    Good Points: Brilliant period decor
    Close to waterfront

    Bad Points: Difficult to find

General comments: We booked a night at the Locanda Ca'Valeri because it was cheap for a quick trip to Venice. In the end we wish we'd stayed longer.

After buying a tourist map we still had to make a few educated guesses to find our way to the hotel. On check-in the woman that took our details and showed us to our room was a bit odd. She wasn't rude or unpleasant, just odd.

The room was brilliant. It felt like we were nobles staying in some posh apartments in the 1800's. Very modern bathroom, large, clean room and nice touches with furnishings, drapes and rugs.

It's on a quiet alley, so it's nice and peaceful, but a few minutes walk through the maze of alleys and you're on the waterfront, faced with an abundance of restaurants, markets, water taxis, water buses - all about a 10 - 15 minutes stroll to St. Mark's Square.

The guy working the night shift was much more friendly, telling us he didn't mind how late we came back (as you have to buzz for them to open the main door).

After a brilliant day walking around Venezia, we could relax with a bath in the peace and quiet of our own little piece of history.
