“Loan!S!2learn”

★★★☆☆

written by AlexPL on 10/01/2023

I got an offer to borrow £1,000 from this company. as others write, they demanded an advance payment from me to cover the cost of sending money 25 £. My question is is there any person who sent this money and received a loan? because I see that a few years ago, despite communication difficulties, etc., people received money, now it's really hard is to find information about this company. the company is given on the one hand under the name Casper Finance (in the e-mail with the offer) on the other hand in Sparkle Financial or as Loans2learn. the name is very similar to loans2go and most of the reviews are about this other company, loans2learn i really only found something here. the company is registered at PE29 2BQ, Chord Business Park, London Road, Godmanchester,

“The “contract” does not comply with FCA standards....”

written by Kaytee1992 on 31/05/2022

The “contract” does not comply with FCA standards. As a previous underwriter of one of the worlds biggest banks I have met personally with the Fca on a number of occasions. They are not registered with companies house, there is no records with the Fca. Thejr listed address js a building Iof veterinary practices. The email address they use is for a different company and also a gmail address which is insecure to say the least. I’ve sent back a long email asking for information. A set up fee is not uncommon, but paying it without providing bank details is. They are not registered with companies house either. The email address used is a gmail address not a legitimate business one. The figures quoted £1000/24 months & 47 does not include any interest rates either. Has sham written all over it in my professional experience.

written by Hartap404 on 27/05/2022

I just received an email today telling me I could get 1000 with repayments of 49 a month. I decided to research the company as I have recently been swindled out of 500 quid and came across this site. Thanks very much for these reviews. I have now blocked them on my emails. Didn’t send them any money thank god.

“I applied to this company Raydium Finance on behalf of...”

written by Ryan.76 on 09/04/2022

I applied to this company Raydium Finance on behalf of Loans 2 learn over the last few days about a loan off £1000, paying back £47.81 for 24 months at 10%APR which I was happy to do, but all of a sudden I was told that I had to pay a refundable £25 to set up the loan threw a Google play card which at the time I thought strange but ok, as this would have gotten me my loan, but no then it was refundable £125 as a security deposit which again I paid and was told the funds where now sent threw a company called CHAPS and would be in my account by 11am today 9/4/2022. Again nothing I understand it being the weekend and could take longer… I emailed the company loans 2 learn again to let them know that there was nothing in my bank account from this transfer company either, what I got emailed back to me has just blew everything out of the water, this so called company loans 2 learn apparently are now trying to get an additional refundable £175 to cover VAT charges from me before the funds will be sent, I have all the emails still on my phone and will be passing them on to the FCA to let them know this company is not legitimate as they are taking money from vulnerable people when times like these are hard enough. Absolutely disgusted with there practice.

I had the same two days ago. I straight away thought it was strange when they asking fir a £25 set up fee of the loan.not only that the wording and sentences were wrong for a legitimate regulated company. I can't find then on the FCA with the regulated number Raydium sent me, neither can I find either name!

Even the bank just said if you apply for a loan that requests money before you’ve even got the money not to do it! Hope no one else gets stuck with this situation

They insist they are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority which I highly doubt as no company that does loans will ever charge fees before you get your loan money, I wanted to go with this company for a loan of £1000 payable @47 pm

They dont seem to have a good reputation judging by all these reviews here

“Absolutely Horrible Company - DO NOT USE!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Alvarezkm69 on 05/04/2017

This is absolutely the worst company I have ever had to deal with financially. I made the mistake of co-signing for my daughters student loan...HUGE mistake. They harrass and send threatening emails and when I would check on the payments, they had been paid...notifications and information were very conflicting and inaccurate. I do not dispute that she was not late a few times, however most companies will work with you in good faith....not these folks....BE WARNED!! My credit report has tanked thanks to them... DO NOT USE!!!

written by bready on 08/01/2015

Please do not use this private student loan. Now, that the CEO is under fire for misuse of funds, they have report my account to the Credit Bureau and continue to report negative comments and to a collection agency which is an attorney's office whom you will have to pay their fee plus interest for making the collection and loan to lean. Keep in mind you still have to make monthly payments to the attorney's office with interest, that you will never complete your payments. They have destoryed my credit for one late payment.

Avoid at all costs. Predatory. Customer service is absolutely horrible, that is, if you can even get a primary english speaker. Interest is compounded daily.

“I was approved for the money I needed.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 03/11/2013

I applied for a loan in 2008 for $4000 to purchase books and other school necessities for the year with my father as a cosigner. It was definitely my mistake in taking this loan on as this is a $4000 loan over the course of 240 months at an 11% interest rate which would put me at nearly $20,000 into it. At the time all I saw was $4000 in my coffer to take care of business, but now that I look at it and all the payments I've made, out of every $45.00 payment I make, nearly $37.00 is entirely into interest payments. If you are younger or you are the cosigner to a loan like this, please don't make the mistake into getting into business with this loan company. I have paid my bills on time with this company and have had very little issue with them, but the mistake was on my part in not realizing a terrible deal staring me in the face. Save your money and go a different route, because even though I'm having no issue paying these people, some might, and I've heard they are not quite as friendly to those with hardships.

