Good Points: Low price Easy to use Excellent print quality Quiet
Bad Points: Ink cartridges run out quickly The lid comes off when scanning bulky items
General comments: I installed this HP PSC 2355 for a family member and was knocked out by the quality. My previous experience of inkjet printer was limited to an Epson and 2 HP printers. One of the HP printers was a G85 all in one affair which I still use although colour printing is not often used.
The 2355 really does come into its own when colour printing. The range and definition of colour is quite stunning and a lot quicker than I'm used to. Great for school projects. It is best to use thicker paper to print colour though - 100g/m bright white paper is better if more expensive that the usual bulk sale 80g/m copier paper.
The one point I would mention is the longevity of the ink. HP ink is not cheap and although the cartridge capacity is good for this size of printer, the ink doesn't last very long. If you shop around on the net you can get great discounts if you buy a few cartridges at a time and it pays to keep one of each of the colour and black cartridges to avoid expensive purchases on a Sunday afternoon at PC World for that project due on Monday morning! This is a general point that affects all colour inkjet printers rather than particularly specific to this printer.
Another issue is the lid. It clips on very easily but can unclip just as easily. The lid is articulated to allow you to place a book underneath the lid (a similar mechanism to a panini grill) but if the book is too large it forces the lid to unhinge. It's more of a niggle than a problem as you can scan without the lid in any event.
Overall I would recommend this printer as integration into a system (running Windows XP) is straightforward. The software provided is comprehensive and without issue although you should follow instructions and install software BEFORE plugging in the printer.
