If you are given an appointment time then beware because you will wait an extra hour minimum to be seen! Trafford Centre waiting times are dreadful! Get a grip optical express. And keep to the timings! Avoid this company at all costs! (read more)

After initial IOL consultation (09.02.13) I paid £1556.45 upfront with the remaining £1000.00 on 10mths interest free credit. Had to go to Harley Street London (25.02.13)for a final consultation. Common complaint...please talk to your local MP.....many others are taking this action.
OE have been answering complaints like yours for months and months if nt years, saying tat THS is not the Evelyn of service they expect to give!,....so why are they continuing to do it

I had Lasik surgery at the Harley Street clinic 10 days ago and so far the results have been impressive. I had severe shorsightedness of around -8 in both eyes and currently have better han 20/20 vision. There's no denying the impressive outcome. However the overall customer experience was not great. I used to need two sets of glasses one for long distance and on for short but now I only need reading glasses which is fine. I had my eye test here 3 years ago and decided to go back for a 2 year check up. The eye test was fine and for some reason I decided to buy some expensive glasses. The staff need to tell customers on the cancellation policy which left me 55 pounds out of pocket. I decided to phone and say I did not want them. I had to cancel after paying £400 deposit as I was not suitable, this was 28 November, I can't get them to refund me either. After a call today a manager was supposed to contact me, they could not do that, I have emailed them and plan on contacting Watchdog and my bank to see if the can help. Absolutely unreasonable delay. I was expecting to have better vision, but the laser surgery has exceeded my expectations. I didn't realise how used I was to seeing the world through my glasses, with everything being framed. Now, with no glasses, the world is no longer framed and beautifully clear. If I wasn't wearing my glasses, I would not look at people as their faces were a blur and I would not recognise then. “Promised refund within 28 days (still waiting after 78...”

I signed up for laser eye surgery but changed my mind within 3 days after paying my deposit. Accordingly, I was promised a refund of the 300 GBP by two Optical Express employees on the phone (I was told by both that this would be issued within 28 days). The money should therefore have arrived in mid-November at the latest and it is now January 5th...I called twice to complain nicely and received an apology and an additional promise that the money would be sent. I have a while to wait for my refund yet then as im only at 28 working days today 8/01/13, being told that there is a delay next refunds are only being paid week begining 4/02/13, which will be at least 46 working days.

I have had the same problem although I had laser eye surgey it deteriorated after 3 years, so I was interested in interocular lens replacment, I had an appointment at Harley St but they only gave me 48 hours to make up my mind (which wasn't enough) and I got cold feet about the procedure and decided to decline within the 24 hours, but cannot get my £500 deposit back, I have made lots of calls, been promised a refund within 28 days from Nov 16th but still no joy. I was perhaps considering the interocular surgery at a later date but definitely wouldn't use them again now!

Same here, I was promised a refund in 28 days I'm now at 34 days. I've called several times and just get the 'I can only apologise' response and 'I can promise you that you will have your money in the next 24 hours,' I still don't have any money. They took the money off me within 24 hours but I can't get it back. They owe me £1,900

On my last call just this week Monday 14 January 2013, I yet again got the 'you will have your money in 24 hours' and I asked them to e-mail me explaining why I hadn't had my money and why people are lying to me. They said they would do that......in the next 24 hours........I'm still waiting for my e-mail.

The cheek of it is they keep sending me e-mails saying I can have £300 of eye surgery

This company are a disgrace and I only wish I knew how to take further action other than just phoning them, which is also costing me a fortune in telephone charges.

I think I will start with Watchdog with a complaint, they can not be allowed to get away with this.

