Had two of these Flymo scarifiers but the motors burnt out after two hours use. The first one was under warranty and replaced by B&Q unfortunately the second was out of warranty and is now in the bin. I contacted Flymo and basically they just told me to get lost. In fact the last E Mail them from them was very rude and insulting and I thought it was only the customer who cracked up. I only realised why when I read the reviews. When I replied and commented on their surprising attitude I have not heard from them since. This product is obviously not fit for purpose and I intend to take this matter further. I am going to make a claim for my money back and will leave no stone unturned until I do. I am in the legal business and will be able to get all the advice and help I need at no cost to myself.

After hireing a monster petrol scarifier for a garden customer, and being disappointed with the results, I bought the Flymo Lawnraker Compact 340 from Amazon for under £50 (the cost of 2 days hire!) I am very pleased with this little gem. Took about an hour and a half to really 'do' a third of an acre. One thing to remember is that it cannot be 'steered'ALWAYS lift the back wheels when turning! and obviously stop the motor when doing so, otherwise yous might overheat too. Also make sur ...

Bought aFlymo Lawnraker in April 09.
Lasted for two uses. On the third use the motor drive pinion dis-integrated. This was on short grass in good weather.
Attempted to fix. Spare parts not available without buying entire new motor - making cost of repair uneconomic.

Used a Flymo Lawnraker 3 times. On the third time the motor drive pinion and belt disintegarated. This was on short grass in dry weather.
No spares available to to fix unless I bought a whole new motor - making it uneconomic to repair.

I bought this Flymo lawn rake, It worked for less than 5 minute when we started to smell burnt rubber, and it went dead.

The Flymo Lawnraker Compact 340 motor lasts no longer than 1hr, had it apart and the belt is too tight making the motor seize due to stress.

The Flymo Lawnraker Compact 340 worked well for 5 hours
After around 5 hours work in two sessions,I had to replace all of the 42 tines and started up the machine. It packed in !!!
It appears that the gear on the motor which drives the belt had chewed up the drive belt, because of the wear on the plastic gear. You can only buy a new motor as the plastic gear is integral to the motor and not available separately from the motor.Cost to replace plus labour is £60 ++

The motor of our Flymo Lawnraker Compact 340 burnt out after around a total of five hours use - two sessions of 2 1/2 hours each. it was at the highest setting and used after mowing. The motor was not labouring and only a couple of tines broke so I was not abusing it. I also made sure the side and internal air vents were kept clean of debris too! Not for large lawns, may be OK for regular maintainance of postage stamp size gardens where it is used for just 20 mins each time.

I used the Flymo 340 for the 1st time on 31/03/09. It was quite easy to assemble and did the job quite well. For the price that I paid for it and the back breaking work it has saved me then it appears to be reasonable value for money.

I would not buy this again and would not recommend it to anyone. The 30 year old black and decker did a far better job.

Like all products this one isn't idiot proof. If you haven't mowed your lawn for three weeks, your lawn is covered in stones branches and other debris and you take this out on the lowest setting and cram the thatch down in the bucket as you go, the motor will burn out and/or the tines will break. If you use common sense, mow your lawn first, clear the lawn of stones, half bricks and other debris and you take a modicum of care going over hill and dale across your lawn this will the job just fine. ...

After a total usage of about one hour on this Flymo Lawnraker Compact 340, 41 of the 42 tines had broken off. Clearly the tines are not strong enough and not fit for purpose. Spares availability is not good.

Our Flymo Lawnraker Compact 340 was a replacement for a black & decker which we'd had for years and was fabulous - sadly it seems they have stopped making it so when if finally died after sterling service we couldn't replace it.

The flymo was enormous by comparison, the wheels kept falling off and it did nowhere near as good a job. We bought it last year so I suppose we've done better than others but the motor gave out on its first day of use this year.

This is the best lawnmover ever purchased. Truly magnificent, perfect stripe formation a wonder to behold. Not a bad size box either for collecting the cuttings!
All these people who have said that this mover is rubbish must be unlucky! I love mine and would never be parted from it.

This is the second Flymo Lawnraker I've been foolish enough to own, "unlucky" seemed the opinion of the shop when I returned the first one, sadly just out of warranty. I purchased another as I had found it's performance to be OK until it too failed same problem, burnt out motor.
I believe I used both very sensibly and can only conclude that this item is not of the quality it needs to be to perform the task required of it. First machine had approx 6 hours use, second lasted less than 3 hours not ...

After a couple of uses, my Flymo Lawnraker Compact 340 stopped pulling thatch etc. - upon checking underneath the machine EVERY ONE OF THE 42 METAL TINES HAD SHEERED OFF! I found them scattered throughout the lawn. Had to buy replacement tines through the internet as no one stocks them.
Lack of spares availability didn't bode very well with me - Flymo should include a couple of full sets of tines in with the boxed product and not just the handful they choose to supply which are useless as they d ...

Bought this 340 in February have used it twice, it doesn't work as well as my 20 year old Black and decker did and after the second use there was not one spring tine that was not broken, it should be brought to the attention of the trading standards body. This machine is not of merchantable quality This model has an uprated motor in it so at least it kept going but I suppose if the tines are all broken there is not much load on the motor anyway.
