    Good Points: Initial telephone contact and subsequent meeting with the Newport manager was friendly and helpful, all looked very promising, and the scooter price was very good. Bike was promised in 5 days, GREAT.


    Bad Points: As soon as the finance cleared the end contact became difficult. After 19 days I phoned and was told the bike was ready. However,w hen I travelled to Caldicot to collect, there was no immobiliser. No alarm fitted and wasn't even fully assembled.


    General comments: After purchasing a scooter at Scootex, the nearest garage was 2 miles away. However the bike ran out of petrol half way there, which was in fact a blessing, because at the garage I checked the oil. It was completely dry. A couple of miles on, my wife pulled in and told me the steering wasn't working and there was banging noises. Dangling down between the forks was the alarm box mechanism which was restricting the steering lock. It had been fitted using sticky back paper,and the movement of the handlebars had practically severed all the wires. If you are thinking of buying a scooter for your child or like me for my wife, I would not recommend SCOOTEX.

    I can not believe that motorbike manufacturers are not regulated, its shocking that they can get away with putting together bikes that are barely road worthy. The bike itself is a good machine, however, I feel really let down by the company and the staff. Never again will I use this company.

    I have been going to Scootex since 2004 for the odd plug and oil, in 2005 I bought my new bike from them. They have always been kind and willing to help their prices on servicing is the cheapest I have seen and it's done well even washed. They have a sign in the office that reads:
    "we work a week in advance, however if it's an emergency we can usually do it straight away".
    Overall I think they are a fantastic dealership and I wish them every success.
