The pies weren't great, hardly any filling and then my husband found a bone in his, it's a good job that it wasn't one of the kids that got it. Needless to say i am not happy and will be complaining to mcdougalls directly.

My husband and I have each just eaten one of your McDougalls individual (so called) deep filled chicken and asparagus pies, we were very disappointed. The amount of meat found in each pie varied enormously -
pie A the chicken content was two and a half pieces and a scrap end. Total weight of chicken (and this includes the sauce that clung to the pieces of meat) 5 grams.
pie B five pieces of chicken and a scrap end. Total weight, again including sauce, 14 grams.
Your description on the fron ...- Read Guest's review (221 words)

I had a mcdougalls big Chicken pie with asparagus in it at the weekend and it was quite tasty. It had enough meat in and DH has a big appetite! Could be a little bit more asparagus for me but pretty good. The pastry was lovely and crisp on top better than I could have done (if I ever cooked pies from scratch!).
I've had a big Steak pie a bit ago which was also ok but think I preferred the chicken one overall.- Read Guest's review (84 words)

I bought a box of McDougalls steak and peppered sauce pies and when l put the knife into the pies all the hot gravy burst out and severely burnt my leg, there was no meat in either pie, disgusting! lf there had been meat the gravy would not have shot out of the pie. Tried to contact them to complain, doesnt seem to be anyone to complain to. The pastry and the gravy was nice but not worth the money spent on them. Very misleading.

Hello, the pastry is lovely, on the puff pastry steak pies, and chicken, but tonight we had the McDougalls steak pie, and the meat was terrible, mostly fat or gristle. We will only buy the chicken ones in future- Read Guest's review (39 words)

McDougall's Slices Just As Bad As Pies.
Just purchased McDougall ' s ' Upper Crust - 2 Chicken & Mushroom Slices, ' they are extremely misleading. The picture on the box depicts a lot of creamy filling, but once cooked to a nice crust (which is very tasty and crusty) the filling inside is sparse, no more than about a half of a dessertspoon. Cutting into the pastry results in a puff of air, unlike the ' Generous pieces of chicken and creamy mushroom filling, ' you would expect to find as sta ...- Read Guest's review (129 words)

Bought some McDougalls Steak and peppered sauce pies. Lovely pastry and sauce but no meat. E mailed Northern Foods. no response. Wrote to them, got a £5 voucher to spend against Green Isle Foods. Tried Chicken,Mushroom & Ham Pies. Only a little bit of filling in the sauce. Won't be buying them again. How do they get away with it !!!!!- Read Guest's review (60 words)

i am a home baker and in general never buy ready made pies. but these McDougalls Steak and Mushroom Pies looked so nice and a good price so i purchased a box of 4. we ate 2, or at least we didn't eat 2 because although the pastry was very nice the fatty little bits of meat put me off, and I was disappointed with the amount of mushroom included. the other 2 are still in the freezer but i certainly wont be cooking them for dinner. very disapointed with mcdougalls. always use their flour because it ...- Read annswann's review (97 words)

I bought 4 of the McDougalls steak and peppered sauce pies for my family . We then had a competition to find a piece of meat ! My husband and children each found two small pieces and I found just one. Yes ONE !!! They should be re-named sauce pies. A total waste of money ! The photo on the box is a total mis-reprisentation of what you find inside. How do they get away with it ?- Read hazelmint's review (79 words)

On my experience I would not recommend McDougalls pies. It might seem good value for money but considering you are hardly getting any of the filling it was more like having a pastry and sauce dinner. Very disappointing.- Read Cathwaters's review (89 words)

Well i sat down for my peppered steak pie as as i cut it open i became clear that there was little, if no, meat! I searched and searched and eventually found there to be one small piece and nothing else, just oddly coloured gravy. This one small piece of meat turned out to be chewy and as this was the only piece of meat I was very dissapointed! McDougalls ruined my supper experience :O I want my meat in my meat pie and i do not believe that i should be made to pay for a pie that does not match u ...- Read Guest's review (142 words)

I shall not be buying any of McDougalls pies or products again. Feel that the description of the pie contents is entirely misleading and to even have the gaul to state in their Warning Statemement 'although every care has been taken to remove bones, some may remain' is ludicrous to say the least! How can there be bones if there is no chicken? They might just as well have given a warning re: vegetable peelings in view of the fact that those seemed to be non existent as well!- Read lesleyknoesen's review (144 words)

Usually very good and well filled, however the pastry was its usual light and tasty, however what a disappointment this particular pie was. I tried to send an e-mail to the address on the packet and it was rejected. I also tried to find a contact number for the name and address on the packet all to no avail.- Read Guest's review (86 words)

The Chicken and Vegetable Pies represented only a slight bargain, because there was a special price on the day of purchase. McDougalls have, in my view, a great reputation and trying to be positive, I can only think that the pack of four McDougall Chicken & Vegetable Pies that I purchased were from a batch that either missed quality control or the chicken adding machine wasn't working properly.
Unless someone can convince me differently, I certainly won't be buying another McDougall Pie, eve ...- Read Ron McMinn's review (245 words)

I just can't get enough of McDougalls Pies. It is wonderful stuff. Mcdougalls Pies are simply the best.
The bond that is built between those who enjoy a good McDougalls is a strong one. I feel that we are in the midst of a cultural revolution.- Read Mrs Harris's review (85 words)
