Having used my mums for years i was finally glad to own my own Penguin. It gives a good strong burst of steam, enough to lift candle wax off of my plastic window sill. Easy to use, just press the lever on his head a few times to get the steam going, then press it every few seconds to keep it going. It is a strong jet, but as it heats the water as it goes the strength will wane to get stronger again very quickly as it generates new steam. I find it gives a lovely streak free shine to my... The weak spurt of steam was nowhere near strong enought to shift any dirt. The flex is far too short. It would not reach from the hall to the bathroom. You need an extension lead to go any distance. I have used it once. I shall not bother again. In its favour it is quite a cute design although too small to be efficient. I do not recommend any-one buying it (read more)

I have this hometek ht881 steamer for more then 2 years and I can say i use it for all purpose i needed. It is ok and it makes good job although I have a problem with refilling all the time the tank with water. If you use it full power in 20 minutes the tank is empty and you have to stop, wait for the steamer to cool of and then to refill it.this thing it takes you more then 1/2 hour which is not a good thing when you are in the hurry.
Otherwise it is a good product, great power of the steam,...

The first use of my Hometek HT881 Penguin was fine when I used it to clean the shower - not quite as good as the demonstration, but not too bad. However when I went to use it for the second time there was nothing - not even a small puff of steam I tried ALL of the manufacturers tips and still could not make the thing work. (read more)

This product is a waste. It is impossible to use as expected. The pump action does not produce enough pressure to get the desired results and is soon tiresome. I advise you to avoid. (read more)

This hopeless implement by the name of Hometek HT881 Penguin has got to be the biggest waste of money ever. Quite simply, this steam cleaner doesn't work. It wouldn't even shift toothpaste splats on my bathroom sink, it didn't go near grease spots in the kitchen and it was totally useless on a light mark on my living room carpet.
Also, what the advertising blurb fails to tell you is that in order to get a continuous stream of steam, you have to be constantly squeezing the pump handle...

I was very disappointed with this Hometek product, little or no steam one minute and then a gush of steam which lasted no more than a few seconds. (read more)

Overall te Hometek HT881 Penguin is a neat little machine but very disappointed that only way to get any decent pressure you have to pump handle continuously, if you need to scrub inside a cooker it is very hard to maintain pressure and clean at the same time. After one use the brushes become bent and out of shape, therefore of little use. Great for cleaning mirrors, windows etc and freshening up work tops but hard work trying to use for anything else. Suddenly stopped working. Although the pump made a noise no steam came out. Tried descaler to no avail. Probably worth a try if its on special offer otherwise an expensive gadget for a couple of uses. (read more)

Including this Hometek HT881 Penguin, I have had 5 mops in 2 years which either fall apart of the steam simply stops working effectively. If this model was more robust then it would score much higher. (read more)
