“Check in staff wrongly denying us permission to board !”

Written on: 19/02/2014 by MichaelBurden (1 review written)

Our first ever flight with Asiana Airlines will be our last. When we arrived at Heathrow, London to fly with them to Manila, Philippines the check in staff initially denied us permission to board, claming that we should have obtained visas. Although UK citizens do normally need visa for stays of over 21 days in the Philippines, my wife (being a naturalised British citizen of Filipino origin) and we her family travelling with her can stay up to one year in the Philippiens without a visa. The… Read Full Review

Michaelburden's Response to MichaelBurden's Review

Written on: 21/02/2014

Comment by MichaelBurden - Another review site has informed me that the check in staff do not belong to Asiana Airlines, but to Star Alliance, a third party service that provides various facilities for passengers - check in, flight booking, airport lounges, etc - and is maintained and subscribed to by Asiana Airlines and about 30 other airlines. I visited their website hopiong to leave a message there complaining about this incident, but could not find anywhere to leave such a message. The website contains much useful information on the immigration rules of various countries and under the Philippines it refers to the rule that entitled us to fly that day of which the Star Alliance check in staff were apparently ignorant. The website is also correct in that it states the new rule allowing UK citizens and citizens of many other countries to stay in the Philippines without a visa for up to 30 days now rather than 21. If this rule had been in force when we checked in, we would not have had a problem because our stay was for 23 or 24 days if I remember rightly.

Terrible service when stranded by volcano ash cloud on honeymoon in 2010 - they could not have been less helpful and my husband and I had to borrow thousands of pounds from family and friends to get home. Do not fly with them… Read Full Review

“Absolutely WORST Air Cargo Experience Ever!!!”

Written on: 16/12/2012

I had a shipment of live fish sent on Asiana going via Pusan to JFK/NYC. The pallet was stacked with the boxes 4 high (3 was the agreed height) and they stacked the heaviest boxes on the top! Bottom boxes were completely crushed and the water and air had leaked out. Boxes above that were crushed enough to fair the oxygen out of some of the bags. If that wasn't bad enough, the boxes were kept in DIRECT SUNLIGHT even though they were all clearly marked "live fish - keep cool" I lost the majority… Read Full Review

“Love love love this airline!!!”

Written on: 02/11/2012

Los angeles-Seoul Korea- Hanoi Vietnam and back Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this airline!!! I have flown with China Airlines, Cathay Pacific, as well as Asiana Airlines in that order and have found Asiana to simply be the best! Best leg room in economy ever! Huge amount of leg room! You can TOTALLY stretch out your legs completely, have your shoes to one side on the floor under the seat in front and still have plenty of room left. Seat width is great as well as the pitch. In flight… Read Full Review

“Our trip to India with Asiana Airlines”

Written on: 28/09/2012

Asiana Airlines My wife and I traveled from SFO to India this Sept. Our major complaints are as follows: the food is terrible. They served beef which was like shoe leather and smelled. Even the flight attendant could not cut it, but did not offer another dinner. It seems one is offered dinner even thought the departure time warrants breakfast. The seating is poor in economy class- not enough leg room and seats are uncomfortable. . When we arrived at each stop- we could hardly walk. The… Read Full Review

"Our company trip to Korea with Asiana Airlines"
We, the IT solution Company, will have a company trip to korea (21 persons) , Jan 17-21, 2013. Our flight OZ742 (23.40-06.50) has been confirmed since last month but yesterday, the Asiana Thailand informed us that our flight has been changed to OZ741 (01.30-8.40) because of Korean first priority and crowded flight. It doesn't make sense. Our first program trip will be cancelled. Worstiest experience we have ever been.

“Awful”

Written on: 05/03/2012

I flew to Sydney on Christmas day with a friend, the flight in general was not too bad except for being told that we could not sit together, when people that checked in after us were allowed to. The flight home in February, however, was the most horrendous flight I have ever taken. My first meal was frozen, I was promised a replacement that never came. My entertainment system didn't work and took them 5 hours and 5 complaints to be moved seat to one that worked (even though there were plenty… Read Full Review

“I very much appreciate crew’s care.”

Written on: 15/12/2011

Before seeing this year out I very much appreciate crew’s care. I was especially impressed by flight attendants’ Kim Yoo-Mi and Lee Seung-Bum. They were extremely friendly when I was not feeling well. I don’t know how to express my thanks. I will remember what they did for me. Thanks for crews’ care, support. Nobody beats a Asiana’s customer service. … Read Full Review

“FLY KOREAN AIR INSTEAD!!!”

