    Good Points: sharp - very sharp
    USM focussing - near silent


    Bad Points: extra £23 for the lens hood - totally unfair !


    General comments: This is a super lens if you want something more robust that the Canon 50mm F1.8 but cannot afford the F1.2. The pictures are razor sharp and the lens fits all Canon cameras that use the EF mount.
    Maximum aperture is F22 and weight of 290g and the filter thread is 58mm which means additional filters will not cost an arm or leg and the lens itself is not heavy at all.
    Remember, this lens is 50mm on full frame and 80mm on an APS-C sized sensor camera.
    Grab one for under £280 new if you shop around.
    Only thing that really peeves me is Canon always charge extra for the lens hood. Sigma, Tamron and others always include them as part of the package.
