I blame myself for buying a 2nd Fellows shredder. I would be better off utilising a magnifying glass and the sun's rays to dispose of my unwanted paper files than rely on this stress indusing USELESS shredder!

Even if Staples are giving this thing away I implore you to walk on by unless you enjoy having to clear paper from the shredding spindles every other 2 pieces of paper you endeavour to dispose.

Wish I hadn't bought this. Have had a Fellowes basic shredder for about 12 years and had no problems with it. You can use it for longer than the 10mins that is all it takes for this new shredder to start overheating (and smelling badly). Makes a great mess under the bin which doesn't hold much and stops working after a short while. I don't recommend it. I would have liked to know that you could it use it for more than 10 mins at a time and for more than 25-50 passes per day - hopeless.

I so wish I had taken this back to staples and demanded my money back, it has finally jammed completely, and smells of smoke! It is the worst shredder I have ever used. It jams with two sheets of paper, it over heats and it is an expensive mistake I will not be making again.

Just bought one of these yesterday from Staples and its going back today. It cannot cope with more than a couple of letters at once and not for longer than a minute or two before jamming/overheating. Certainly does not do what it says on the box. A rubbish, waste of money retailing for £80.

The most awful shredder of all time. It jams constantly as the cutters clog with the shredded paper requiring picking shredded paper out of it with pliers. I only shred 1-2 sheets at a time and oil it as per the instructions. Eventually after months of suffering this it jammed so bad that it had to be thrown away.

“There are a lot of comments about the Fellowes PS-62C...”

There are a lot of comments about the Fellowes PS-62C not coping with 10 or 20 sheets of paper at a time, but it clearly says it's only meant to shred up to six at a time (thats even stamped on the top of the shredder), can people not read these days?
We've probably only oiled ours twice in the last year or so and we shred up to 30 sheets a month at the minimum, so I'm very happy with its reliability.
It's not the quietest thing in the world, but it's only on for a few seconds so no issue there.
We do try to take out staples before we shred, but I'm sure a handful have gone through by mistake with no obvious ill effects.

I believe the Fellowes PS-62C does not do what it says on the tin!
Ok for shredding 1 piece of paper at a time, however after about 10 pages it overheats and cuts out.

“I feel the Fellowes PS-62C is a poor performing...”

written by leeharper on 18/09/2008

I feel the Fellowes PS-62C is a poor performing shredder. Has had very minimal use in the approx 2 years I have had it so I do not think the problems can be blamed on wear and tear.

My shredder appears to overheat and shut itself off after a very short time, sometimes only after a couple of minutes.

The cutters clog up because the shredded paper doesn't always fall from the cutters, ends up with the motor struggling to turn and the motor sometimes gives up and stops - I have to manually switch it to reverse/forwards repeatedly to unclog.

The automatic paper sensor seemed to stop working soon after it was bought.

Have taken the unit apart to try to clear clogged paper and the motor area was full with paper dust which looks as though it clogs the workings up and helps overheating.

The removable bin drags any paper that is stuck to the cutters so I end up with paper shreddings in the bottom of the unit and over the floor.

Wouldn't recommend it

“The Fellowes PS-62C paper shredder is totally useless...”

written by idsltd on 30/05/2006

The Fellowes PS-62C paper shredder is totally useless for anything apart from simple home use.

It overheats after just shredding 20 single sheets. Not suitable for a small office. On the first one, the cutting blades snapped off, and it finally gave a loud crunch and packed in all together. Now the warranty replacement (factory refurbished) is playing up. The problem as I see it is that the shredded paper packs up around the back of the cutters, increasing the load on the motor until it cannot cope with more than 20 sheets of 80g paper before the overheat trips out.

I am now awaiting my third warranty replacement (probably another refurbished unit), but I do not hold out much hope on that being any better.
