Good Points: Great size
Bad Points: Dead motherboard
General comments: This has been a great little laptop. The size is great. I bought it new two years ago and treated it very carefully. This week the motherboard simply died on me. Data retrieved from hard disk but new motherboard would cost me around £350. I paid £800 for the laptop two years ago. I'm stuffed. £400 per year usage is expensive. I will not purchase a Philips brand laptop again.

Keypad wears off, scroll on mouse failed to work after a year and battery power quickly declined even though everything was done to prevent this happening.
Good laptop for general use but if used all day every day the silver covering wears off and battery power runs down to nothing. Therefore I do not recommend Philips Freevents x52 laptop.

I have always rated Toshiba best, but tried a Sony Vaio after 3 Tecras. Wish I hadn't but perhaps I wouldn't have discovered the Freevents X52!.
Philips -F You have a winner here, why don't you get behind it?

I've worked my way through Toshiba's, Sony's and a Acer Ferrari (wicked looks, but so heavy to lug around). I thought about a notebook, but they are all so overpriced - except the Philips Freevents x52! It was around £750 from memory, and it's the best business tool I've used for a long time. Last week I did a load of accounts and then watched a DVD on the Paddington - Truro train, and the battery petered out after just short of 4 hours - way different to larger machines, which claim on ...

Very happy with this product, no problems as of yet except the Philips Media Manager software doesn't run properly. The touchpad buttons need to be depressed quite hard before working. There is an Express card reader rather than PCMCIA, which isn't so good at present as very few Express card available yet.

The Philips Freevents x52 is an excellent ultra ultra portable laptop. Screen size is a bit of a pain but you get used to it using at max res 1280x800. The only downside is the lack of bluetooth and an IR port but the wireless 802.11 a/b/g makes up for it. The card reader is a nice touch but I would rather the bluetooth.
Speed is excellent. For a sensible sized laptop bag - go for one for the mac
