“Brilliant absorbing day out!”

★★★★★

written by Carey34 on 16/09/2015

Loved the upgrades since last visit 3 years ago-Hello Kitty 3 rides with no queues even on a Sept Sunday! Seemed better signed and brighter so it is really great now. The only 'problem' is sooo much to see and do which is great as we will definitely go back for more and could never be bored. Loved all the animals, which looked well looked after, Great Farm area, Zoo area, indoor and outdoor play areas, Thomas train and loads of interactive buttons to press, animal spotter stamps to collect and fun ideas eg periscope to top of giraffe statue to see what is sees. Visited 13th Sept for 3 year old birthday with 5 year old sister and Dad-great!

“Lovely day out!”

I have been to drusillas many times before as a child, now I'm taking my children to drusillas I must say the improvement they have made over the years is really quite something, loads of very interesting animals to see, we especially enjoyed the bats, otters, and the green iguanas. we were a little disappointed we couldn't see the sloths but they were hidden away sleeping but got a Glimpse of one fast asleep, we went after the half term break so the park was nice and quite and we all got very good views. of all the animals. My 3yearold son loved the Thomas ride and the meerkat viewing tunnel. They have a huge childrens play area were kids of all ages and have great fun which was enjoyed also by my 3 yearold. They had the new secret kitty garden which has 3 rides for children to enjoy teacups, little car ride and hopper ride, the rides ran every 20 minutes, which my son became most impatient about. We only wished we had taken swim wear for our son as they have a splash pool for the kids, so if it's a sunny day and your looking at going to drusillas remember you kids swim wear as we were disappointed he couldn't use the pool, although you can purchase swim wear there but it's costly! After seeing all the animals we went for lunch in the explorers cafe, the food we ate was nice, but I must say the salad bar was very basic and the salad tasted old and was very pricey for what it was, however my husband and son had a hot meal which they seemed to enjoy, the hot meal option was very reasonable in price looked tasty. The gift shop was our last stop of the day lots of little souvenirs for children to spend there pocket money on some items were really over priced but others good value for money we came away with a few bits for the kids. All in all was a fab day which we all enjoyed.

“Excellent full day out - great value for money”

Had a wonderful day, there's so much to do. It's a full day out. The layout is great, you are guided through all of the animals, which is both fun and educational for the children. The girls loved stamping all of their books when they saw the animals. You can also feed the parrots, they sit on your arm whilst you feed them special nectar which the children loved. There's lots of fun , engaging and entertaining things to do and see along the zoo route. There's even

Been going here with my kids for 12 years now. They are 10 and 13 years old now and still love it.

It is really geared for the under 5's and primary school children - but still a great day out for all.

Spacious and easy to see all the animals. Great play area etc. Food and drink a bit pricey so if you're on a budget take a packed lunch (plenty of benches and tables to eat at) and just buy cold drinks and ice creams.

Easy to walk around for the older and wheelchair users. Lots of seating all the way round for tired legs too.

Well worth a trip. And they take Tesco Days Out vouchers too.

Very enjoyable day out for all the family, bit pricy but well worth it considering what you get for this. Went with three young children (4, 5 and 7) my partner and mother.. all of them loved it! we got there at opening time at 10 and were asked politley to leave at quarter past 6 (even though they shut at 6)! They have some cute animals (little monkeys and rabbits etc) they have funny animals (meerkats and penguins) and some unusual animals (Capybara and binturong)! The play area is fantastic and this is where we spent most of the afternoon!..I would reccomend trying to walk back through the zoo a while later because you see more than the first time round! Brilliant day at drusillas zoo deffinatley will reccomend!

“I am truly shocked to see some of these reviews,...”

I am truly shocked to see some of these reviews, someone has said that all there is at drusillas is pets and farm animals so you may as well go to a farm??!! what?? So do you get; servels, 4 species of lemur, otters, 5 species of marmoset, meerkats, prarie dogs, fennec foxes, racoons, 2 species of penguins, 5 species of tamarins, flamingos, capybara, mara, beavers, gibbons, macaques, squirrel monkeys, porcupines, rodrigues fruit bats, dwarf crocodiles, coatis, saki monkeys, diana monkeys, capuchin monkeys and still sooo much more!!?? you dont get all of that and more at a farm..not to mention the play area!!
Just cant believe it..plus the animals are in plenty big enough enclosures they are given daily enrichment which you may not see depending on what time you go! and if any of these people knew about animlas they would know these things!! everyone has different experiences of places which is fair enough but you cant ingore the facts..its a very very good zoo!!

My first visit (August 2008) and I am VERY impressed.
Privately run zoo, that has happy staff who genuinely appear to like working there.
All the animals have interesting habitats and you can get really close to some of them. eg: the Lemurs, which are in an 'open' area and will jump on your shoulders etc.
No big cats etc - but lots of really interesting exotic animals.
Plenty of play areas with modern attractions such as rock climbing and trampolines etc.
Clean and very well run - easy to find your way around, but will still take more than a day to see everything.
I have been to almost every park in the south (kids!) and this is by far the best one yet - really enjoyed the day, as did my kids.

Animals are lovely at the Drusillas Zoo Park. It was amazing apart from the monkey near the Flamingos which was not trained very well it was very SCARY. Nothing bad apart from badly tempered monkeys

They are not performing chimps, none of them are 'trained'. Animals have bad days, the same as us humans. I have been to Drusillas hundreds of times and never had any problems. I do agree with your comment on the value for money, it is expensive as a one off trip, but we are members and its much better value for money. Dean
