“out of business?”

★★☆☆☆

written by Avah1945 on 07/11/2014

not sure if this company has gone out of business or just extremely bad follow up. had a kitchen fitted couple of months ago, have now found problem with all pipe work behind units and cant get any contact from them. apparently, all pipe work done wrong, so all units have to come out and be refitted by another company

“Not Good.”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 15/10/2011

Quality OK but fitting shocking. Huge holes left in wall and covered with a piece of hardboard after complaint. Hob cut-out wrong size. Lowere kick panels huge gaps. Back splash edging strips falling off and glue residue left everywhere. Plumbing cut outs huge for no reason. Complaints met with abuse. Unit doors cut to fit, with chipped edges covered up with white stick-on tape. New door eventually supplied but wrong size again. Endless problems. Finally did the finishing myself to avoid more butchery to our kitchen.I could have understood the use of semi trained "fitters" if it was cheap, but it wasn't!

We ordered a kitchen from Kitchen direct and the salesman and surveyor were very good and only stayed about two hours. We have had a supply only kichen but when it was delivered we found a huge amount of parts, instructions, doors, cornices, fittings not delivered. A door had been passed by quality control and packaged with a large scratch on it. We have contacted Kitchens direct and are awaiting the large list of missing parts etc so we can complete our kitchen.I wish I had read the reviews of previous customers then I would never have gone to kitchens direct for my kitchen. I would never recomend kitchens direct to anyone friend or foe.

After looking on google and having the Kitchen Direct rep visiting my house last night I feel obliged to warn a few of you out there what i have seen over the last 24 hours...The rep came to our house last night at 720(20 mins late) and finally left at 12pm. The rep was very pleasant, very good at technical drawing and went through the choices very well. That was until the price came up 3 hours into events and she wanted to push the sale - I have been in sales for 10 years and pointed out nothing would be done until I saw 2 further companies for quotes in the next few days!! She still hung around for a further 2 hours and she didn't take a few hints it was getting late.We agreed together, that we would update next week accordingly!!...... Already we have had 3 calls from customer services and a few of my work collegues have reported similar issues.. just be careful of a prolonged period of selling from KITCHENS DIRECT!!!

Very good sales pitch, very convincing. very poor after sales department and very cheap inferior appliances. After many happy years with a frost free fridge freezer, I now have one that has to be defrosted. I didn't even know they still made them. I actually asked if the freezer would be frost free and was told by the salesman " I think so" Things started to go wrong in October and I am still waiting for them to be rectified. The joint in the worktop started to lift and needs replacing. My cooker of 6 months is impossible to clean because any spillage whilst cooking is unable to be cleaned. The back panel is supposed to be self cleaning the instructions are very vague. I googled the name Tecnik nothing showed. To top it all, the person I had to deal with in the warranties department of Kitchens Direct has been rude and I had to make numerous phone calls which he denied had been made. The fitter that came first of all was extremely rude and was asked to leave after a day. As I write this review my kitchen looks sad and incomplete as I had to hold back the tiler and decorator till Kitchens Direct finish the job to my satisfaction. I now know why they had to be paid before the fitter even started to fit the units.

Their planner turned up, wanted a hard sell. He wanted me to part with 100gbp cash or bankers draft cheque, but wouldn't accept a cheque or credit card payment.

He wasn't willing to give a wrtten quote, it was a now or never deal, the whole experience was a little off putting as it smacked of give me 100 cash and I'll promise to delvier a kitchen in 10 days.

“brought a kitchen from KD in Sept 2008, the kitchen...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 02/10/2009

brought a kitchen from KD in Sept 2008, the kitchen arrived on time but some parts were damaged or the wrong size (worktops were too small), apparentely this happens a lot according to the fitter we had. The kitchen was installed as much as they could in 6 days (was originally told 4 days by the designer and surveyor) and then they left. Came back 4 weeks later as some of the damaged items had been re-delivered, but still no worktop. The installation started at the end of October 2008 and finally finished in Feb 2009 after lots of changes and repairs. I had a new floor installed before the kitchen was finished (was already booked in and could not re-arrange due to waiting list) of which the fitters damaged.

The kitchen did not live up to expectations for the money paid out (14k) some elements felt cheap and like they came from B&Q. But was finished and could be used. This was until the water filter they fitted broke and leaked whilst we were away. The solid wood floor is now completely ruined, the walnut breakfast bar is now warped, and the MDF cupboard carcasses around the sink are all damaged.

Just heard from KD today that the water filter is NOT covered under their warrantee and therefore they will not be replacing the damaged units

DO NOT USE THEM, they WILL find a way of not replacing damaged items that should be covered under their warrantee.

Didn't like the fact that you pay in full upon delivery because the fitters can then take advantage- the finished job is good- as it should be for the price and the terribly long time they took to fit it. Admittedly a kitchen refit is a messy job, but these characters took the mick- Even the Regional Sales man was lost for words and couldn't understand what the fitters were playing at. Save yourself a lot of time and money- go to a recommended local fitter- and hold some of the money back!

What is the warranty period on a kitchen fitted by kitchens direct? We had a kitchen fitted in 2007 and almost every door has suffered swelling along the sealed edge.
