A hippo bag was recommended by my builder so I bought one. However it is now 9 days (7 working days) since I booked collection and it has still not been picked up. I have phoned and been told it will be collected in the next few days, when a driver is next in the vacinity. The bag is taking up a residents' parking place where I live which is causing me problems with neighbours. I will not be using this service again. It would have been quicker, cheaper and more efficient to take it to... (read more)

I bought the bag from Hippo online, the bag arrived quickly. The best part for me is that you don't have to worry with any permissions from the council or anything like that. I have a small wall at the front of my garden, I put the bag in the garden close to this and loaded everything into it. When I booked the pickup the arrived promptly and the crane on the back of the truck just reached over, grabbed, and they were off. They were cheaper than skips as well. Would definitely recommend! If you use this service read the Ts and Cs very carefully because they are very strict and try and hit you with extra charges for anything. Not within 4 yards of the highway? Gate not 13' wide? Some plasterboard in the bag? Kerching! Need a smaller vehicle to get access? Another £35. Couldn't get access? They charge 50% of the fee. No refunds. I really don't think they have a business without the fines. It's just cheaper and easier to get someone licensed to take it to your local tip. And... (read more)

General Comments I had lots of garden waste to dispose of and needed a solution in a hurry and a hippobag was easy and convenient to buy. I arranged my collection through the internet which was an easy, painless experience. I filled my bag Saturday and it was collected Tuesday. Good Points Soooo very easy if you read the instructions and follow them. The placing of the bag, the type of waste and the fact that you need to leave it clear for 5 days is the key to this service. It was, for... (read more)

Putting in a new bathroom, we were decided to use a Hippobag as it was so much cheaper than a skip. Read directions on the bag - filled it up with all the rubble. I chose to phone them to pay and arrange for collection - 2 days later it was collected first thing in the morning. super product, super staff - I highly recommend them. (read more)

The driver of vehicle number HX 06 EVG - on the morning of the 30 th April , followed me along the A 40 ( for several miles ): between Highnam and Birdwood . Most of this road is along restricted speed areas - either 30 or 50 mph with ( so say )cameras covering . The driver of this HGV vehicle was reckless - to say the least ! He continued to press me to break the speed limits - often within twelve feet of my exhaust , but aggressivly sounding off his horn too . Needless to say , I... (read more)

Had 3 mega 1.5t bags with soil from the garden. Picked up next day with no fuss, helpful on the phone and good value for what I wanted. Was worried about the weight and location after reading reviews but no problems - guess follow the instructions to the letter and all is ok. Would prob use a skip next time as the bags do not hold much soil so kept having to go back and buy more!! Really more suitable for light big items that you can't take to the tip in a car, all in all very good set up,... (read more)

My experience with Hippo Bag was good up to the point of the pick up. The lady whom I spoke with on the phon ewas fine an dthe pick up was organised for when I was away so my car would not be in my drive. The Midi, small Hippo Bag was filled with rubble and wood and was left on my tarmac drive just off the road. When I got back from holiday my Hippo bag was still there even though I had filled in a disclaimer to waiver any damage to my drive. I then rang them and they stated that the driver... (read more)

The bag is a great idea, but as with everything there are always hidden fees. 1 If the bag is too heavy then there's a fee 2 they choses a pick up date and if you can do that then guess what there's a cancellation fee, even though you have not said you can gbe there 3 if they decide they cannot pick the bag up may be a tree or a car in the way, hey, there's a fee. I had three bags of mud, I could only fill 2/3rds full but I have no idea how much that weighs, the bags cost £36, then the... (read more)

I was really pleased with how quick my bag was picked up. When I considered using a hippobag I read reviews and the most common negeative point was that they tended to pick the bag up on the 5th working day. I am pleased to report I booked my pick up on Sunday and expected to wait until Friday for the bag to be gone. No it was picked up on the Tuesday how good is that. (read more)

Buy your Hippobag from DIY stores,Take home. When you are ready to clear
your house/garden/garage or shed, no rush, there is no time limit, only
your own convenience. When full, ring up or go on line as I did, to arrange
collection, I payed by card there and then, Hippowaste picked up within 4
days. No messing!! done and dusted. Plus I had Two bags picked up from my
home to which they give me a discount, being the cost of one bag.
Very convenient way of disposal via Hi-ab. A skip requires...

I think Hippowaste Waste Bags are a reasonable price if you have a small amount of household waste to get rid of, not if it is soil or heavy items. To start the bags are painful if you are filling them with loose material like soil, they don't keep their shape and you keep having to try and shift the soil around to get it level. And the small print says that for soil you can only fill it to 2/3rds which then works out more expensive than a skip. Also remember you will have to wait for a... (read more)

I have just used a Hippowaste waste bag. I was a bit reluctant to use one as I didn't know what to expect. I've recently gutted one of my bedrooms and needed to dispose of lots of wood and carpet. I filled the biggest Hippobag 'The Mega' with all my waste, and I was surprised that I only needed one bag. I then called the company for a collection, and the bag was collected within 2 days . The staff were extremely polite, and the driver managed to take the bag away with no problems. It proved... (read more)