In the shop service excellent, I must say, however don't get conned like I did. I paid my deposit approx 6-8 weeks before my laser eye surgery. My surgery was cancelled five mins before it was due to begin because the surgeon was not sure i would be happy withe the results. That is fair enough. That was on the thirtieth of November. Appalling is how I would describe the level of service from Optical Express@ Mahon Point Cork. My daughter attended the clinic in Cork on 23/10/12 and was examined and given a Laser Eye Surgery date of 16/11/20 at a clinic 248Km away in co. Kildare. I had been thinking about having treatment for years, but was afraid of two things: 1. I wouldn't be able to afford it. 2. That it would go wrong! Anyway, finally plucked up the courage to come for an assessment and found out it would cost me less than I thought because I only needed one eye treated! Went through with the treatment (LASEK) the treatment was painless but I did have a day and a half of pain afterwards but it is SOOO worth it and the results are better than I could have hoped... I cancelled my surgery because I was told by the Kingston Branch that I would be able to speak to my surgeon on the second consultation at Harley St clinic, but I didn't see a surgeon and had to take time off work to go through the same tests again. I had been turned down for surgery before so I wanted to see the surgeon to ensure I was suitable for surgery but they just said I would be fine and gave me eydrops. i also left £500 deposit then was told i could not have surgery this was over 3 months ago keep ringing to ask for my money back and week after week i,m told it went in the post then a week later same again it went in the post yesterday bull s... .if any one is thinking of going to optical express please think again ....the reason i was going was my brother and his wife both had eye surgery at a cost of £7400 or there about.. then found out could of gone to turkey both had the same opp +4 weeks there and come home £2000 better off what moor can i say ,,,still waiting for my £500 DEPOSIT BACK

Hi I emailed you at customer feedback but never received an aknowledgement or a reply, however I received a call yesterday telling me that my refund had been processed. I have checked my bank but it is not showing in my account so until it is in my account I will keep an open mind.

Can you also explain why it does not mention in the optical express terms and conditions that a refund will take in excess of 28 working days from the date that someone phones to take the bank details. I have looked at all my paperwork and it does not state this so I will be taking this further.

Can you also explain why I wasn't able to see the the surgeon prior to giving my consent for the operation as I had been turned town for surgery before by the surgeon so why wasn't this checked before asking for payment. I now consider this is a tactic to hold on to other people's money to gain interest. You have had my money for 65 days so far! Can you refund me the interest please?

Just to add to the millions of other people who have commented on this, Optical Express have no customer service and eye surgery is not about what is best for you the patient, but about a money making excercise and all about the sale sale sale! I was "forced" into booking the operation after visiting the Bluewater shop 4th November and paid £500 deposit. On the day of the surgery the staff were very welcoming and made me felt at ease, they made me feel comfortable and helped set my mind off the surgery. The surgery went very well, i did think it was going to be very painful but it wasn't at all. i am very happy that i have had my surgery it was an amazing experience if i had to do it again i would. had lasik surgery on my eyes yesterday. went for review today to be told that my myopia is now worse than before.at my initialconsultation i was told that i would probably need glasses in about five years just for reading so i'm quite upset to need glasses straight away.i could manage to read without glasses before now i need magnifying glasses to read anything. please do your own research very carefully i wish ihad instead of believing the sales hype. The Treatment was very good and so was the after care. Would highly recomend the treatment to anyone considering having the treatment done. LASIK if by far the best treatment for recovery time. Identical to my wife's experience. This is common. I am trying to ascertain the number of cases but have seen at least 15 posts about this on various sites without much effort. Please log this with CAB and BBC watchdog. If enough people do this they'll investigate and this unashamed practice of holding onto people's money illegally will be exposed.

Was turned down for laser by another company due to high eye pressures ( chances of glaucoma ) one year prior to my laser . Optical expresss however assessed me and said I was suitable without doing all checks available . Since been diagnosed with glaucoma but lost 2/3 of sight in right eye . The problem with laser is that it thins cornea and gives lower eye pressure readings than they really are . So laser makes the glaucoma harder to detect . Another sign of the recession. Optical Express closing 40 clinics and have been put into administration. Bad news for people who've had laser eye surgery with Optical Express. Optical Express could be gone out of business entirely.
