This Magnum 850 really is a good gun,we have many Co2 pistols and love the format so a rifle was the next step.A pcp costing much more can not justify the price paid after this gun.Shooters at the club have Pcp rifles but at least two of them have the 850 for summer shooting.Be aware,do not leave yourself open to dissapointment by trying to shoot in the winter. The gas does not like it at all and although there are ways to fight this you will still have a negative affect on your shooting... Anyone out there got a breakdown manual for this little gun? My son in law dropped his rifle off with me to have a look after breaking the bolt (don't ask!!) when I took off the covers it "mouse trapped" all over the kitchen so could do with some instructions to get this together again. Think I can fix the bolt by drilling out the old threads and rethreading the remaining metal on the bolt but if anyone can point me to a full replacement that would be a great help. Thanks Alan (read more)

Lots of the reviews i read stated problems with the loading mechanism and jamming, i have found if you keep it clean and lubricated you will have no issues at all. I have chronographed mine and got 11 ft ibs steady over 30 shots I have it sighted in for 35-40yds and it will drop bunnies at this range all day long. The 88g CO2 lasts for 100 ish shots, i dont know where people are getting 300 or more from. The only problem i had was shooting in cold weather. Early mornings, late evenings if... (read more)

Bought less than two months ago, lost power after 600 shots so it was returned to the shop, repaired after 2 days, cleaned and the 2x 12g co2 container replaced. Great for another 200 shots then hey no power again, wasted about 10 cartriges and another 200 pellets fannying about with it to no avail. if anyone has any ideas on the problem I would be a happy man, PLEASE BE QUICK AS IM ABOUT TO SMACK IT ROUND A TREE. whish id never bought it, total bag of manure. I do hope you realise that 2 x 12 g CO2 canisters are only good good for about 100 shots maximum. In fact I'd be prepared to replace at 50 shots. The 88g canisters will go to about 400 shots if you are just playing around but even these I'd replace at about 200.
Other than gas costs it's a brilliant gun.

Ive just bought the woodstock version of this rifle, i do like it, got the looks etc but im having the same problem with my gas....its good for 5 of the 8 round clips you load into it so roughly 40 shots....but even at that, im still finding it hard to kill rabbit at around 35 yards.... however the grouping is excellent, i can shoot 8 pellets (complete flat head) at a basic card target messured at 35 yard... and group them with in 2 inch's!

First of all. I am a very experienced air rifle hunter and target shooter, with over forty years of air rifle shooting experience. I've borrowed mine with a view to try-before-buy testing. I like the look of The Umarex 850 Air Magnum for the fun it offers as a bolt-action Co2 powered plinking rifle, with, perhaps, a bit of medium range hunting if it's power level was up to that task humanely.
Chronographing a variety of pellets in .22 calibre for this Co2 rifle, the best were RWS...

This is an amazing gun. All of the cocking action feels good and sounds great. Bought a ghillie suit with this and went into some shooting grounds. Gray squirrels, rats, pigeons and seagulls hate this thing. Felt like a sniper. Had the silencer on with a nicco sterling sight. Wouldn't recommend getting the kit as the sight isn't very good. The fibre optic sights are very nice and you can shoot 30m freehand and get a bullseye effortlessly. Great gun, five star, and would of bought this again... (read more)

I have been shooting air rifles (nearly all springers) and shotguns since an early age but I had never got round to purchasing one for myself. After extensive searching I decided on the Umarex 850 AirMagnum in .22. This gun fulfilled my needs perfectly: It is not as expensive as a PCP, whilst having similar performance, and it was powerful enough for hunting.

Hi mate, just to let you know you can adjust the trigger pull. Wanting a short and easy pull for target shooting i see? no worries, there's a screw right infront of the trigger. For more information, be sure to check the instruction manual. :)

All that screw does is adjust the pull length, it doesn't actually change the trigger weight, or improve the breaking point.

I would just like to add a couple of pieces of useful info that I have found subsequently to writing this review.

Concerning the attachment of a bipod, Harris do a useful little sling/bipod attachment device which is called 2R. It requires drilling a hole in the foregrip but this is very easy to do. The result is far more aesthetically pleasing than the umarex option and allows for the mounting of any Harris style bipod.

I have also recently purchased a silencer. I bought the Brocock slip-on version which is far superior to the Umarex one. Really makes a difference in the sound output and takes about 30 seconds to put on. The retort is barely noticeable at 40 yards. No more scaring away every bunny within 300 yards for me.

Written on: 04/07/2010
This rifle lacks power. Ok up to 30 yards, them you can physically see the loss of performance of the pellet. It slows and drops considerably at 35 yards. When inserting a new magazine you have regular feed issues and can und up with two or more pellets in the barrel if you are not careful. If you have a bipod attached, the mounting bracket is poor and provides no stability, the rifle twists considerably from side to side. This is not a rifle for target shooting, even at a basic level its... (read more)

I tend to disagree with this review. I think you might be using the wrong ammo. I know the 850 is suseptable to the ammo type and make as I found too. Try using RWS super points or super hollow points, they feed nicely in the mag. Don't sell the Umarex 850 short, they are a good gun.

Foxes and hares! I don't think so, maybe the Co2 was leaking and you inhaled some!
On a serious note a sub 12 ft lb air rifle is not suitable and never will be for shooting foxes or hares.
Stick to rats, rabbits, crows etc
Written on: 27/11/2011
What planet are you on dude? \"Performs like a bullet gun\"? The Daystate Air Ranger 80 is one of the most powerful air rifles on the market and even that does not perform like a \"bullet gun\". Blasts through foxes and hares does it? Maybe paper targets with pictures of foxes and hares on them. You need high powered FAC rated air rifles for foxes, not something with a miniature SodaStream cartridge in it. You'll be lucky to be getting anything over 10ftlb of muzzle energy from a Umarex 850 Air Fagnum. The bloke I know who has one of these deeply regrets buying it and wishes he had put his money towards a decent PCP.

This rifle is an absolute beast with is 8 rotary type clip, polymer receiver and stock (which is what the H&K G36 is made from), fiber-optic open sights, it's 600mm steel barrel and super smooth bolt action (which is also made of a high quality metal).
The good points towards this gun is it's power. On a fresh new 88 gram co2 canister it punches out either a .177 or .22 pellet at approx 16 joules (11.5 ft/lb). When the power runs down to it's last shots which is around 40 shots where it is...

Great Weapon. I bought the kit from Pellpax. The rats definitly don't like it. Only one moan, the rotary mag has an O ring that retain the pellets. I have had two of these fail in the first month. Have tried standard size rings but they jam the bolt in the mag. I am trying to find out the correct spec. for this ring from from Umarex but currently they are not speaking to me. I have just purchased an Airmagnum .22, and I must say it is a brilliant rifle.
Other than it being a bit front heavy due to the placement of the CO2 canister, I have found no problems with it.
The bolt action is smooth and consistent, and the magazine fits even the longest pellets with room to spare, without jamming. Also, despite claims to the contrary, the pellets seem to 'click' snugly into place and remain in place without falling all over the place.
The hollow stock feels a bit...
