Good Points: This rifle is light and easy to handle. It appears to be of solid construction with no screws having come loose after 200 shots, and I think that is a good sign. It has extreme power for the money, decent sights and it is surprisingly accurate. Some key spare parts are also included. Bottom line for me is that this is just a good shooting gun, and I would buy it all over again.

Bad Points: I do not really consider any of this guns attributes to be of concern. As has been mentioned, it is a little hard to cock, and the recoil might be a bit harsh, but in my book, these things are easily overlooked when you consider how well this rifle gets the job done.

General comments: At first I was not sure what to make of the Baikal Baikal MP 513M .22 CAL gun. For all the reasons mentioned in vinceb's excellent review, it is quite different from any other air rifle that I have ever encountered. I can not testify to it's durability as of yet, because I have only shot it about 200 times, but at this point I am very impressed with the way it performs. Yes, it is a bit hard to cock, and yes the recoil may be a little harsh, but it handles well, and shoots very accurately, with impressive power. I have a feeling that most people who buy this gun, and give themselves a chance to get used to it, will like it very much, as I do.

I bought this gun after having sampled (and sold) the same gun in .177, and it makes a lot more sense in .22. The largish powerplant and strong spring add up to 19-20ft-lbs worth of energy, which (at present) is hard to beat for the price. The rifle is surprisingly light - among other things it has an aluminum compression tube and breach block that contribute to a weight of a little more than 6lbs for my example. The last one I had was heavier, I suspect the wood on that one might have been a lit ...

In general the Baikal MP 513M is a good looking and powerful gun. Free standing I can group about 1 inch center to center at 30 yards. Pointed Diablo Boxer pellets will go through 3/4 inch pine at 30 yards no problem! Very heavy cocking and quite the recoil. No problem killing rabbits crows and starlings at 25 yards as the .22 cal. has heavy hitting power. Would recommend as target or small game rifle. Great gun.
