Good Points: 2005 XL7 2L Diesel - Excelllent all rounder, economical to run, good selection of equipment, smart looking car and very well priced.
Bad Points: The only bad point is the turbo-lag, unless you are used to the car it can be frightening. Particularly if you are exiting a T junction - you put the foot down to pull away and nothing happens until the revs get up a fair bit, then away she goes like a dream.
General comments: We had the Suzuki Grand Vitara for two years trouble free motoring and then decided to trade up to a Discovery 3. The discovery is in a different class naturally but! and its a big but ---- we prefered the Suzuki, so much so that after fourteen months we are switching back to an XL7. The Discovery is very comfortable and so far its reliable, heavier on diesel - its a heavier car but we found Suzuki after sales were brilliant compared to Land Rover. The depreciation on the discovery is frightening compared to other models.

It's been a real work horse, being used to carry building materials and rubbish as we've renovated our home over the last years.
People moan about Chelsea tractors and them being pointless, the Grand Vitara is actually a cleaner vehicle then many executive ...

I do not do many miles compared to your average rep and cannot really find any major faults with the Suzuki Grand Vitara 2000. It's a great family car and whilst people attach the "Chelsea tractor" label to these such cars, it is usually because they haven't owned one. I feel far safer in this vehicle than I did in my previous cars and as I have a young family this is an important factor.
