Good Points: none
Bad Points: Appauling customer service, cannot speak to anyone on the phone, changed my address with them and they charged a stupid amount to do it, cancelled my policy by mistake and left me un-insured for 3 months without notifying me!!!! Would never used eCar Insurance again

I used eCar insurance after comparing all the insurance comparison websites.STEER CLEAR!. Don't be 'roped in' because the they are cheap! I must have written about 14 emails just to cancel my insurance, which do not always get answered by a person just an automated email reply saying they are very busy.ANY PHONECALL YOU MAKE IS £1 PER MINUTE AT ANYTIME.I sold my car and cancelled the insurance which cost £50. Terrible company. we switched to ecar insurance after three years wilth the AA back in november 2008 as they offered a better price. then yesterday we recieved a letter DEMANDING proof of our relationship or face prosecution for FRAUD. i can understand our policy being flagged up as my partner is 20 years older than me. however i can't help but think ecar could have dealt with this query in a more civilised way not a threatening letter. we will be cancelling our policy!

eCar Insurance dont pay out when you claim, if you loose your documents as i did due to fire of my car. Even though they know im insured and always paid. I've lost all my docs and car and have to replace them myself even though i was insured with them.

i had a months insurance with eCar Insurance and cancelled the pay as you go in time, but a week later i had an email confirming a card transaction at 3 am in the morning! they took another 69 pounds out of my account and they will not reply to my emails and if you try to call the phone number on 118 it is premium £1.50 per minute from a mobile and all calls are redirected back to the web site and no one answers! i read about this company being like this and thought id be ok just for a m ...

I recently took out an eCar Insurance policy for my husbands motorbike . The first month was fine and then upon checking something else on the policy online I discovered It had been cancelled. I got a letter a week after they cancelled the insurance stating they could not get payment from my account which is nonsense . I shop online all the time and there was plenty in the account. Lucky there were no accidents or theft but that is not the point .

eCar Insurance may be amongst the cheapest and has unusually long European cover, however its customer service is dreadful!! As it is an internet company they only allow communication via email. The problem is that if they disagree, or cant be bothered they don't get back to you. (in my case they wouldn ' t answer my dispute concerning no-claims-discount and punitive charges!). I tried twice for 30minutes to telephone on their £1/ minute line and was left on hold listening to musak. ...

ecar insurance - this is the worst ever isurance company i have ever used
i was quoted £580 for my insurance - i couldnt believe the value- i signed up straight away and paid the £160 deposit- this was on march 24th i didnt want my policy to start until april 1st

On the 20th of Feb I emailed E Car Insurance about my existing policy with them. All I wanted was an additional quote to see how much it was going to cost to cover me to carry prescription drugs and doctors prescriptions in my car. Emailed eCar Insurance proof of no claims when I paid for the first month, they say they did not receive it. Got a letter to say they'd cancelled my insurance the day before I received the letter.
Immediately sent out (4) more emails with my proof of no claims, requesting read receipts on two. Emailed customer services as well. Couldn't phone the number as it was £1 per MINUTE as we were in France.. so that was perhaps a good thing!! Waited through the day, then emailed complaints as well ...

03 April 2008 - Excess was cleared from my Bank Account
24 Sept 2008 - Received letter from AAMI insurance saying that Ecar is saying I have paid the excess. Pay $3700 else court proceeding
25 Sept 2008 - Spoke to Ecar, claim officer he will settle my claim
03 Nov 2008 - Received Court Notice from AMMI's solicitor. Ecar has not paid claim. Pay $4500 or attend court hearing and will impact on credit rating.

I had an accident earlier this year and like the person mentioned above when I contacted the claims line was passed from one company to another. I also recieved correspondence from the other party 8 months after the incident as my insurance company had been ignoring them! I will never insure again with ecar and advise anyone who is considering to take out insurance with them to think again!

Terrible call centre, they are useless and transfer you number after number to dead ends.
Had an accident, did not get one call from them but I did get calls from 5 separate companies who did not store any of the information I told them and had completely wrong information on the accident.
Had letters to my house from 3rd party companies claiming to be with e-car but when I finally got in contact with e-car they said it was miss printed and to ignore it.
My car ended up written off over a month ...

When never having to deal with them everything seemed Ok, until we went to change cars. We tried to update the details of the car on the internet which failed miserably leaving the old car and the new car uninsured 250 miles away from home.

I took out a policy with this company who disputed the time when my no claims arrived. This was despite constact contact via email. As a result they cancelled my insurance leaving me uninsured. They did not offer a full refund and were unhelpful when trying to resolve the situation.
