Used their Trafford Centre (Manchester) branch a few weeks back to buy a pair of rimless glasses. Was told they would be sent out within a week. They arrived some three weeks later, too late for a holiday I was due to go on. Not only that, but they arrived BENT. I went for an eye appointment due to having bad headaches. My first appointment I blacked out during the eye test and was quite unwell.The store manager was fantastic and helped get me sorted with an ambulance so I decided to re book. The next appointment however was not too great. The test seemed very haphazard and I was injured by the phoropter being slammed into my face too hard. I had Lasik surgery at the Harley Street clinic 10 days ago and so far the results have been impressive. I had severe shorsightedness of around -8 in both eyes and currently have better han 20/20 vision. There's no denying the impressive outcome. However the overall customer experience was not great. For the first time in over 20 years I can thread a needle without calling someone else in to help! I can read text so small that others had to fetch a magnifying glass to realise I was correct. I no longer have to worry about where my glasses are all the time, no problems of them steaming up in humid weather or on rainy days. In June 2012 I purchased a pair of prescription sunglasses from Optical Express, Kensington High street. They had to be returned to the factor 3 times, due to incorrect prescriptions and stretched frames. Eventually in August I asked for a refund and was told I would receive a check in the post. From responding to my own whim, passing a store, to discharge three months later, my experience has been exhilarating. The operation is more intense, the immediate discomfort more real, the disparity between near and far vision in the first month more extreme, the eventual appreciation of near-perfect vision within a few short months more satisfying than I could have expected. I was like others nervous at first about the surgery. But the staff were so reassuring that helped relax me. After the usual day one of slight uncomfortableness my eyes were in working order and good by the following morning. Its now month three and I am better than 20/20! Hi I had Intralease - Lasik laser eye surgery in 2012 and have been really please with the results. I used to need two sets of glasses one for long distance and on for short but now I only need reading glasses which is fine. I had my eye test here 3 years ago and decided to go back for a 2 year check up. The eye test was fine and for some reason I decided to buy some expensive glasses. The staff need to tell customers on the cancellation policy which left me 55 pounds out of pocket. I decided to phone and say I did not want them. I was expecting to have better vision, but the laser surgery has exceeded my expectations. I didn't realise how used I was to seeing the world through my glasses, with everything being framed. Now, with no glasses, the world is no longer framed and beautifully clear. If I wasn't wearing my glasses, I would not look at people as their faces were a blur and I would not recognise then. I signed up for laser eye surgery but changed my mind within 3 days after paying my deposit. Accordingly, I was promised a refund of the 300 GBP by two Optical Express employees on the phone (I was told by both that this would be issued within 28 days). I have had the same problem although I had laser eye surgey it deteriorated after 3 years, so I was interested in interocular lens replacment, I had an appointment at Harley St but they only gave me 48 hours to make up my mind (which wasn't enough) and I got cold feet about the procedure and decided to decline within the 24 hours, but cannot get my £500 deposit back, I have made lots of calls, been promised a refund within 28 days from Nov 16th but still no joy. I was perhaps considering the interocular surgery at a later date but definitely wouldn't use them again now!

Same here, I was promised a refund in 28 days I'm now at 34 days. I've called several times and just get the 'I can only apologise' response and 'I can promise you that you will have your money in the next 24 hours,' I still don't have any money. They took the money off me within 24 hours but I can't get it back. They owe me £1,900
On my last call just this week Monday 14 January 2013, I yet again got the 'you will have your money in 24 hours' and I asked them to e-mail me explaining why I hadn't had my money and why people are lying to me. They said they would do that......in the next 24 hours........I'm still waiting for my e-mail.
The cheek of it is they keep sending me e-mails saying I can have £300 of eye surgery
This company are a disgrace and I only wish I knew how to take further action other than just phoning them, which is also costing me a fortune in telephone charges.
I think I will start with Watchdog with a complaint, they can not be allowed to get away with this.

In the shop service excellent, I must say, however don't get conned like I did. I paid my deposit approx 6-8 weeks before my laser eye surgery. Appalling is how I would describe the level of service from Optical Express@ Mahon Point Cork. My daughter attended the clinic in Cork on 23/10/12 and was examined and given a Laser Eye Surgery date of 16/11/20 at a clinic 248Km away in co. Kildare. When I first considered laser surgery, I just thought that I'd be getting rid of the dependency on contacts and glasses, for comfort's sake, but I didn't think that my vision would be so clear and better than I ever thought possible! Now I have better than 20/20 vision - more than I bargained for.