Written on: 26/05/2011

Summary: Horrible flight. Even worse customer service (4 months and counting to followup on a complaint.) I flew Asiana in January. I requested not to be seated by children; the ticket counter said I would not be by kids. I get on the flight and I'm seated directly next to two children. I was woken up on 3 separate occasions by these children. I filed a complain a week after the incident. I received an email 3 and a half weeks later (mid February) saying they received my email and someone… Read Full Review

Some of us have no option but to take our children with us when we go on holiday. I guess you don't like children? well do you think its fun for us...NO. and then we have to listen to you gripe about sitting near children...do you want a seperate flight for us unfortunate parents who have kids?
Thank you, I hope you manage to sit close to FAMILIES again.
We should complain about people like you who should fly in a 2 seater with just the pilot. GOOD LUCK

“I have been flying between London and Sydney for many...”

Written on: 29/11/2010

I have been flying between London and Sydney for many years and booked with Asiana because of the cheap ticket price. They were fantastic! They really do put the likes of Cathay Pacific and Qantas to shame. I travelled in economy and was given real cutlery, lovely pink steaks, the fantastic bi-bim-bap: all of which made this the best airline food I have experienced. The staff were extremely friendly, they were also very quiet which made it easy to sleep. The one thing that let them down was the… Read Full Review

Written on: 11/05/2010 by oneota (4 reviews written)

My ticket was stolen while on a multi-carrier flight. My travel agent bought the ticket through Asiana. Asiana refused to replace the ticket until I had the ticket number (I have flown for years and never been told that this strange , huge number was important. Since Korea was on a holiday at the time, I was stranded. Finally, I bought a separate flight for the next leg and asked the impolite people at Asiana to provide my replacement ticket (for which I was to pay 50 euros) ready at the… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/04/2010

I was stuck in Seoul, Korea in the stopover on this flight due to the volcanic ash crisis. Asiana were awful. They let hundreds of stranded passengers down. There was no organisation and it was only after pressure from the British embassy and passengers that a chartered flight was put on to get people home. Staff were generally unhelpful if not rude. Nothing was paid for and meal vouchers and air beds were provided for those stuck at the airport, again only after pressure though.
In flight… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/02/2010

I would give 6 stars for customer service if I could. The Captain of the aircraft made telephone call while in the air to help us with a tour reservation for the next day!!! (and we were in economy). That is how good the service was. I have taken almost 200 flights, and found the service by ALL staff on board to be nothing short of exceptional. I strongly recommend everyone to give them a try. You will not regret it for one second (and Seoul is a great place to spend a few days to break up… Read Full Review

“Asiana 201 is a Boeing 747 Combi (passenger and cargo)...”

Written on: 29/01/2010 by Cbglagmay (4 reviews written)

Asiana 201 is a Boeing 747 Combi (passenger and cargo) which makes it a little bit tight, with not much legroom in seats (travel class). I think there were only 2 or 3 restrooms. Customer service is really good! It was superb! The crew were always smiling, always present, and always groomed. Meals are fantastic (West or Korean). I had bibimbap and I had no idea what that was. But good thing they have instructions that came along with the food! Great! It was delicious. Entertainment was cool… Read Full Review

DUTCH GIRL - I flew for the first time with Asiana on this trip, I visit my family in Australia every year and have used most other airlines. Asiana puts everybody else to shame!! I am disabled and need assistance, they were FANTASTIC!! I can't praise them enough, the flight atendants are very helpful and cheerful. The food was fine, like most airline food!Stop over in Seoul is no problem either. The only negative remark I will make is the check-in at Heathrow which is/was carried out by BMI… Read Full Review

Have traveled Asiana Airlines to Australia from Dalian via Seoul twice and I have found nothing to complain about. Though there was a 7 hour wait in Seoul we paid a fee to use Asian Business class lounge and the time passed pleasantly enough. The Korean food is good, western not so much. The staff were friendly and helpful. Refreshments eg water etc were always available. The loos were kept very clean throughout the flight. Of course it's cramped in economy but what airlline isn't. Would travel… Read Full Review

I flew with Asiana Airlines from Tokyo to Seoul and then from Seoul to Frankfurt. I was especially impressed by the food. It was mostly Korean, and quite authentic. It even came with explanations of the ingredients and how to eat it. Half-way through the flight we were give hot, moist towels to refresh ourselves, and there was plenty of water and other drinks in between meals. The flight attendants were very friendly and professional. The entertainment system kept me entertained for hours… Read Full Review

I found this review unhelpful because it doesn't explain why he needed such a long stopover that he needed a hotel, or really any detail at all why the flight was so good or if it was even on time?

Kruuu's Response to kruuu's Review

Written on: 20/11/2008

Headtrip, you are obviously not aware that many of the London-Sydney routes include an overnight stopover - but some airlines do not cover the hotel costs in the price of the flight. Asiana provided a top class hotel within the price of the flight. Apart from that, the in-flight service was excellent (helpful, friendly staff, good food) and there was a good selection of entertainment. Thats all I care about, sorry...was only trying to help!
