Just back from a week at the Queen's Bay and thoroughly enjoyed it. I went there on my own for a break and found the staff and other guests to be really friendly. Good choices for breakfast and plenty to eat at dinnertime with a good variety throughout the week, the dinner was buffet style so you could have as much or as little as you wanted and have a taste of everything, normally 3or 4 fish/meat dishes per night plus a large selection at the salad and dessert bars. The entertainment was a bit cheesy but everyone there seemed to thorougly enjoy it, from the bingo/quiz nights, haipa haipa hallelujah (it will make sense if you go) through to the cabaret singers and karaoke. Something for everyone. A nice terrace around the pool ensured everyone soaked up the sun that was on offer, also an indoor pool for the duller days of which there was only 1 when i was there. There's also a variety of daytime activities organised but i preffered to get on the bus and explore. Also to give you and indication of bar prices, all the pints were € 3.08.The rooms were sufficient for the purpose, tv with BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Sky News amongst others so you can watch your soaps albeit with a 2 hour time difference. Beds were comfortable enough and the shower always stayed at the right temperature with really good pressure. The buses (10 & 15 have bus stops at the end of the road which is a light gradient) € 1.35 for the fare to anywhere, be it 1 stop or 50 stops. During winter hours the buses run till 6:30pm and 11:30pm in summer season. The bus takes you directly to Coral Bay one way, with plenty of shops, pubs, and restaurants or to the market or the harbour the other way. Also drops you 2 mins from the tomb of the kings which was interesting to visit. Last but not least, as explained earlier, make sure that you do get a sea facing room. You look right out over the med with nothing but sea in front of you. This makes for the most spectacular sunsets that i have ever seen in my life.It is a little bit out of the way but that quite simply adds to the peace and tranquility of the surroundings. Where else can you waken up to orange trees growing outside your balcony and a totally unspoilt sea view, and banana groves on the other side. I will be going back, probably during summer months, the people are really friendly and nothing is too much bother for them.

This was our third visit to the Queens Bay Hotel but the first time we had been in the Winter, our normal time of going is of course in the summer time. Obviously the hotel has a different feel in the Winter and the clients are more towards long stays and a little bit older than us but we expected this. Whilst of course the hotel isn't as busy as it is in the summer, we were surprised at the number of clients here, which gave it a nice atmosphere most nights in the bar and restaurant, as most cl ...