“I've never dealt with a more disrespectful company.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Boogieheads on 04/04/2012

I took out one loan to finish up my senior year of school. Huge mistake! I made all my payments on time but ultimately had to file for bankruptcy. Loan was deferred per judge and trustee. Paid off the bankruptcy early and promptly resumed payments to L2L. I've presented them with court records stating the loan was deferred and I'm told " no it wasn't". Customer service is rude, disrespectful, and down right mean. I've even doubled my payment to pay the loan off early but I've been told quote, "a descent person wouldn't have missed any payments." I was hoping to hear that this company would go bankrupt so they could experience it. You don't do it cause you want to.

“Loan to Learn is the worst company I have ever dealt with!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mcbarbee on 04/08/2011

Loan was easy to apply for. My son took out loans for two years in a row and I co-signed (big mistake!). My son was making the payments and although he was late several times, once Loan to Learn puts you on their bad list, there is no dealing with them. I have never spoken to more stupid people in my entire life. When the bills were kept up to date, they would harrass

“They are predatory lenders. And then when you have a...”

written by on 07/02/2010

They are predatory lenders. And then when you have a problem, they don't care. I lost my job and had to drop out of college. When I called them (to be responsible and work out a smaller payment plan) to let them know all of this, they basically told me that they didn't care and that they would take me to court. After they started threatening me, they turned my paperwork over to an aggressive lawyer. Every time I call to make a payment, they tell me how it isn't enough EVERY SINGLE TIME I CALL. They keep threatening me to take me to court to garnish my wages even though I am paying them something every month. I called the loan company to tell them about the lawyers being rude and that I didn't want to go through them anymore. The loan office told me that I had to go through the lawyers office. So sorry, I thought I was paying LOAN TO LEARN not Howe and Associates. Even though I am technically poverty level, they keep threatening me to garnish my wages when in reality they legally can't because I don't make enough money. And now I find out that I can't even file bankruptcy on it because Bush passed a bill where you basically can't file bankruptcy unless you are practically disabled. I can barely feed myself and they want me to send them $400 a month? I don't think so!

written by smikk02 on 17/08/2007

Horrible application process. They always seem to lose parts of your application and verification forms, so you have to keep resubmitting them, which takes forever. When the check supposedly finally goes out, it is conveniently sent to the "other" address on the application; and when it's not attached to that either, they insist that it was sent out. Also, supervisors seem to go home pretty early, so if you call after 3pm, good luck getting anything done. If you need the money for bills or tuition in a timely manner, I would not recommend Loan to Learn.

“With most loans, if you make your payment early, you...”

☆☆☆☆☆

written by borkyork on 27/04/2007

With most loans, if you make your payment early, you generally take off more from your principle and are OK for the rest of the month. With Loan To Learn, they take daily interest every day between each due date. Here's an example of why this is so bad. Let's say you have a loan of $45,000 with a minimum monthly payment of $430. If you pay your $430 two weeks in advance, part goes to interest accrued between last due date and the time the payment goes in, and the other part goes to principle. Between that time and your actual due date, daily interest accrues and is then applied to your principle. In my case, I had a payment due for $405. I paid $435 2 weeks early. My statement the next month showed that my principle went up. Their policies are backwards.

“I applied through Bank of America, not "Loan to...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by roaringleo on 17/08/2006

I applied through Bank of America, not "Loan to Learn", so when they called me, I thought they were just trying to sell me something. Finally, I put 2 and 2 together and then called them. They never answer Bank of America.

They then asked for my driver's license four times, but never left a message (this was after the "Loan-to-Learn debacle). Then they put me through 34 days (and counting) in processing. Sometimes they tell me the check will be sent out tomorrow, sometimes they can't tell me anything other than it's processing.
They are very inconsistent when asking security questions. Sometimes they don't even ask anything beyond my first name and an application ID.

written by monterey5 on 18/06/2006

My family and I had a really great experience with Loan to Learn; from the people on the phone who made our anxiety disappear, to the easy application, to the speed that I got my money. I remember when my older brother got a student loan a couple of years ago from a different company; my parents were totally stressed and anxious throughout the process.

The bottom line is anyone can give you money, but not every company can make the process as easy and stress-free as Loan to Learn. I'd recommend this company to anyone looking for money for college.

Borkyork's Response to monterey5's Review

I agree with everything that you said. However, repayment is where they get you. I posted a review about them. I have never been late with a payment, and I always pay more than the minimum. One month my principle actually went up because I didn't pay exactly on the due date (2 weeks early).

I took out 2 loans with loan to learn in 2006 & 2007. Paid on both loans every month on time up until Hirricane Ike struck the Texas coast in 2008. Lost job, home and cars. Ended up having to file bankruptcy in 2008. Loan to learn was included. After listing job second time, bankruptcy was discharged. My parents were co-signers on the loans. In 2012 papers were served for lawsuit action. Me and my parents worked out an agreement with the attorneys office collecting for loan to learn. A pmt arrangement was made and we've been paying monthly on time since January 2013. Now all of a sudden EDUCATION is suing me (the borrower) because I live in Texas and my parents live in Louisiana, even though payments were and are still making payments to the attorneys office in Louisiana. Can I be sued if payments are being made?
