Good Points: Clear sound Very lightweight Hands free (with mic and ear phones) Good range Easy to master Silent alert (vibrates) function Plenty of channels
Bad Points: Uses up 4 AAA alkaline batteries in 10 hours Not water tight Charger
General comments: I use the Midland G-300 10 Mile Range two way radios at home and in the field. They are very very good, offering a good range in the open, and clear sound. In 300m and 2-3 feet of concrete between the radios I got a good signal.
I mostly use them with the headset. In the VOX setting (hands free), and I lock the key pad. I found it best to blow in to the mic first before speaking to be sure the radio is transmitting. The 'Roger' beep is also a good function.
When I use them in wet environment, I rap the radios in plastic with just the headset wire coming out.
I've had them for about 2 years now, and I am very satisfied with them, but not the charger, which packed-up in 2 months, and you can charge them from the mic port. That was a waste of money.
