Good Points: Tremendous sea view, everything looked clean-pity about the dull rainy day, the view would have been magnificent.

Bad Points: Perhaps a little pricey, a bit over what I would consider the general average we experienced during our Irish holiday of over fourteen days.

General comments: After a long, windy rainy and grey day we were greeted with warmth and a real Irish smile. It was the first ray of sunshine that day. The welcome was warm, friendly and made us (4) feel we were somebody special. In all fairness to the other negative comments - we arrived early and were served promptly. The meals were served quickly and as ordered. The ladies Mexican dish was delicious, and the meat for the men superb. Perhaps the first impression was the helping looked a little small for the men, but in all honesty it was more than enough when finished. We have talked about it since our return to Switzerland to friends and family and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

55 Degrees North is the first restaurant I've ever walked out of without paying. We waited 45 minutes for two rare steaks, some fries and garlic mushrooms. My rare steak was medium at best, a hint of pink in the middle. It was returned, but only after a member of staff asked me to cut it in front of her to verify how it was cooked (oh dear). She mentioned that chef had had a few steaks returned, maybe this should have indicated something to her. Meanwhile, my wife's steak (also overcooked, but n ...

I have dined here quite often an get annoyed to read such bad reviews for starters I wouldn't compare 55 to the winebar etc its a different dinning experience completely (for the better) the food is alwys good and yes portions may look small on arival but quite sufficient to eat. Who wants to leave so stuffed that you can't move. Keep up the good work an see you soon.

Magnificent views and setting. This restaurant has the potential to be top class but is, in my opinion, let down by the staff and food. This place may be ok for a drink but definitely not to dine unless you want very basic cafe style service. The fixtures and fittings are a bit tired for such a trendy interior and a food spill was not wiped up promptly ..which is dangerous. I would not recommend this place except for the view-tragic to have wasted such a spectacular setting!

Great view of the north coast [probably only good point]. -poor service, food cold, portions small, quality lowand highly priced. The restaurants situated at Portrush harbour, like the wine bar are far better as regards food and atmosphere.

55 Degrees North in Portrush is too expensive, with slow service, and the air conditioning either too high or too low. Also, some of the food I received was cold and cooked below my standard. It is the first time I have dined at a restaurant where the chef is incapable of cooking beef fillet to medium-well done. I couldn't believe it!

I have dined here on a number of occasions and have yet to be disappointed in the quality of food or service. This always seems to be a busy restaurant, but the service doesn't seem either hurried or delayed. There seems plenty of quiet space for couples, which I particularly like.

55 Degrees North in Portrush is a very very good restaurant, I have never had a bad meal or experience there. The staff are always very friendly, and they food is fantastic (you need to try the steaks)! They need to keep hold of that chef!!

The food had great flavour but there was a problem - it was stone cold. Served on cold plates in ridiculously strong air conditioning my potatoes and vegetables were too cold to eat a couple of minutes after being served and my steak wasn't too far behind. Quite expensive and very disappointing.

We had decided to try this restaurant a while back (last summer) as it was new and looked really nice from the outside. When we got in the views were lovely and we were seated beside the large windows. As said before this was where the experience began and ended. The staff were clueless as regards serving customers, very very poor service. The menu was limited, my partner is a fussy eater so he had a hard task trying to find something "normal" as he put it. I had a smoked chicken ceasar sal ...

I went to the 55 Degrees North restaurant with a group of friends after hearing very mixed reports. I loved the idea of looking out over the great North Antrim coast, but that was the the beginning and ending of my excitement about the place. They are obviously trying to cut costs by employing staff who haven't been trained to any level, obviously doing a part-time job and don't really care. The food was distinctly average and nothing to write home about. I hope they do well out of the tourist t ...
