I cant believe how shocking a new product can be. My old washer dryer was secondhand when i got it and worked fine for about 5 years until it eventually died.

The new Hotpoint WD420 has lasted about a year and a half but had problems in that time. It has tripped my electrics on several occasions and ive had water all over the floor more times than i care to remember. I definately wont be buying another hotpoint or indesit.

My Hotpoint (Indesit made) WD420 Polar takes hours for anything to dry, it leaks all over the floor, it wont spin without water pouring out from everywhere!

I will NEVER buy another hotpoint product!

Having had 4 breakdowns in 12 months for the same problem, when it happened 2 weeks after warranty expired, expected sympathy from Hotpoint. not a bit of it! wanted paying to repair same fault. after much wailing and gnashing of teeth they decided the unit was a write off and replaced. worked for 13 months then failed. Hotpoint now dug their heels in and want me to pay them to repair. It is going in the bin. DO NOT TOUCH HOTPOINT WITH A RENTED BARGE-POLE.

I bought this WD420 new for £350 and 18 months later it is going in the bin! After 3 months the electronics broke down and it refused to start a new program. It was under warranty so an engineer plugged in a laptop and reset it. Now after 18 months the electronics have broken again and its out of warranty. As its electronics and these parts are very expensive only Hotpoint can fix it economically under their "5 year parts warranty". However they will charge you a £100 call out fee o ...

I found that my Hotpoint WD420 was good only for 2-3 years service, I reckon it definitely needs to be insured at time of purchase.

A great washer dryer for the price but probably best to make sure you get an extended warranty, as I've heard that washer dryers are more likely to go wrong than separate washer and dryers.

Have tried to get Hotpoint to do a free call out (for various reasons) but the MD of Indesit ( and herein lies the problem as it is Indesit NOT Hotpoint) didn't want to know. We have a Hotpoint Fridge freezer bought at the same time and it has been repaired 3 times now and is still not right. Do not buy Hotpoint unless you are prepared to fork out for labour and spend your time waiting for an engineer

This machine was advertised in Hotpoint's brochure as having a "super silent" induction motor. However, as this is the bottom of the range it has a normal "brush" motor and only the models above have th the induction type. However, i must give Hotpoint credit for offering a swap to a higher spec. Machine for no extra charge. As we had become used to using this model we declined the offer.

The Hotpoint WD420 washer dryer is a good value, basic machine. It lacks the build quality of German rivals like the Miele and AEG, but it is about £200 cheaper, so you pays your money etc. Having bought from John Lewis, I've no experience of Hotpoint's after sales care, but previously when I had built-in Ariston appliances (from the same company) it was OK. The best thing about this machine is it's very quiet, which is very important in a small, rather badly soundproofed flat like mine!

This is the worst washer/dryer we have ever bought. When the machine was delivered it was faulty. Hotpoint's Customer Service were reluctant to replace it, and they sent an engineer out to fix it. He said that they have never had a problem with this machine. After some heated persistence we managed to get them to replace it. The second machine arrived and it wasn't faulty. Unfortunately, as we were to find out, this machine would not wash our clothes. In fact, it left some parts of the garments ...

This is a serious design fault and the Hotpoint (Indesit made) WD420 Polar is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
DO NOT BUY a Hotpoint washer dryer, as it will not work beyond a year.
Yes, you'll get the engineer out for free within the 1st 12 months, but then it will happen at least twice a year under normal useage (3-5 wash cycles per week).
Customer service and service engineers WILL NOT COMMENT on the problem
    Thanks HOTPOINT
