I have been receiving the medium veg box from Abel and Cole for several weeks now. I have had organic veg boxes in the past and given them up as the veg all too often was good for nothing other than compost, so I wasn't really expecting great things. How wrong could I be? The quality of the veg is absolutely first class. The shape of the veg is not the perfect, uniform shape that you get in the supermarkets. Good! Veg does not all grow to a uniform size and shape. I have the same experience as Eleanor. After being a faithful customer for a few years, earlier this year I started finding the quality had degraded: yoghurts didn't last, at least one fruit or vegetable on the box was rotting and indelible. After I stopped using their service, they started hassling me with phone calls. The last straw was when I recently started receiving random marketing rubbish from companies. We were really looking forward to our first delivery but unfortunately have been greatly disappointed. We usually shop at Waitrose and Ocado and prefer organic and free range food. The vegetables in our Abel & Cole box were ok except for the kiwi fruit which was over ripe and the carrots were starting to decay.
The cake, bread and scones were the biggest disappointment as they were hard - we expected at the premium cost we paid that they would be fresh but that was not the case! The... (read more)

I purchased two gift boxes for friends as Christmas presents which was fine, the gifts were well received and I was pleased with them as well.
However, I then wanted Able and Cole to come and collect the packaging they delivered my order in as they could re-use it. This was arranged with them and I duly left the boxes outside my house for collection. They were not collected.

Have ordered a veg box from Riverford for a couple of years but thought I would try Able and Cole as I liked the idea that I could opt out of a vegetable I didnt like. Found the quality and freshness was not anything like as good as Riverford. Riverford veg keeps in my fridge for at least one week - sometimes I order a large box and keep it for two weeks - perfectly OK. A&C carrots arrived looking tired and were bendy after a couple of days - better off getting them from supermarket. (read more)

i have had medium mixed box for nearly two months now and my children have started to taste different flavours and enjoy them i have had no problems with the fresheness that sometimes when you buy at supermarkets within a couple of days the fruit gone mouldy sometimes Ive had the veg 2 weeks in my fridge and its still good. I've ordered food and other items from Abel & Cole for a while now and I have always been happy with the choice, service and quality of the products. I did have one week where there were problems with my order but the customer service person I spoke to was very apologetic and helpful and refunded me for the items I did not receive. The delivery drivers have always been very polite and helpful. I really like the large choice of foods on the website and the ability to make up your own box... (read more)

All looks good up front but the box for 2-3 people had 4 yes 4 small potatoes, 4 carrots and was packed out with a huge lettuce. No way this could do the five a day for 2 or 3 people. Overpriced by at least double. Quality yet to be decided but in no way will I ever order again from Able and Cole. (read more)

I was really looking forward to my firs delivery from Abel & Cole. I have all ready imagined all those yummy organically grown veggies....
But what a disappointment it was!
I ordered 3 different boxes + some extras. Every box claimed to satisfy 2-3 people.
We are two people at the household & I figured out we eat more vegetables & fruits than average...
However, the amount of products in each box was utterly ridiculous. ONE pepper?? are they being serious??? We had to shop at list twice more... (read more)

I've been shopping with Abel & Cole every week for nearly a year now, and I find them to be pretty well perfect. Unlike some organic suppliers, they don't restrict you to a few boxes of vegetables of their own choosing . You can tailor-make an order to suit yourself from a wide range of excellent meat, fish, vegetables, dairy produce, bread and cereals, chocolates, drinks and just about everything else. I am really pleased with the freshness and variety of the produce from Able and Cole. The website is really easy to use. Newsletters with each delivery include recipe examples and info about some of the more exotic fruit and veg, which is both useful and interesting. Comes delivered in recyclable, reusable boxes. Mixed box for 2 - 3 is plenty for the two of us adults, plus baby, who has just started solids, and prices are competitive compared to supermarkets. (read more)
