Good Points: Strong engine, nice looking, 1700 Di is more powerful than you would think, Lots of space, Reliable.
Bad Points: Low interior trim unless money is spent on extra's.
General comments: Great van it's big inside and has a strong range of engine's. Only problem is the amount of stuff you get yeah it's a van but spend a little on extras and it'll be fine.

I note the previous entry dated 07/05/08, which mentions the problems with the pods which rust. I to have this problem with mine. The writer mentions replacing theirs with a fibre glass pod, I have searched for such an item but have been unable to find one. Couild anyone tell me where I could find such an item.

All in all, a good van for local work. Had an escort 55 van for years, this has stacks more room. As i car Valetor, I have added water tanks shelves and i can still get stacks more stuff in it. Dead Easy to work on.

Maybe I was just unlucky, but my Vauxhall Combo van has been an utter mess. I was warned that these vans eat alternators and so it has. Pretty useless if you show it a hill. The engine looks like it was shovelled in and stamped on until it fitted.

Easy to drive, fairly good fuel consumption - loads of room in the back.
I was very happy with my van until both my CV joints worn out due to inproperly fitted gaiters after 4 years (was still under warranty when this first happened. Our local garage want over 1,000 to renew them. My partner's identical model van - CV Joint gaiters insecurely fitted (also within warranty) - Terrible customer service from our local dealership.

I've had my combo now for over 4 years and have just bought a newer one (1.4 Petrol lpg conversion). The combo is perfect for the self employed tradesmen. It fits everything i need into it. I've owned several other vans, including a ford escort 55 van. The combo is much better than all except for its power and speed. Fully loaded it will take all my tools, cement mixer, scaffold boards etc, but put a few bags of plaster in as well it struggles!!
Occasionally I have had to replace things that we ...

Ive had my Vauxhall Combo 1700 4dr for 3 years now, bought it for £400 and it's been brilliant. In both cost of running, maintenance and reliability. My colleague has a 52 plate transit connect from new and that has broken time and time again. Ive not broken down once and MOTs have never been anything major or costly. I have learned that this largely down to the fact that I bought a 1994 (M-reg) Combo 1.7 Diesel which has been fitted with the Isuzu engine. Isuzu's are legendary for reliabi ...

My Vauxhall Combo 1700 4dr van is generally reliable, although not recommended for long journeys as it's a bit underpowered but for local work it's good.
