After owning a DC04 for eight years i replaced it with the later DC14.
I find on comparison that the DC14 collects less dust than the old DC04 I also found that it has been over enginered in respect of its dust empting system.

I've owned this the "Dyson DC14 All Floors" for about two years. It copes brilliantly with two small boys, a constantly moulting house-rabbit and thick wool carpets. I haven't experienced any of the problems of other users. I wash the filters and dust collector every few months and it only lost suction when I vacuumed up damp plaster dust. Unlike my old Henry Numatic(great on hard floors, rubbish on carpets) or my Eletrolux (disintegrated at thirteen months)it seems very practical and... (read more)

After two years brushes stopped revolving and suction was poor. The parts that needed replacing ie the clutch were not covered by the guarantee. Dyson designs are overrated and not made to last. I would not buy another one or recommend them. The hose was not long enough fort the stairs and the metal tube on the end made it difficult to get to awkward places. Also the method of cable storage meant you have to unwind it all before you can use the extension hose. (read more)

Fantastic hoover! After years going through cheaper models (not dysons) finally made myself buy Dyson DC14 all floors. Sucks everything up! Absolutely love it! Finally a house REALLY feels clean! (read more)

I've had different models of Dyson for 15 years (started with the DC01 and am now on the DC14). They're nothing short of fantastic - and they beat the copycat machines by a mile. Recommended. (read more)

I bought one of the first Dysons (DC1) and had it for many years and gave it quite a hammering. I dog, 2 cats and a variety of mucky children - no time to count them! I replaced only 2 bits;
The buffer band and the wand hose, but it always gave excellent suction.
It used to bring up the carpet like a stripe in a corn field.
Then husband presents me with a DC14 (Diamonds would have been better dear!!!) and I hate the thing.

The Dyson DC14 All Floors is a fantastic sucker! Well impressed with the performance. A very powerful machine!
Light comapres to other Dysons. Expensive compares to others but they don't come close to this machine.

Love my Dyson DC14 All Floors, I would suggest anyone should get one. It sucks everything, cleans carpet very well. Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to empty. The initial price to buy it is high but worth it. (read more)

I've tried a few different dyson models and none of them have been great. Firstly, I don't think the adverts are always clear as the Dyson relies heavily on filters and if these filters aren't cleaned regularly, you can expect a loss of suction, overheating and cutting out and in really bad situations spectacular motor burnouts.
Overall the DC14 was 'ok' it performed well on shorter carpets and hard floors but was impossible to push on thick pile ones, the tools are every difficult and...

OK for large open area but as soon as you have clean the stairs or behind the TV etc I had to fight with the machine, also very heavy to carry up and down stairs. Only plus point is the lack of a dust bag but I intend to go back to the old technology. Only bought one of these because of the all the hype! My old Electrolux cylinder cleaner worked great, think I will try another or a Miele. (read more)

I am extremely disappointed with my Dyson DC14 all floors, with all of the hype of never loosing suction, and the price I was sure that I would have a vacuum that i would love and that I can rely on. This is probably one of the worst vacuums i've ever owned, I have to go over my floor at least 4 times and really slow and it only picks up the surface things. I have called customer service to see if they can help but they can't. I am annoyed and I will never buy a dyson again. Not worth the... (read more)

Not worth the money. It worked well for only two months. Like most reviewers we got to the point of cleaning filters, etc weekly and its performance just got worse. I can't wait to sling the thing on the tip. (read more)

We cleaned the pre filter at least once a week. After trying this the vacuum still reaked so we tried taking all of the removable parts off of the vacuum and taking apart the dustbin and we blew everything out with our air compressor. The last two years we have had to blow the whole machine out every week and still the suction was going down and the vacuum still stunk. Over time the little rubber seals that are on all of the plastic parts start to wear out and they make the vacuum lose... (read more)

I am having the same problem but without the smell. The lid that covers the hepa filter keeps blowing off to which I think the hepa filter gets clogged up eventually and pushes the filter against the lid. I was very impressed about this vacuum when new but now think I waisted my money.

Don't bother spending such an amount on a run of the mill vacuum. This company's internet customer support seems to assume you are a complete idiot who can't read the manual that comes with the machine. I purchased a Dyson in 2003 largely based on their advertising. We had only one dog at the time. In less than 2 months of weekly vacuuming, the performance dropped substantially. We clean the filter and bar on a WEEKLY basis with no discernible improvement in performance. This vacuum is... (read more)

Out of all the vacuums I have owned over the years (and I have owned many) this Dyson DC14 for All Floors is by far THE BEST one yet. Set up was very easy, everything just clicked in place and it took me just a couple of minutes to get it going. The best part? The suction without a doubt. It has the strongest suction I have ever encountered with any of the vacuums I have owned. I easily picked up 2 canisters full of dirt, dust, lint and human hair. I do not have any pets so I opted for... (read more)
